Minecraft Snapshot 20w16a
The remnants of Bastion The remnants of the Bastion, or "home sweet home" as the Piglins would refer to them, are finally here! This snapshot introduces the home of the Piglins. You might also find the ruin of the old portals in the search results for.
New Features in 20w16a
- Added bastion remains - Portals added ruined Chain blocks added. - A new music disc titled "Pigstep" by Lena Raine, which can only be found in bastions
Bastion Remnants
What's made of blackstone and brimming with Piglins and Hoglins? Igre Bastion remnants!
- Added four distinct bastion remnant types including bridge, Hoglin stable, housing units and treasure room There are these massive structures across all biomes of the Nether except the treacherous ash-dusted towers of basalt deltas. Explore, loot and conquer a bastion remnant to claim it as your own... but beware, the Piglins aren't seriously the idea of thieves stealing their belongings
Ruined Portals
The ruins of ancient nether portals. They are enigmatic.
They are found in any nether or overworld biome. Some are hidden beneath, under the sea, or in sand
Changes in 20w16a
- Increased the number of lava pools to create deltas more "deltary". - The Piglin banner design is now visible at bastions
Technical Changes in 20w16a
- Added a button on the GUI that generates the jigsaw structures from the jigsaw blocks using a specified depth of generation. Increased the maximum size per axis for Structure Blocks from 32 - 48 - added JMX MBean for monitoring dedicated servers tick times
JMX Monitoring
It is now possible to monitor server's tick times using JMX. The rationale for this is that JMX is a well known and well-supported monitoring technology, which is paired with existing integrations and tools.
This allows server admins to connect graphing and alert tools to ordinary JMX clients or dashboards.
JMX Monitoring - Enable
- A new flag enable-jmx-monitoring has been added to the server.properties file which if set to true will expose an MBean with the Object name net.minecraft.server:type=Server and two attributes averageTickTime and tickTimes exposing the tick times in milliseconds. In order to enable JMX on the Java runtime, you'll need to add a couple of JVM flags to the start as explained here.
