DEPTH: The Metamorphosis of Nakamoto Yuta 🦋

In my opinion, Yuta always had more of that "rebellious rock star vibe" than the "perfect image" of a KPop idol, and i really like his metamorphosis from a butterfly to a rock star.

For me, as not only a pop music listener but also a rock music lover, Yuta's Japanese solo debut EP DEPTH (release date November 13, 2024) was more than overdue - and a more than positive surprise. One of the two best solo debut albums in 2024 imo. The other is NCT/WayV's TEN EP of the same name, "Ten" (I hope there's one from NCT/WayV's Dejun soon, please!!!)

In 2020, Yuta said in an interview [Men's Non-No], "I feel good when I listen to rock music." On DEPTH, Yuta's love for rock music unfolds, and it is also the heart of DEPTH.

Over the years, YUTA has frequently referenced acts that have inspired his musical taste, telling Japanese outlet Real Sound in 2021 that he loves iconic Japanese rock bands like ONE OK ROCK and L'Arc-en-Ciel. In a recent interview with members of NCT 127, YUTA told Billboard that he's been listening to a lot of Linkin Park lately.

I also enjoy listening to bands like ONE OK ROCK, Linkin Park (though I prefer the songs with Chester Bennington), and i have been a huge fan of HYDE as a soloist, L'Arc-en-Ciel, and VAMPS for many years. I personally recognize influences from Hyde on Yuta's EP, the two also seem to be good friends.

YUTA (NCT) - 'Off The Mask' Teaser

I've always hoped for a solo album from Yuta (and I hope for one from WayV's Xiaojun). And since I know that Yuta and HYDE are friends, I was hoping that it would really rock. I think rock is more Yuta's world than pop music anyway and i'm really excited for the album.
