When they say "do your best", they generally don't mean "push yourself so hard it has serious consequences for your mental or physical health." Your best effort is supposed to be sustainable.
do you ever read about clean eating and intermittent fasting and cleanses and all that shit and just think about how good the wellness industry is as repackaging dangerous and disordered eating habits as shiny wellness routines and become literally enraged
yes, hi, hello, I am autistic and probably have ADHD with a strong dose of EFD. You shall now be plagued with my interactions. 😈😊
My favorite part of checking this blogs activity is I can see specific people who hyperfixate on the blog cause it’s like just them for a whole minute of scrolling at a steady pace
I love etymology and word for word translations precisely for this reason.
I'd give you a funny look but I'd understand the point. might maybe even laugh over the oddness of the phrase in English. but then... I'm used to bizarre phrases (thanks a lot country folk I know)
one of the most annoying/funny parts of being bilingual is when you try to use an expression in one language that doesn’t translate to the other language. I love to use random expressions like this in my native language so this happens to me fucking constantly. So in Italian we say “conosco I miei polli” which basically means “I know what I’m talking about’ or ‘I know what I’m doing’ but directly translates to ‘I know my chickens.’ So the other day I was baking cupcakes and my moms motherfucking friend Michelle walks her ass over and tries to tell me about how I’m making the fucking cupcakes wrong. So naturally, I go, “I know my chickens, Michelle.” and she looks at me like I’m fucking insane and I don’t realize it for a good 30 seconds that that expression does not translate to English.
