Decided to show you all my take on the whole Matoran numerals debate.
A lot of people have pointed out in the past that the 1-9 symbols we have for Matoran numbers appear to show an incomplete pattern, with a repeat on a new inner ring happening on the number 6, which could theoretically be extrapolated out to show the numbers all the way to 11, and then continued on with further inner rings for higher numbers.
This has always been pretty cool, both for the implication that Matoran count in base 6 rather than base 10 (always neat to see different counting systems in sci-fi/fantasy stories) and because it implies that a single symbol can be used for any number, unlike our system which requires multiple for numbers above 9.
The only problem with this though is that it gets really unwieldy, really fast. Getting up to 11-12 is fine. You can just about get up to 17-18 and still have it easily readable, but after that it gets increasingly more difficult to fit everything in and still have the symbol recognisable at a glance. There are number systems that allow for one symbol per number even for much larger ones (I think Cistercian numerals are pretty neat and worth a google) but the inherent design of the Matoran symbols just doesn’t allow for easily readable higher numbers.
That’s why I’m proposing instead of a base 6 system with only one symbol per number, the Matoran might use a base 12 system with increasing digits per multiple of 12. I think this gives us the best of both worlds: we can extrapolate out the repeating symbols hinted at in the canon version, but not to such a degree that the symbols for higher numbers become functionally useless. Plus, as counting systems go, base 12 is actually really useful. It’s highly divisible, whilst still being small enough to have an easy number of individual symbols to memorise (unlike the even more highly divisible base 60).
What do you think?

That one based Porco Rosso screenshot, except it's Kamen Rider instead. Pretty self-explanatory.

depends on what you define as the beginning of humanity. But if we assume homosapiens
then they 100% would have been using spears
so heart shaped rocks on the end of sticks being chucked like this
The cupids in Love Bullet used to use bows but switched to guns when they were invented bc they’re more effective. Do you think before bows were invented they were using slings? What about the cupids from the beginning of humanity, were they just chucking heart shaped rocks at people?

Kamen rider series tier list (so far)
list of all the Kamen rider shows I've watched so far. I'll probably update every 5 series.
I got review for each show under the (tank's show review) tag
In order from least to most liked.
Kabuto: it was nice but it has such missed potential and unresolved things, perhaps on a rewatch I'll enjoy it more knowing where it goes so I won't be saddled with anticipation for things that never get resolved, but for now it's my least favorite. Character are still great tho.
Geats: honestly don't remember much about it, not much of it stuck with me but I remember generally enjoying it as it went along.
Faiz: it was really engaging with great drama between characters and a great beginning mystery which ended up mostly resolved. Only truly let down by a cliff hanger of an ending.
Build: great characters, best villain of the entire list, with a constantly evolving plot that makes sense, and a fulfilling bitter sweet ending that leaves it open to continuation without being a cliff hanger.
Kuuga: an absolutely amazing series of a good natured man being saddled with a responsibility he doesn't want but must carry and how it affects him. It is a classical super hero story. It is PEAK
Up next. IDK maybe OOO's, maybe go back and finish W, or maybe even Gaim. IDK might make it a pole.

Just finished Kamen Rider Faiz. SPOILERS FOR FAIZ SPOILERS FOR FAIZ
Fuck my traditional opening. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT ENDING? That's not an ending. That's a fucking cliff hanger. Is... Is there a movie after this? Cuz everything's telling me paradise lost isn't canon. The orpenoch King is still alive. All the orpenoch's "except the evil girl" are still dying. Yet all the orpenoch's are still alive? You're really gonna end a series saying "the main character is dying btw" AND NOT SHOW HIM DYING????? And the main villain is STILL ALIVE?!?!!
If you're gonna tell us that all orpenoch's are actively dying. Commit to the idea and give us the bitter sweet ending of them dying but seeing the better world they leave behind and dying in peace or a heroic sacrifice. Don't fucking give us the "look at how beautiful the world is everything's working out fine." THE MAIN CHARACTER IS LITTERALLY DYING GUYS. It's so sudden and off beat I'm convincing myself the endings a dream sequence.
The finale was great the 2 focus characters fighting each other now having their ideals swapped from where the series began, both starting with the belt only for it to be knocked off and then to continue fighting as orpenoch's. It's peak and a wonderful conclusion to their conflict leading into them working together to defeat the orpenoch King.
BUT WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT????
The opening of the show was great with wonderful set up to mystery, and showing us orpenoch's as the focus of the show rather than the rider. Mari being determined to uncover what's happening and takumi being the unwilling hero was a nice dynamic. Though eventually Mari ends up losing that determination and becoming more of a side character. There being a secondary group of main characters was a great choice to delve into the main conflict of the orpenoch's. Kaido's introductory episode was a master piece.
But still... WHAT THE FUCK FAIZ!!!!!!!!!!!!???!!!
I give it a
Still a better ending than Kamen Rider Kabuto/10
#kamen rider faiz#kamen rider 555#kamen rider#tank's show review#oh also kaixa sucked he deserved to die#also they really introduced a powerful girl kamen rider just to have her get killed as soon as we find out she got killed#only for delta to be Massively nerfed after that
