Social media is cool because someone can say “hey here’s a rumor without any kind of source” and then everyone immediately just takes it as fact. Then when it’s proven to be wrong they just say “well isn’t it scary that I thought it could have been true”
No, it’s scary that you just take any information you hear at face value without question and parade it around as fact. 🙃

I had already mostly stopped using twitter but now I’m being bombarded by follows and messages from spam accounts and I have even less reason to use it now. They’re doing a really great job over there!!
Anyway, here’s a picture of my dog.

This is obnoxious but I’m doing it anyway
I’ve been trying to put my thoughts into words on the current changes at Twitter for a while now, so I’ve finally taken the time to write this out the best I can. Who is this post for? I don’t know, I just felt like I had to get this off my chest. I really liked using Twitter and the decline in quality has been obvious over the past few weeks. I think Twitter’s strongest point is entertainment. It’s great for memes and entertainment, but it’s also a great place to get real-time updates in some situations. I browse the #dfwwx tag when there’s severe weather in our area and it’s very helpful. Selfishly, it’s also the place where I get the best engagement for my music and other projects. The problem is Elon seems dead set on making it THE place for political discussion and debate, and the internet is the worst place to have those conversations.
Just because the internet allows us to communicate with more people than ever before doesn’t mean that it’s the best place to do that. When you’re talking with someone in person it’s much easier to tell whether the other side is trying to have a good-faith discussion or not. There’s physical and tonal feedback you can get from the others when you’re talking face to face. Over the internet you really have no clue what the other person’s intentions are. Is it a troll trying to rile people up, or is it someone who genuinely wants to understand the other side? You can probably tell if they’re laying it on thick, but I imagine a lot of times they just want to make their point, not hear another word about it and move on. Or as I’ve seen a lot, eventually just break down the conversation into personal insults.
Elon himself and his ongoing campaign of “Anyone who doesn’t want to support Twitter hates free speech!” is an excellent example of the bad-faith conversations you see over there every single day. He likes to put an on act that he has good intentions but his actions have always proven the opposite. If the public has a criticism about him he’s, at best, going to respond in memes or give some reply that purposefully ignores or misconstrues the point trying to be made. At worst, he’ll publicly accuse you of being a pedophile to millions of people for simply standing up to him. I think this is what makes him one of the worst people to run Twitter, let alone make it a genuine platform for serious discussions.
People are also likely to be more inflammatory to others online than they would be in person. There’s a LOT of people you see on Twitter being rude or verbally abusive to others that wouldn’t even think about saying these things to others in public. Some would, but most wouldn’t. You just aren’t going to have the same quality of discussion on Twitter as you would in person.
Then there’s the case of character limits. You can reply to your tweet over and over again until you’ve gotten the point across, but the way threading works you may not actually see everything someone wrote and part of the discussion just gets lost in the back and forth. The way Twitter is set up is inherently bad for long-form discussion because you have to reduce your thoughts down to 280 characters for your best shot at everything being seen. This is not good for discussing any issue. Twitter is a good source of entertainment, and sometimes information, but it’s a terrible place to have a serious discussion. I haven’t bought into the belief that Twitter will be dead in a few weeks or months, but trying to force it to be something it is inherently not will lead to the collapse of the site eventually. Somehow, I don’t think that attempting to bully people into using and advertising on the site is going to help either.

Yeah I think tumblr is where I’m sticking around for now. I’ll still use Twitter for promoting my music but the site is worse than ever and the discourse around most any topic is just incredibly bad and worthless. I’ve had the app uninstalled for a week, forcing me to use the web version, and I’ve pretty much broken my habit of checking it at all now.
Hive is missing many things it needs to be a serious competitor.
Mastodon seems okay I guess, but I’ve already run into a couple of frustration functionality issues.
Tumblr has the infrastructure and features almost anyone would need, I’m seriously surprised it keeps getting overlooked for the other two options that both have big issues right now.

I love when YouTube TV notifies me that a soccer game is on, so I tap the notification and it says I need an add-on package to watch it, but then basically hides that a channel I already pay for is also airing it. 🤡

Beefy + tanner4105 Patreon summary for October
Hello friends! We’ve got two new tracks and a podcast for you on our Patreon. As usual we’re always staying busy and uploading new music and content every month. Join us!
Yeah I Do - https://www.patreon.com/posts/filler-arc-73536368 Do I get way more support than I deserve for making silly raps? Yeah I do!I asked Tanner for something more upbeat than what we have been rocking lately and he delivered in spades!
Filler Arc - https://www.patreon.com/posts/filler-arc-73536368
One of my favorite roles to play in my raps is that of badass. For this track I thought to myself, what is the most disrespectful thing you can say about someone who prides themselves on their nerd-ness? Obviously it is questioning their purpose in the overall narrative. Clowns.
Top 10 Halloween Handouts - Episode 8 - https://www.patreon.com/posts/top-10-halloween-73984890
In this episode the boys breakdown the very best and worst items to give and receive on Halloween. There is also discussion about cowboy boots, Tanner being a shill, squeezeboxes, Dreamlight Valley, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Dicey Dungeons, Death Road to Canada, weekend long livestreams for the children including BIG DEVELOPMENTS, and much more!

Bass synth layers in ableton. Three are in the mid to high end range and one is used for the sub bass. Synth patches were created in Reaktor.
