School work has been overwhelming, sometime the anger and frustration wanted to lead me to just tear my drawings and sketches into pieces. At that moment, the feeling to scream that I would do when I was tearing the paper! These thoughts led me to find photos of scream faces and torn collage of facial expression. Art work by Jiri Kolar in Tate museum has an alternative twist of two facial expression in one piece of work which was rather interesting almost like having a split personality.
Textile sample 1 used a sample scream photo found on the internet to try onto soft netting fabric. The outcome was good but need to change the photo away. Hence I created my own scream photo.
Textile sample 2, was a mix with another technique and inspiration. The image was painted with black paint to express the darkness surrounding me at that moment when I was screaming. The mood created on this sample was interesting and raw I felt.
Textile sample 3, taking inspiration from Jiri Kolar artwork from Tate Museum, was another trail version of tearing the photo into parts and paint all over the torn area. However, the outcome presented was rather not impactful. Hence should remove the idea of tearing and painting the fabrics inbetween the torn area.
Final Strike-off 1, was a dye-sublimation printed fabric. It was a fade printed with black paint surrounding my screaming face. Strike-off 2 and 3, was also  printed by using sublimation technique. The image of my screaming face was superimpose onto the strike-off name : Frustration 1 using photo-shop before printing on to the fabric.Strike-off 3 uses a sport lining fabric as base to be printed on. This is to create another alternative subtle mood to the image.

The “messy layering” square cubes pictures stir up my interest. This cubic picture to me expressed multi-layers of thoughts that overlay one another and linked to one another. The thick lines on the cubes reminded me of the black tape on the white board wall, which I imagined both images merging together.
Textile sample 1:- Depicted the fade shadows created by layering of the cubes on the inspired picture. I created the multi-layers of triangular folds on the soft netting fabric to mimic the effect of the picture.
Textile sample 2:- As mentioned earlier, I imagined the two pictures were to merge into one. It will be square cubes with tapes on them. Hence, this textile sample tried to create base of this merging idea.
Textile sample 3:- Moving a step forward with the idea from textile sample 1 and 2. I thought of using only square cube netting fabric with black tapes cut in squares too. The layering of square cubes is taken from the cube picture. I was thinking about each problem in our mind having multi layers of different issues and problems within them, hence the cubes were randomly stacked on one another.
Final fabric strike-off were taken from the textile samples created. Fabric strike-off 1 was the triangular folded textile overlay with another black netting fabrication to create interesting layering effect and also random lines onto the fabric. Strike-off 2 is the layering of soft netting cube with black tape lines. Strike-off 3, created with just a single base layer of netting fabrication with stacks of different sized square cubes and black tapes. In strike-off 4, there were new input to the textile. There were 3 layers of netting base, one layer as base and two layers were cut in different gradual length. The layering gave the strike-off different shades from light to dark. At the same time, the square cubes gradually changes from spacious to closely placed at the darker shaded area of the textile strike-off.

Inspired by the same smashed glass window, which I felt it could express a person explosion of extreme anger and frustration, combined with black mosaics which have an interesting shine and matte texture surfaces and also the clean linear lines of the mosaic formation.
The swatch sample created was an direct interpretation of broken glass window with shine and matte surface texture. However the lines seem too rigid and not messy like a crack glass “lines”. The black paint mixture will crack when the fabric stretches and it looks like the smashed glass window. The contrast shine and matte surface made the sample interesting and unusual. I also like the linear and clean lines of the mosaic picture which inspired me to combine it into doing stripes with shine and matte surface onto the painted black stripes.
The final strike-off was painted with stripes of black paint mixture on the knit fabric with shine and matte surfaces ( see close up photo). The paint cracked when fabric was stretched and exposed the white fabric beneath it.
Final Fabric Strike-off :-

I was attracted by the visual work created by Craig Royal. The photo gave me the sense of fast anxious “brush stroke” feel which is totally in contrast with the parallel linear blue fence. The combination of these two contrasting factor interest me. In addition, the photos of the white board fence with black tape stickers gave me the idea of randomness and unexpectedness, that created surprising messiness and chaos too.
Textile sample 1 :- coloured PVC tapes were used to create the linear lines like the blue fence photo where the coloured tapes were inspired by Craig Royal visual work. However, the tape colours were too bright and sharp which is not what I should be working on. The colours of the tapes must change.
Textile sample 2:-  Colour tapes were changed to only silver grey, white and black. The tapes were pulled and taped onto the white fabrics and then flatten. The pulling of tapes creates the tension of force and I was trying to make the fabric to look distressed. The outcome of this sample do not provide a unique visual outcome instead it looked “dirty”. It should have the sense of messiness but yet somewhat neatly done.
Textile sample 3 :- After my trip to Premiere Vision in Paris, my perspective of textile changed. The fabric can be folded and pleated with the tapes over it and let it hold them together. The manipulation of textile do not necessary has to be always flat. This textile sample uses black, silver/grey and white PVC tapes onto the black cotton white striped fabrication. The tapes holds the pleats and folds created on the fabrication. The random uneven folds and pleats depicted the messiness of linear lines. The long and different width tapes added the planned messiness of the textile manipulation created.
Textile sample 4:- On this sample, a netting sports lining fabrication was used. The random fold and pleats were applied here too. This sample would be in all black just like the tapes used on the photos that taped the white board. The colour way gave a darker mood and mystery if it was created onto a garment.
Four fabrics strike-off were created based on this inspiration. They were mainly pleated and folded randomly. PVC tapes of 2 different width were used to create these four strike-off. Strike-off 1 used white based polyester fabric with fine black stripes that often used in business wear combined with all black PVC tapes. Strike-off 2 used a soild black cotton stretch and silver/grey, white and black PVC tapes. Strike-off 3 used a non stretch netting fabrication with all black PVC tapes that gave a sporty feel to the look. Strike-off 4 used black base cotton stretch fabric with white stripes and all black PVC tapes which is similar to strike-off 1 had the urban business shirty feel to the textile.

Inspiration picture shows messy scribbling which usually when one felt stressed with anxiety. On contradictory, the other photo shows layers of paper art cut/torn with uneven edges to create the opening in the middle. Each photo has its take of messiness. I mix the principle ideas together to create the uneven textile of fabrications that combined with zig-zag stitch line that looks like scribbling.
Textile sample 1- used two different fabrics that were cut unevenly and placed them overlapping of each other which was inspired by the paper cut artwork photo. They were all stitched together by zig-zag machine to create the “scribbling” effect of messiness. I like to explore different mix of fabrication together, this sample used two different sporty net lining fabrication to create the textile swatch. However, felt that maybe can explore another different sporty fabric to be added onto this textile idea when creating the strike-off.
Textile Sample 2 - used three different fabrics to create the swatch. Using the irregular cut/tear of the paper art, I edge stitched the different strips of fabrics together. However I find it too clean and regular that was not messy enough. It did not express the emotion that I was trying to achieve. Hence, I feel that the fabrication strips should be placed in a more random manner and then edged with zig-zag stitches. At the same time, add other fabrics to give the feel of different texture and messy mood.

The first picture on this post is the inspiration photo of a broken glass window. When someone is frustrated, he or she may become violent and start to be destructive. This photo is an expression of frustration and anxiety that resulted in breaking glass panels.
From the photo, I picked up the contrast of shining reflective surface with the matte shadow. The distinctive crack lines formed on the glass window can be stimulated as wrinkles on the textile. I attempted to use the cellophane paper to create the shiny effect of the broken glass window.
Textile sample 1- shows the cellophane paper was crushed after it was bonded onto black cotton voile to create the “broken glass” effect.
Textile sample 2- Besides crushing effect on the cellophane paper, I used a fancy “netting” fabrication to added onto a flatten cellophane paper with black cotton voile as backing. The irregularity weave of the netting formed the visual lines of the crack glass that I was trying to create.
Textile sample 3 - I want to create the crack line of the glass to look more define and obvious. Instead of crushing the textile after the cellophane was bonded to the black cotton voile, I crushed the cellophane first and then bonded the crushed cellophane onto the black cotton voile.
Textile sample 4 - To create more chaos, I used different coloured cellophane  paper like green, red, purple and white/ grey. The green cellophane paper used on this sample will be changed for the actual fabric strike-off. These crushed cellophane paper were combined onto a black cotton voile. At the same time added a layer of fancy net fabrication over the swatch to create more texture.

This collection will consist of mainly black, charcoal grey and white as explained earlier in the design intent. Black and charcoal display the emotions of frustration and confusion state of mind, while the white colour to express clearer thoughts and mood. Deep purple, red and mustard green will be used as the highlight of the collection or subtly used.

The designs are for both men and women. The garments are made for people who appreciate quirky designs and like to mix styles and brands too. They set their own rules and are confident of themselves. They enjoy traveling around the globe whenever possible and pretty much tech savvy individuals. They would keep fit and enjoy going to exhibitions and the arts.

This storyboard basically explains the few chaotic emotions that I am feeling while going through the Journey. The feeling of frustration, confusion, fear and anxiety, which finally must “crack” open to get out of the situation.
These emotions are expressed through the expressive scribbling line drawings that create the messy chaos or layers of “netting” over one another.
