Dragon vocals!
When i first found out that i was dragonkin, i was a little confused on vocals. I didn’t know what sounds dragons made or how to make those sounds. So, i’ve made a list of sounds and how to do them, i hope this helps :) Lmk if i missed any sounds!
Growl - this is a low, deep sound that should come from the back of your throat. Try making an ‘r’ sound! You can look at videos of other animals (like big cats) growling to get an idea of the noise!
Hiss - This is similar to how a cat hisses! When a dragon does it, it’s generally much lower and slower than a cats fast, high-pitched hiss. Try to make a ‘sh’ sound but stress on the ‘s’. Your tongue should be on the top of your mouth, with the sound coming from either side.
Roar - This can be a little tricky, it’s not just shouting! It’s a bit similar to the growl. It should be low and deep, with a bit of ‘rumble’ to it. Try saying ‘roar’ but less definitively. You shouldn’t be ‘saying’ it, but follow the pattern, if that makes sense? Start by growling (your ‘r’ sound), followed by a deep ‘shout’ (the ‘oa’) and then back down to a growl (the ‘r’ again.) This can be noisy so practice when you’re home alone or in a sound proof room so you don’t disturb your family and neighbours too much!
Next is the ‘emotional’ noises. Now, really, a dragon can make a variety of noises other than hiss, growl and roar, so these aren’t set in stone. Feel free to do whatever feels natural! But these are just some basic emotional sounds to give a bit of a guideline.
To show love - Dragons may ‘purr’ like cats, however it will be a bit different. A dragons purring is mostly a growl, but softer and quieter. You can watch videos of cats purring to get an idea!
To show aggression - Dragons will growl and roar loudly when aggressive! They may also hiss.
To show fear - When a dragon is scared they may ‘whimper’, like a hiss but softer, or they may growl to show that they will fight. To make the ‘whimper’ or hiss noise, make a hissing noise then make it quieter and softer. When growling in fear you can add a bit of a stutter.
To alert - Dragons will likely make a high pitched, loud noise like a screech. It may have a bit of panic to it. Think of it like a ‘hree’ or ‘shree’ but loud, like you’re shouting it! To make it, say ‘hree’ or ‘shree’, but like a roar, don’t define the word too much. Make it high pitched!
Keep in mind, you don’t have to do all of these, or any at all! make whatever noises feel natural. For the emotional ones, they can be useful for doing quadrobics or mental shifts! It makes you feel pretty connected and natural, making the same noise as your kintype would to react :)

Weird Dragonkin Things I Do
So after getting mildly distressed and, for some reason, tossing my head around and gnashing my teeth while lamenting how short and inelegant my neck is, I figured I'd make a list of the things that, when I pull back to imagine what it must look/sound like with my current body, make me laugh. Specifically the dragonkin stuff.
Tossing my head around like I have a long, elegant neck and not this terribly short one. Makes me dizzy if I do it particularly viciously which has the added benefit of being a fun experience for me.
Gnashing/baring my teeth, could also sometimes be related to other kintypes but definitely fits as it really should be far more intimidating than it is. Does have the added benefit of sometimes helping soothe my anxiety depending on the cause. I will add that I don't gnash my teeth very hard, I am gentle with them because I know my current teeth cannot take the kind of pressure the ones I should have would be able to. I don't want to have a broken tooth.
Growling/making weird growl-ish noises. They're not the same but they feel like the closest my current body can produce to what my dragon body could do. Some of them are surprisingly expressive and I always feel a bit better after successfully expressing my emotions with one of these odd sounds (though I only really do it when I'm alone).
Biting into bread or meat or really anything I can take a nice big bite out of and shaking the hell out of it to tear off a bite (all the while lamenting how much more effective it'd be with a greater range of motion for my head, and sharper teeth). Occasionally messy (only occasionally because I tend not to do it with messy foods, I never did like getting food on my scales anyway) but immensely satisfying.
Shaking my back/shoulders to sort of resettle my wings (works really well when my phantom wings won't fREAKING COOPERATE and they're in my way). Most of my body doesn't actually move and I feel like it probably looks bizarre, I don't think I've seen humans doing it, maybe it's just super inconspicuous and I just feel like it's bigger than it is but still.
Walking on my toes/the balls of my feet (Another one that crosses kintype boundaries but still. I've caught myself doing this one unintentionally and funny story, I've been told that I walk "weird" by my mom and she blames herself for not making me walk on her feet when I was little????, I blame me not being internally human and at least half my kintypes being digitigrade, it's WEIRD having plantigrade feet). Balance is hard without a tail and I wobble around like a hatchling trying to stand on two legs but it's fun.
Feel free to add your own if you want, Idk, maybe it'll make others feel less alone. But obviously no pressure if you don't want to.

Sometimes, when I walk on the streets, I feel like my body ends further than it actually does. I feel heavier than this body actually is.
It feels easy and comfortable, and the feeling of confidence coming with it is more than welcomed.

Questioning dragons.. what about lizards?
I’ve been around for a while and have come across many dragons, a popular kintype indeed, but a lot of the traits I see in some of them.. I often wonder if they could actually be lizards. It makes me think of there being some sort of ‘chihuahua effect’, like how a small dog that thinks or acts like they are bigger than they actually are? Instead maybe its a lizard that believes it is a lot bigger or mightier than it really is. You know, there are so many different species of lizards that you might actually possibly be, especially if you are going by phantom limbs or certain types of shifting. Scales, tails, spikes or crests.. if you think about it, you may very well be a lizard! They are all amazing creatures after all, and come in so many different kinds, shapes and colors. I put together this little list with some facts to showcase a few, but hey, only you know who or what you are. Maybe this can help someone out who is going through a questioning stage, or point them in the right direction to finding out something about themselves.

Bearded Dragon
Native to Australia, bearded dragons are found in the woodland and desert areas. They spend most of their time in bushes and trees, and are also found basking on rocks. In extreme heat, they will burrow underground. A diurnal species, they are awake during the day and sleep at night. Their diet consists of insects, plants, and small mammals as an omnivore.

Sungazer (Giant Girdled Lizard)
Native to sub-Saharan Africa, the sungazer, also known as the giant girdled lizard, or giant dragon lizard, is a heavily armored species, covered in thick scales that jut out like spikes. They live in self-excavated burrows and are often found basking on rocks. Their diet consists of mostly insects, but they will eat small vertebrates on occasion.

Chinese Water Dragon
Native to southern China and southeast Asia, Chinese water dragons are found along the banks of freshwater streams. They are active during the day and sleep at night, usually spending their time in trees or plants. When threatened they escape to the water and can stay submerged for up to 25 minutes. Their diet consists of insects and some small mammals.

Green Basilisk (aka Jesus Christ Lizard)
Native to central america, the green basilisk is an excellent swimmer and able to stay submerged for 30 minutes. It’s ability to run on top of water has also given it the name: Jesus Christ lizard. It is awake during the day and sleeps at night, spending most of its time in plants or trees along rivers. Its diet consists of insects, plants, fruit, and small vertebrates.

Vietnamese/Spotted Flying Dragon
Native to Indo-China, Sumatra, Java, and Kalimantan, flying dragons are found in humid tropical forests. Using their “wings”, the extra skin growing from their sides, they can glide up to 100ft. As insectivores their main diet consists of ants and termites. These are arboreal lizards and spend most of their time in the canopy of trees.

Black Tree Monitor
Native to the Aru islands of New Guinea, black tree monitors are arboreal lizards are found living in trees. Its tail is rather long and prehensile, that it uses to stabilize itself on branches. Their diet consists of insects, small lizards, small mammals, scorpions, and bird eggs.

Nile Monitor
Native to Africa, nile monitors are found in the desert regions, though they thrive around rivers. They have strong muscular bodies as well as sharp claws used for climbing, digging, defense, and tearing at prey. With nostrils placed high on their snouts, they are highly aquatic and spend a lot of time in the water. Their diet consists of fish, snails, frogs, crocodile eggs, snakes, birds, small mammals, and carrion.

Asian Water Monitor
Native to south and southeast Asia, water monitors are found frequently on river banks and in swamps. Semi-aquatic, they are excellent swimmers and are known to cross over large stretches of water. They create and live in burrows along the riverbank. Their diet consists of fish, crabs, birds, rodents, birds, frogs, and snakes.

Crocodile Monitor
Native to New Guinea, crocodile monitors inhabit the high and low canopies of the lowland rainforests and mangrove swamps. They are an arboreal species and use their powerful claws for climbing, and can stand up on their hind legs to observe their surroundings. Their diet consists of birds, eggs, small mammals, and carrion.
_______________________________________________________________
These are only 9 species that I have showcased here, there are thousands more. If you’re feeling scaly and don’t know quite what you are, there’s a chance you might just be a lizard, or any other reptile for that matter. The answer isn’t always dragon folks. For some, sure it is, but if you look a little closer, there may be more other reptiles out there.
