Unsexed 1/2" Pterinopelma sazimai, not pictured as the tiny booger dug and would be difficult to get a pic of.
Unsexed 1/3" Aphonopelma chalcodes sling that's far too cute for me to handle.
Unsexed (but ventral has me hopeful for a female) 1 1/2" Ephebopus uatuman that has the prettiest purple iridescence I've ever seen. That picture does her no justice.
And last but not least, a 4"+ female Aphonopelma hentzi, minus a leg. Even with her missing leg, she seems like a very sweet and calm T. My friend named her Amber on the way home from the expo. 😊
And to top it all off, one of the vendors wants to buy my remaining N. incei slings from Nugget's egg sac! An incredibly successful outing.
Look at those adorable little jelly legs! Once those harden up enough, this little booger will be getting a rehouse. Easily sitting at 1″ DLS now, if not just a touch over.
0.0.1 Harpactira pulchripes - Golden Blue-Legged Baboon Tarantula
After several months of patience, my first breeding loan with my first mature male (RIP Lautrec 💔) has finally paid off; meet Lucatiel, Aslatiel, and Creighton!
It was a small sac (even by Idiothele mira standards) with a 50/50 split of the slings, which left me with 3 of the 6 total. There's still another female that has yet to drop or molt, so there COULD be more, but alas I'm more than happy to just get a few of my old boy's babies. Fingers crossed at least ONE turns out female.
The guy I did the loan with also tossed in a couple gifts - a little Avicularia ulrichea sling and an Avicularia aurantiaca sling! Adorable little things, they've been named Lyoko (ulrichea) and Aelita (aurantiaca).
Did a few rehouses yesterday, including Zenyatta here. She was my third tarantula, and seeing this T go from the .5″ brown sling she was to the ~4″ subadult she is now has gone from one of the most frustrating to one of the most rewarding experiences of keeping Ts. Such a sweet and docile T.
How NOT to compliment someone’s pets that are “creepy crawly” type animals:
Usually I hate *insert animal here* but yours is nice
*Insert animal here* are so gross/icky/ugly but this is a nice photo!
Usually I’m terrified of and will kill *insert animal here* but that one is pretty cute
Basically anything about how gross, nasty, creepy etc that specific species of animal but oh, no, it’s okay that I called them a horrible little monster because I also called them cute!! uwu
How to compliment someone’s pets that are “creepy crawly” type animals:
The same way you compliment a dog or cat? Literally just say something nice? It’s not that hard???
Like I don’t care if a snake killed your aunts cousins brothers nephews dog, there’s no excuse for telling someone that their animal (you know, the creature that they love and care for) is ugly, nasty, etc
Seriously if someone left a comment on a picture of your dog like “Usually I kill those on site but yours is kinda cool” you would be fucking outraged, so why is it okay to tell that to someone who has a pet snake?
I don’t care if you have a phobia, don’t leave shitty rude comments on pictures of peoples pets
my pet tarantula: launches herself at a cricket with so much force it causes her to perform a barrel roll, bump against the wall of the terrarium, ricochet off the glass and land on her back in her water dish
me: fucking superb you funky little instinct-driven predator
