The Timeless Child, and the Doctor's Choice.
Fairly simple, fairly straightforward—I don't like the idea of the Timeless Child. I never have. I hate how it removes the mystique from the Time Lords, how it supplants the idea of the first Doctor we saw—the one everyone treated as the original—being the original, how it leaves the Time Lords with no spark of genius of their own. How it takes an ordinary Time Lord, just one of his species who said "Why?" and could have been followed by so many others, into the source of their power, stolen from her/him for a billion years. How it invalidates the thirteen lives of the Doctor, the need to grant him extra lives in his Eleventh incarnation.
But there are those who like it for other reasons. The corruption in Time Lord society is often brought up, how it reveals something terrible about the seemingly benevolent people—enslaving a Child for eternity to grant themselves youth and power aplenty.
So why not have the Doctor be a part of that, instead?
Tumblr media
Yes, that's exactly it. Make the Timeless Child into the Eye of Harmony.
We've had living suns before, after all.
Tumblr media
(Sorry for bringing it up, but still.)
And consider the implications of a living being turned into a singularity, an anchor point for all eternity to wrap and warp itself around. A living being whose very existence is pain, a Child (only a billion years old, if that) endlessly on the brink of death, a shining star dragged ever closer to utter destruction every single time someone looks into the future or past, or regenerates…
Or uses a TARDIS.
Tumblr media
Imagine Thirteen, discovering this.
Imagine Thirteen, discovering that her entire past—her fifteen lives, travelling the cosmos—prolonged and amplified the agony of a Child, made Timeless by removal from Time itself.
Imagine Thirteen, discovering that her TARDIS, her oldest friend, her constant companion, is powered by the screams of the damned.
(Imagine Thirteen, wondering about the Time Lords' solemn and often-broken vow since the days of Rassilon not to interfere in the universe's affairs. One last piece of penance from an ancient Lord who discovered too late what he had done? Or cynical pragmatism, seeking not to wear out the source of power and nigh-immortality?)
Imagine Thirteen, now caught between two horrible choices. She can let the whole matter drop, and continue doing what she can in the universe, and know that for the rest of her life she will be torturing a Child who has been in agony for a billion years, was one of the billions of children the War Doctor had to kill, screamed and cried while her TARDIS sang and her young companions—children, too—saw the wonders of the universe.
Or she can free the Child, and kill the TARDIS, and destroy Gallifrey in toto. (For the Eye of Harmony is a part of the planet, as much as it is part of the TARDIS. Remove it, and Gallifrey would be turned to antimatter.)
Tumblr media
And so the question is no longer: who was the Doctor before she was the Doctor? The question is: who will the Doctor choose to be?

i would die for thrissy, which is fortunate because they are probably going to be the death of me
what do you mean missy would see she couldn't be better. and she can't know why. she can't know what happened. but she knows she failed and she goes back to twelve anyway she keeps trying to make it work with him even though she has proof from seeing thirteen that it never will. what do you MEAN the doctor has to find a balance between seeing the missy she trusted, the missy who left her, or the person who burned their home when she looks at her. she has to decide whether or not to be kind to someone who has hurt her so much, especially lately. she doesn't know if being kind can do anything. it's hard to be kind here and it's likely she'll be cruel. taking her anger towards the master out on missy when she doesn't know what she did. she can't change what happened. she can't. but she still knows if she killed missy, in theory gallifrey would be safe

Negative: no resolution of
The snow that Ruby can summon bc she is Special
Susan
Rogue
the subplot about Shirley and her friends trying to kill god
Like some of that was expected but after two episodes of Susan hints, literally nothing!?

And just to add Another level of hurt to his plethora or issues, the master’s got to deal with the fact that not only did 13 Not detonate the bomb that would prove them equal in death, but that she also let Some Random Human Companion do it for her, further cementing to him that he’s nothing more than any of her other tag alongs.
