SHE SEES LIFE THROUGH THE SCOPE OF A GUN, targets moving and struck with precision. he sees through shades of red, singular sight towards one goal. somehow, he’d wound up under that scope, studied under her critical eye –and he can’t deny the results. she sees more clearly than him, up from her perch where targets fall beneath her, open to her surroundings. enough to see him charging towards that one goalpost day after day, for better or for worse. 

she’s right –he doesn’t want her to be. because admitting she’s right means admitting he’s struggling, that he sees a failure in himself for all he can’t do. but maybe…just maybe he wants her to hear her say he’s more than that.

                INSOMNIAC , A KILLER QUEEN . one whom sleep evades , she who nestles herself in the shadows as though they were her bedding .  she holds the whole world at her fingertips in the dim violet light of her bedroom .  she’s watched many nights as the other wrestled with sleep , turning over against whatever horror haunted her in sleep .  but tonight is markedly disstinct : tonight , she rouses herself awake in a cold sweat with a start , calling out in a tongue the infiltrator cannot quite discern .  it captures her attention instantaneously , like an error in a line of code .  something unusual , worrisome .

this moment is rare both for the spider’s vulnerability and the way the hacker’s heart pangs in her chest at the sight of her .  her expression is softened at the sight of her , violet limbs prying themselves from the myriad of screens before her to perch at the sniper’s side , palm soothing over trembles shoulders and brushing strewn braids from lover’s visage .     ❛     it’s okay  …  i’m here .     ❜
