Tataruweek: Day 7 Happily Ever After
After securing a ring and renting out one of the finest restaurants in Ul'dah, Tataru received one of the nicest surprises she's ever had.
The trials that had led up to such a moment made it feel so much sweeter.

Tataru Week - Day 7 - Sunset / Happily Ever After
Tumblr media
Oscar looked the picnic basket over again carefully.
He had remembered to pack all the right utensils and had properly strapped in all the plates they would need. The snacks were stored safely so he wouldn't have to worry about them getting crushed. Again.
He accidentally crushed the cookies the last time. They wound up spreading the chunks over ice cream. Which was nice. It had tasted great.
Tataru told him, when they were making their plans, that she would make the tea for them. She said she had found a new type that she believed they would both enjoy.
Oscar smiled at the thought before gently closing the picnic basket.
---
Tataru couldn't help but smile as she opened the picnic basket. The walnut bread smelled lovely. She could but hope their would be enough left over in the morning to make La Noscean toast with.
She allowed herself to linger on the sight for a moment before turning to Oscar who was watching the kettle for her. "It should be ready Oscar."
He nodded quietly before getting to work on prepping the tea as she had instructed him to. "It smells wonderful, Tataru."
"Doesn't it though," She grinned as she started slicing the bread.
The two fell into a comfortable silence after this and once they had finished preparing the tea and snack both they left the Waking Sands so they might get a better view of the sunset over the bay.
"So, I double checked last night and the Balance will definitely be visible tonight." Oscar noted as he placed their little picnic on of the many crates.
"That sounds splendid," Tataru replied as she climbed onto the chair they had set up. "Will we be seeing anything else?"
Oscar smiled. "Yup. It'll be incredible, Tataru. I promise."

Tataru Week Day 7 - Happily Ever After
Tumblr media
"Tataru Taru... I love running errands with you, I love getting into trouble with you, and I love getting out of it. I love coming home to you, and I want to keep coming home to you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?"
"Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!"
...I don't think I've ever been as passionate about a fictional character before as I am about Tataru Taru. I didn't see it coming at all when I started the game, and I didn't even know it would turn into this when I started shipping my wol with her. It just grew and grew, and it made me a lot of friends along the way! I'm really grateful to everyone who likes my ship and says cute things about it, and everyone who likes to listen when I talk about them (Twelve know I can get pretty one-note about her sometimes LOL). I'm so happy with how Tataru week went, and overjoyed that I got to help bring a fanweek to her.
Thank you, everyone!

FFXIV Tataru Week 2025 Day ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well, life got in the way of doing the rest of the Tataru Week prompts, so I decided to use this last day to take her to the moon just for funsies.
Tumblr media
New metallic dye! Tataru is now shiny ✨
Tumblr media
Tataru gives Orbitingway a stern talking to about how all those useless magicked prisms are bad for customer retention. (And also if they give her another set of said prisms then with the gods as her witness - !)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course, a little vacuum suit mayhem. As a treat.

Tataru: "This evening has been wonderful!"
Tumblr media
Tataru: "I would love to watch the sunset before bed but It seems we can't see it from here"
Tumblr media
Johnny: "I have an idea!"
Tumblr media
Tataru: "Are you sure this is safe?!"
Johnny: "Don't worry, I've done this before!"
Tumblr media
Tataru: "Well that was terrifying but the view was worth it, thanks Johnny"
Tumblr media
I wanted to do something for Tataru week but like lalapril, I could only come up with an idea for one of the prompts haha.

Tataru Week - Day 6 - Goals / Secrets
Tataru would never call herself a morning person. Not exactly. She could function well enough without coffee or tea. And she could focus well enough to tell salt from sugar. Unlike a certain coworker who once made the mistake of putting the wrong one in their tea.
Which meant that, other than Minfilia and sometimes Thancred, she was usually one of the first to arrive and start her work in the morning.
"Ah. Good morning, Tataru. I just started up the kettle. It should be ready in a couple of minutes." Sana greeted with a surprising amount of energy. "Tataru?"
This, if anyone were to ask, would be the reason she would give for how startled she was.
"Tataru? Are you all right?"
"Thal's balls, Sana!" Tataru gasped as Sana helped her up. For a mercy, Sana at least had the decency to look apologetic. "Are you always awake so early?"
"Yes. It's one of the best times for training." Sana answered after a moment, brow raised. "I actually got to spar with Yugiri today." She smiled as she said this.
Tataru merely tried not to picture it as she climbed into her desk chair and started to get ready for the day. Between the growth of the Scions, the addition of the Domans, and the activity of the Crystal Braves, the amount of work she had to do from day to day tended to vary. So she wanted to get things in place as early as she could.
As she did such, she could hear Sana wander over to the kettle, which started to whistle just a few seconds after she reached it. It smelled lovely.
Tataru watched quietly as Sana filled a teacup and brought it over to her desk. "Sana?"
"Yes, Tataru?" Sana answered, a measure of respect in her tone.
Tataru pondered her question for a moment before speaking. She explained slowly her concerns and interest in Arcanima. She knew, or at least trusted, that Sana wouldn't judge. Her friend had mentioned at some point that she had taken up the blade for similar reasons.
"I think you should go for it," Sana noted just as Tataru finished. "I think you would do very well, Tataru."
Tataru couldn't help but grin at her words. Perhaps this goal really was worth pursuing.

Tataru Week Day 6 - Goals
Tumblr media
"Hey, Treasure..."
"Yes, love?"
"What do you think is next? It feels like we have everything."
"I will give you that we have it pretty good, but doesn't 'everything' feel like a stretch?"
"Well, we saved the star-"
"-decades ago, Johnny! That's old news at this point. You don't want people to get bored of you, do you?"
"No, haha. But our daughter's also gone and done it once or twice at this point, and with Benny out of school now I'm sure he'll get to take a crack at it too sooner or later."
"Yes, we're a very heroic family, with some very heroic children to boot. But that can't be everything, can it? Beruru would surely berate you for your lack of imagination!"
"Well, the boutique is doing great business on all three continents, Tuliyollal, and the First too. We don't have a monopoly or anything, but there aren't any more corners of the world I can go to introduce your designs."
"That is true! And we're richer than Lord Lolorito, and we did such a good job cleaning up Ul'dah that Nanamo told me I should have been been Sultana. All your siblings, nieces, and nephews can read and write, and no more children are working in mines."
"Right..."
"And let's not leave your achievements unaddressed! You helped figure out Shard travel, resolved the crisis in Meracydia, have brokered peace between enemies more times than I can count, and although I can count the number of times you've saved the star, it is only because it always occurred under very memorable circumstances."
"How many times is that?"
"Four and a half."
"A half?"
"That awful snake was you and Beruru, so half each."
"Haha, that's fair. But don't you see what I mean? I'm not sure where to go from here."
"Well, your knitting skills leave something to be desired. Perhaps you could try improving on those, and then by the time you've finished me a nice hat or sweater, I'll have come up with a new quest to give your life direction again."
"Treasure!"
"Ha! In seriousness though, there are still many things left on this star that are part of 'everything' that I want, and would greatly appreciate your help in acquiring. And when you think of some of your own things that you want (and I am certain you will), I, Tataru Taru, will help you in kind!"
"...Thank you, Tataru. Love you a whole lot."
"Any time at all, my hero. Keep on coming home to me."

Vierapril 2025: Secret
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A secret neither of them actually know. Tataru is one of Flidais's best friends, someone she bonded with during her time with the Scions. Unbeknownst to them there's a reason they bonded so fast and get along so well. Flidais being from the Ninth, she has a shard on the Source. Both shards of the seat of Azem, both remnants of the Ancient known as Jupiter. Had she had combat capabilties, Tataru would have been the Warrior of Light, the Chosen of Hydaelyn. Instead her skills and heroism was used elsewhere. (this also doubles as Tataru Week!)

Tataru Week - Day 5 - Flower Language / Letter
"Tataru?"
Tataru allowed herself a moment to finish the word she was writing before looking up to the person addressing her. And then smiled to herself when she reached Beatrix's eyes.
"Greetings, Beatrix." She responded, half watching as her friend rocked back and forth on the heels of her feet. Beatrix's ears were twitching as well. How curious. How cute. "Is there anything I can help you with?"
Beatrix nodded and grinned at her. "Yes, please. Do you have any spare ink? And spare paper? I kinda messed up writing something."
Tataru wasn't as surprised by this as she expected to be. Beatrix had mentioned that she had grown up with different writing implements before, and it was beginning to show. Tataru could still remember the last time Beatrix had accidentally knocked over an ink well.
"Here. Try to be more careful this time, yes?" She giggled as she took out the writing supplies and handed them to Beatrix.
"Thank you very much, Tataru."
"You're very welcome, Beatrix," Tataru replied absently as she watched Beatrix walk to one of the tables and wondered what she was working on.
This curiosity only lasted for around half an hour; it was at that point that Alisaie and Alphinaud came back to the base. She could hear them talking with Beatrix for a little bit before the three left. Tataru just hoped they weren't going anywhere too dangerous.
Tataru doubted she would have noticed that Beatrix had left her writing behind had she not glanced over to where she had been sitting while she dipped her pen in the inkwell.
She would never admit it, but she lasted less than a minute before walking over to the table and gently picking it up.
"Oh, good grief..." She muttered to herself as she read it again. It looked like Beatrix had a crush on someone and had found one of the more childish ways of expressing it.
On the paper were the words:
Do you like me? [ ] Yes [ ] No
Tataru read it again, wondering who exactly she intended to give it to. She had heard Beatrix mention someone named Mikoto before. And she had seen how Beatrix looked at Hilda.
She thought this over before adding something of her own to the page and going back to work.

Tataru Week - Day 4 - Business / Treasure
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tataru let out a small sigh. This was not how she had expected to spend her day off. In her friend Eirini's apartment, waiting quietly for her to get changed.
She had been approached some time earlier by Eirini for an interesting type of advice. It seemed Eirini was rather fond of Tataru's fashion sense and was hoping she would help her develop her own sense of style.
Tataru had assumed Eirini was exaggerating when she said she was typically utilitarian in how she chose her clothing. She wasn't. That didn't mean she looked bad, however. She just looked as though she was heading off to help rebuild the Firmament.
Tataru put her hands on her hips and looked Eirini over carefully. An idea was already forming in her head. "Right. Please take your hat off." She noted while nodding. "I want to try something with your hair."
Eirini looked at her for a few seconds, brow raised, before complying and removing it.
While she did this, Tataru went to her travel bag and gingerly pulled out an intricate red ribbon. Her original idea had been to gift it to Eirini for her nameday. It felt as though it would be a nicer surprise now. She could think of something else when the time came.
She stood up carefully and moved closer to Eirini. "I'm going to put my hands in your hair, okay?"
"Understood." Eirini responded, her tone appreciative.
Tataru gently took Eirini's hair in hand and worked it into something resembling her usual ponytail. Then she tied the ribbon in. It was a simple step but it looked lovely in it's new home. "Done. Now go check the mirror and tell me what you think."
Eirini left and was back within a minute, her eyes wide and a smile near splitting her face. "Thank you so much Tataru! It's wonderful." She was unusually lively in her speech. "I have an idea for an outfit. May I show you?"
"Of course," Tataru responded with a small smile.
"Thank you." Eirini replied happily before heading to her room. "I'll treat you to lunch for this later, I promise."
Tataru's smile widened at this. That sounded like a great plan.
