Also, please don't forget that even in his debut in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, there was this stance render of him looking slightly away as well. Just enough to pass for eye contact but not enough to make things uncomfortable for him.

(idk about how it works for any of our fellow acoustics, but when we make eye contact for longer than a split second, it makes our skin crawl and alarm bells to go off while our brain screams at us about how deeply uncomfortable it is to be doing that. Mans knows what's up. lol)

to add onto this: a lot of autistic people tend to take the "you need to make direct eye contact" extremely literally to the point they can make people uncomfortable and considering one of Dragunov's Tekken 8 win poses has him crouching down to look RIGHT at the viewer we'd argue that that is also due to his autism.

(ONE of these days we'll sit down to write that essay on why Dragunov is autistic. There's just so much to talk about even though he has such little canonical screen time it's kind of daunting. and a bit insane cuz lordy there's so much)

A Little Ramble About Our "Dragunov As Genderfluid" Headcanon

Something we've known for a little while is that we see Dragunov as genderfluid even if he, himself, might not realize it. For a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is because he grew up in Russia in/around the 90s and even now- as far as we are aware -things aren't exactly easy for amabs who are gender nonconforming.

That said, if he were to ever explore that side of his gender, we feel like Dragunov would most defiinitely do his best to try and look as "traditionally feminine" as possible. He most likely grew up surrounded by people who would affirm the stereotype that only women and girls likeand wear things like flowers and dresses and makeup. And sure, Dragunov wears what is clearly cheap lipstick, and sure, he obviously plucks his eyebrows, but both of those things are very goth-coded and as made obvious by his Tekken 8 outfit, Dragunov clearly likes his skull motifs which are also associated with the goth/alt subculture.

So, we'd like to posit that when Dragunov presents as female that he prefers more "modest" forms of clothing. Long skirts and dresses that go down- or close to -his ankles, soft colours like white, cream, and pale brown/tan and understated floral patterns. Especially chamomile since afaik that's Russia's official flower and Dragunov loves his home country A Lot, whether it loves him back or not...

Which it probably wouldn't if he were to ever do something like, say, fall in love with another man by the name of Victor Chevalier. If there was ever a world where Victor actually got off his ass and managed to convince Dragunov to leave Russia with/for him, then that same world would also possibly be one where Dragunov could expermient with gender expression. And, in this hypothetical scenario, we think Dragunov would at least start by wearing stuff one would typically associate with more "traditionally feminine and modest" since that would be his own expectation for how one "should" look/dress when they're a woman. Especially a cis woman.

Mary Elizabeth McGlynn is an amazing singer. Nina Williams is voiced by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, which implies that Nina could also probably sing really well. So does that mean Steve, by extension, could have inhereted those skills?

If so, how funny would it be if he used that as a party trick and wowed people with his skills at karaoke night? Nobody would believe it until he started belting out some currently popular song, and then he'd make money betting on his ability to make the others eat their words.
