Two Adults

Summary: You are Betty’s cousin and meet FP Jones at Jughead’s birthday party. It’s going well - until you have to prevent certain secrets to come out using drastic measures.

Part 2

“I can’t remember a time in which Jughead celebrated his birthday“, you told Betty clearly amused, whilst cleaning your table with a wet cloth. You were Betty’s cousin and as you two grew up together you naturally became friends with not only Archie but also Jughead. You weren’t close, mostly because of the age gap, but Betty always brought the four of you together. Since you had graduated high school two years ago you only saw them while working your shift at Pop’s and sometimes at Betty’s. Now that the group got a fourth member, Veronica, you at least made an effort in making time for them, because you saw her as a younger version of yourself.

“Because he never did, Y/N. But as his girlfriend it’s my responsibility to make sure he has a memorable birthday.“ Betty was an angel walking on earth and you knew that you could never turn her or any of her requests down. She stuck with you when you were a bratty teenager and she was part of the reason you were now working hard instead of spending your parents wealth.

“You know exactly that I’ll never say no to you, don’t you?“, you asked Betty and rolled your eyes. As the realization hit her that you would in fact go to Jughead’s party her face lit up, and she hugged you tight.

“You have way too much power over me, Bets“, you said and grinned. She nearly beamed and went back to planning two minutes later. You brought her a vanilla milkshake and your heart swelled with pride as you watched her making calls, working on a list and occasionally looking up to give you a sweet smile. She was the kindest person you knew and always worried about others. You two were polar opposites. That’s why you both worked so well as a team. She encouraged you to make compromises, while you always urged her to stand her ground and to be selfish sometimes.

Bringing your focus back to work you gazed around the nearly empty diner and suddenly felt the need to get out as fast as possible. It had been one hell of a stressful week. Your parents had been home the past couple of days, annoying you to no end. That’s why you started to work overtime so you could escape for a few hours, before you had to listen to them complaining about the way you lived your life. However, you clearly needed a break from cleaning tables and making milkshakes. An evening with your friends and without your parents suddenly appeared to be exactly what you needed and you started to actually look forward to Jug’s party, even though you still thought it was a bad idea.

You were definitely wrong. Not even half an hour into the party and nearly everyone that went to Jughead’s school was standing on Archie’s lawn. You thought about going home, but then remembered your parents and decided to stay. At least you could get drunk so you wouldn’t be forced to encounter them sober at the end of the night.

Right now you were sitting on the kitchen counter in that cute black dress you wore to every special occasion, a red plastic cup filled with beer in your hand and your head swinging lazily to the muffled music. It wasn’t exactly how you pictured the evening to go, but it was still better than sitting at home or working at Pop’s. You glanced inside your cup and saw it halfway empty. Shrugging, you drank the remaining beer in one sip.

“Thank god the keg is here“, you mumbled and got up from the counter to get yourself another cup. You heard a deep laughter coming from behind you. You had always been jumpy, causing you to spill your freshly filled cup all over your dress.

Looking down at your now wet dress you thanked the gods for it being black, but sighed anyway. “You nearly gave me a heart attack“ you stated and turned around slowly, now feeling uncomfortable with your dress clinging to your body. That’s when you first made eye contact with one of the most handsome men you had ever seen. He was tall with short dark hair and a muscular build. He had light brown eyes and a sly grin on his lips. Even though he seemed to be around the age of forty you couldn’t help but feel attracted towards him. You could practically hear Veronica in your head saying: “He serves some serious Don Draper vibes.“

“Wasn’t my intention“, he said letting out a low chuckle. “Just tried to get myself a beer.“

You mumbled “it’s fine“ before turning around, partly to fill your cup again and partly to escape his intense gaze. “I smell like a fucking brewery“, you whined and took a new cup from the table.

The laughter escaping him was the sexiest thing you had every heard. You stopped your actions to exhale and inhale deeply just so you could steady your breath. Even his voice made your knees go weak.

“You seem a bit too old for a high school party“, you stated turning around only to place a freshly filled cup in his hand. You clinked your cups together and drained the beer down your throats while remaining eye contact.

“I’m Jughead’s dad“, he clarified watching you intensely. Your eyes went wide and you decided to fill your cup again just so he couldn’t see your reaction. You worked extra slowly so you had time to think about what to say, choosing to not let your temper get the best of you. Jug never spoke to you about his family. You had no clue why he lived with Archie instead of his home and it wasn’t your place to ask questions or judge anyone involved. You weren’t determined to find out the truth anyway and chose to not think about him as the father of one of your friends.

“Well, that makes us two the only adults in this house.“ You turned around with a cheerful smile. You found him already staring at you, his gaze making you shudder.

“I’m Y/N, by the way“, you introduced yourself and reached out your hand for him to shake. He took it without hesitation.

“I’m FP.“ Not once in your life had you been nervous because of a boy. You had always been confident and maintained your cool. Not even the cheesiest compliments or overly romantic gestures had made you swoon. However, one simple handshake and you could feel your heart thumping in your chest harder than it ever did before.

“Not Mr Jones?“, you teased still not letting go of his hand.

“We’re two adults“, he repeated with that smug grin on his face he’d been wearing since the second you met. Not once did it falter. He knew he made you nervous. It was obvious. Your breath wasn’t even close to steady and you couldn’t stop the blush from creeping on your face, even though you tried to play it down.

Suddenly, Kevin came barging in through the door obviously looking for you. You let go of FP’s hand in an instant. “Y/N? Betty is in the need for some serious emotional support.“

You then remembered that you were in fact not a school girl with a silly crush, but a strong woman who not only wanted, but needed to protect her cousin. Instantly, you placed your cup on the kitchen counter. “What the hell is happening out there, Kevin?“, you asked grabbing his hand before he could flee the kitchen.

“Cheryl and Chuck“, he simply said pulling you with him.

“Of-fucking-course“, you responded and rolled your eyes.

“Duty’s calling“, you smiled at him apologetically and let yourself get dragged towards the drama. You missed the way FP’s lingering gaze rested on you before drowning his beer and following right after you.

Betty was tense. You could see it from afar. Her hands were cramped to fists and tears were starting to form in her eyes. You rushed to her and tried to calm her down, but she was too caught up in the situation to even recognize your presence.

“Hell, Betty doesn’t even know herself.“ You recognized the voice in an instant. Your head snaked to the side looking right into the dark eyes of Chuck Clayton.

“You got to be fucking kidding me“, you mumbled angrily. Betty still couldn’t turn away her gaze. Chuck always had his way of hypnotizing people.

“Everybody knows why I got suspended.“ You already felt the rage boiling inside you and he was just getting started.

Chuck looked around his audience and licked his lips in anticipation. “But what you don’t know, she dressed up as a hooker in a god-awful-black-wig, drugged me, handcuffed me in the Jacuzzi and, well, I almost drowned until she got me to say what she wanted to hear.“

That’s when you started to remember. Weeks ago, Veronica was seeking for advice. She told you the story, truly concerned for Betty, and asking you what to do. You, of course, had been shocked. Betty had never been like that, at least the side you knew of her. You suggested to wait for Betty to explain the situation herself and not to worry too much about it. As far as you knew, Veronica had followed your advice and never spoke to anyone about it. Now the truth was threading to come out, possibly destroying Betty’s image. Your mind was racing, trying to find a way to protect your cousin. Only seconds later, you came to the conclusion, that there was no way to stop Chuck without picking up a fight. It would probably end badly and you would look like an idiot in front of a bunch of kids and FP, but it was the necessary thing to do.

“I think you should better shut the fuck up. Or do you want this to end like the last time we met?“, you challenged him, knowing he would without a doubt use his chance to expose you. You stepped in front of Betty, shoving her behind you.

Finally, Chuck turned to you. You knew people like him and were able to read them easily. His face didn’t show any emotion, but you knew he was surprised at you confronting him, even though you had to hide something yourself. “Oh, our sweet Y/N, an even bigger psychopath than her little cousin.“

You grinned proudly and took a step towards him. “I’m not a psychopath for putting you in your place when you stepped out of the line.“ That definitely sounded like something a psychopath would say, but you had to play your role to stop this situation from going downhill.

“You wanna break your hand again, princess?“, he asked, chuckling lightly and shaking his head. You could actually hear Betty gasp behind you. A few weeks ago after Veronica had confessed to you, you decided to get further information and ask Chuck some questions. However, he decided to call Betty names, instead of simply repeating what happened. You warned him multiple times, but as he wouldn’t listen, you snapped and punched him right in the face, breaking your hand in the process. You had told Betty, that you clumsily fell in a weird way. She had believed you naturally.

“Maybe I want to. The black eye suited you, don’t you think?“ You raised your eyebrow, challenging him. Chuck cramped his hands to fists, looking at you with pure hatred. You needed him angry. He would forget about Betty, concentrating on you instead. Your plan was working perfectly fine, until Archie grabbed your arm, bringing you to his chest.

“He isn’t worth it, Y/N.“ Chuck was started to turn into his former self again. The visible hate in his face vanished and was replaced by a daring smirk. You knew you had lost your chance to end this as peacefully as possible right there. There was only one possibility left, the one you had sworn you’d never use again weeks ago.

“Yeah, get out of the damn way, Y/N. This isn’t about you.“ You harshly ripped your arm out of Archie’s grip, making him stumble backwards. Only moments later you closed the space between you, now only inches away from each other. You knew what was coming next, still hoping it would end differently this time

“You’re just a bratty whore“, he breathed while maintaining eye contact. There it was, the moment you knew it was all over, because you actually had to react. Your eyes fluttered close, only to be opened forcefully again as you took a step back and punched him right in the face.

The pain was overwhelming, but familiar. Your hand looked similar to a few weeks ago. It was flushed red and your knuckles were bleeding. It felt like a Déjà-vu. Only this time Chuck was out cold immediately and people were gushing around him.

You were rudely snapped out of your thoughts as Betty grabbed you by your shoulders, asking you what felt like hundreds of questions. You couldn’t answer and were watching FP instead, as he shoved the other kids out of the house. Becoming frustrated, as you didn’t reply, Betty led you into the kitchen, urging you to sit on the kitchen counter and helped you, as she realized you couldn’t do it alone.

Veronica entered the kitchen, a first aid kit in her hand. You both made eye contact, silently agreeing that your actions were justified, before she quickly fled the kitchen, seeing the look on Betty’s face.

You glanced at her. She was angry, of course. You had been reckless and she didn’t know the reasons behind your behavior. She only saw you getting hurt because of her.

“I’m sorry”, you spoke quietly, causing her to finally look at you. Her eyes were filled with anger, but mostly worry. She nodded, then turned her back on you, beginning to scan the inside of first aid kit in the need for a bandage.

You heard the front door slam and big steps coming towards the kitchen. You knew it was FP, before you saw him. He took one glance at Betty, who was clearly overwhelmed by the situation, and made his way towards you. He silently asked for permission and stepped between your legs as you nodded.

FP examined your hand and wrist carefully, not wanting to hurt you. His hands were rough, but his touch soft and goose bumps started to form where his fingers slid other your skin. Of course, he realized it, the smirk tugging at his lips gave him away.

“It’s not broken, just sprained”, he concluded, placing your hand back on your lap. Neither you nor Betty knew why exactly FP was able to separate a broken bone from a sprained one, but you were still relieved.

“I’m going to bandage it and it should be fine in about two weeks”, he told you, maintaining eye contact, and smirking as you blushed. You focused on his face as he wrapped the bandage gently around your hand, finding him even more attractive with all the small, minor details you found. The way his brows knit together and his lips were pressed to a thin line as he tried concentrating, made you forget that you weren’t alone with him.

“I’m going to clean up a bit”, Betty announced, ripping you out of your thoughts. She quickly left the kitchen leaving you with FP. The sly smirk reappeared on his face, as he worked silently. He was so close, that you could smell his cologne and you seriously wondered how long you were going to be able to hold yourself together. In twenty years, you’d never met someone that made your mind go blank like him and you couldn’t decide yet, if you should be happy or worried about it.

“You need a ride home?”, he offered as he finished bandaging your hand. He placed it on your lap, never breaking eye contact. You knew in this moment, that you should be cautious. It wasn’t a good idea to continue being alone with him, especially as you were a bit tipsy and needed to cut the alcohol immediately.

“I’m actually staying in the guest room tonight”, you lied, trying to get off the counter, failing miserably. FP reacted quickly, placing his hands on your hips, holding you steady and then carrying you off the counter.

For a moment, you were overwhelmed by his touch. Your breath hitched in your throat. The pain you still felt moments ago faded into the background as your whole body ached to be touched by him again. You wondered if FP felt it, too. The tension, the electricity, the goose bumps. You couldn’t possibly be the only one. But as you looked into his eyes, you didn’t see it. Maybe you just weren’t able to read him like other guys, or you simply misinterpreted the situation, because you had been drinking too much. You honestly didn’t know. You just shook your head slowly, smiling and thanking for his help, before walking past him into the guest room, without ever asking if you could sleep in it.

Hiccup’s age and more.

The viking games in the preview for the first How to train your dragon took place in year 1010. Hiccup would’ve been 14, not 15, because the only Leap year around that time was in 996, 14 years before 1010. As us Dragon fans know, according to Cressida Cowell, Author of the How to train your Dragon books that allowed the movie series to even happen, Hiccup Haddock the third was born on a Leap year, February 29th

Here’s where it gets crazy. If Hiccup was 14 in 1010 then in year 1066 he would be exactly 70 years old. Here’s the fun part. Year 1066 was when the viking age ended, meaning Hiccup’s children and probably grand children were there to witness Harold III in Victory causing the Viking era to end and the vikings to finish raiding. Perhaps this ‘peace’ made the dragons come back?

OH I’m not done yet. According to Hiccup in Race to the Edge (Where Hiccup would be eighteen meaning the year would be 1014) Berk has been around for 400 years.

So….Berk has been around for 400 years at the point of 1014. This would mean Berk has been around since 614.

No biggie right? Wrong!

The Viking era began when northerners began raiding Northumbria-Modern day England.

That was in year 793.

What does this mean? Berk has been around for 179 years longer than the beginning of the Viking age, meaning the founders of Berk were around in the Germanic Iron age.

Now the Viking age began with Vikings sailing to the islands around Modern Day England from their Norwegian roots. If the people of Berk were already inhabiting their island at this time, does that not mean the Vikings of Berk were not up to trend and though their culture is that of the Viking trade, the isle of Berk would have been founded BEFORE the Vikings age actually started? Their tribe are not voyagers nor are they raiders like the Vikings we hear of today.

So this begs the question “Other than their obvious take on Nordic and Greek religion, did the Vikings of Berk and others in the Barbaric Archipelago have the same traditions and Laws that the Vikings we hear of in history books today?”

Honestly speaking there is no way to answer this question. We also know that year 1100 would take place 104 years after Hiccup was born, meaning that though he and Astrid would be gone by this point, not only would their grandchildren be around but many dragons would likely be about too if they did begin showing themselves after the battle against Harold III.

In other words, Hiccup and Astrid lived only 2 to 3 generations before the year 1100, the High Middle ages, which for a visual were during the same time as the successful reign of King David IV of Georgia (1089–1125), This was also around the time European Christians separated their Religion into two parts-Roman Catholicism in Western Europe and Eastern Orthodoxy in the east-both near but not extremely close to New Berk which-according to the environment and Easter eggs in the hidden world showing a view of Stonehenge in the distance-is near England and Europe.

In order to know how I know England and Europe are near New Berk continue reading this next paragraph…

Considering the fact that Stonehenge was seen while Grimmle was on his search for the isle of New Berk and on the rout of it (Going West), and taking into account how much time it would take to move an entire army even with the use of Death grippers which can catch up to a Night Fury which can fly at approximately 100 MPH not including dives, I would say with Grimmle’s dragons able to fly a Mile in 36 seconds WITH riders (100 miles per hour means 100/60=1.67 miles per minute. So, you travel 1.67 miles in 1 minute, 1 miles in 1/1.67=0.6 minute’s, and 0.6 minutes= 0.6 * 60 seconds=36 seconds so, you will travel 1 miles in 36 seconds if you are going at 100 miles per hour) New Berk would be an hour’s flight at MOST from Stonehenge (Located in England) with or without baggage taking all the details into consideration.

Sorry for that little overdose of Algebra and Geography, but I’m going to finish where I started.

According to research, the Hidden world is actually pretty close to England, though it would take a few hours to sail there if the Dragons were still sadly unable to show themselves to the Public. For all we know Hiccup and Astrid’s next generation could’ve lived in England.
