I AM BAD AT TYPONG This blog has changed a lot in 7 years. What hasn’t? Read this essay to help understand my core belief about Taylor music and trying analyze it, https://www.theparisreview.org/blog/2015/09/11/the-most-misread-poem-in-america/ I used to tag #song analysis to what I think were my more interesting posts, but I don’t really do much analysis anymore. Sometimes I drink bourbon and shit post. I love getting anons but I don’t answer all of them. I am a gaylor. Sorry. Obsessed with Taylor swift’s career and art and brain and especially her PR. I have a fundamentally different interpretation of most of her recent discography from 99% of people, no matter which side of the fandom they are on, and I got tired of trying to explain my interpretations because it’s like knocking my head against a brick wall with people who are starting from an entirely different place and set of assumptions. It is not worth it. So now I focus on her career stuff. That may change and every once in a while I say a bit about song interpretation. I also realize that my interpretations may very well be wrong. But I have certain beliefs and this is my opinion. Take it or leave it. I’ve seen her live 6x. Side blog.

I was thinking about the switch out of Invisible String for The 1, and it reminded me how funny it was when folklore came out and it opens with The 1 and everyone lost their shit, and people though toe broke up, and then how the interpretation of Invisible String was this idea that they’re soulmates (with obvious call outs to yogurt boy) and everyone was kinda like “what’s the deal, did they recently break up and that why she added The 1 and Hoax last minute?” And people had to wait 2 weeks for them to pop up together and everyone went yay! and then they could enjoy the album even with all its break up songs. But then someone on this side made the connection of “isn’t it pretty to think” to Hemingway’s “it would be pretty to think so” as in wouldn’t it be nice if we could believe this fantasy narrative of me falling in love with this man that I had absolutely nothing in common with? That fate would just bring us together and we’d be happily ever after? Wouldn’t it be pretty to think so?
And she sang this song at the beginning of tour as a “romantic” interlude and everyone thought “oh sweet” and then she, arguably jokingly, switched it for The 1, basically circling back to folklore’s release and everyone worrying that they broke up, and then 2 weeks later, we found out they did. She really is so deliberate and hilarious with this stuff. I admire her so much.

You just reminded me that's the best line that came out of the ttpd era but it isn't in any of the songs! that's a crime!!
This is one reasonI love TTPD as an art project, not as music.

I’m kinda feeling like my pinned, as classic as it is, is feeling a little stale and it’s time for a refresh.

I am shocked…SHOCKED… that the same swifties who like this merch drop are also the same swifities who think cowboy like me is about literal cowboys.
ETA: do they imagine two cowboys (a girl and a boy of course) in full cowboy attire (hats, belt buckles, boots, wranglers, lasso, bed roll, leading a saddled horse) stumbling into a party on a high school tennis court in rural Wyoming or something? And there are ladies eating egg salad sandwiches out of brown paper bags?

Im so excited that Taylor got her masters back and I see people say it means shes coming out this summer!! I hope she comes out but Im a new fan sincw TTPD and I don’t know if I want to believe because people said shes coming out the last day of tour and nothing happened😩 You e been around for a long time right do people predict she’s coming out every year?? Are people wrong alot? Help I cant tell what to get my hopes up for
Yes, people predict she’s coming out all the time and have been as long as I’ve been around. The ones who don’t like to torture themselves give up after a few rounds, but I’m always amazed there are still some who keep at it for many years.

Wondering if this chances anything with your educated predictions?
Only that I have a whole new paradigm within which to come up with new ideas of what she might do. But as far as Tayvis goes, I don’t think it affects anything in the short term (next 6 months.)

Yes I think this has been a long time coming and everything she’s done is to make this possible. Also what’s that letterhead. Never seen it before
I’m guessing we’ll find out.

Agree. I remember thinking at the time this might mean she would see if she could buy them in a few years. I have to assume Shamrock realized the same thing, assuming she didn’t tell them her plan. So everyone was just biding their time.
I’m not sure I would use the term “fundraising” but I suppose what she’s done could be viewed that way.
One tidbit I remember from when Taylor posted about the original Shamrock deal 5 years ago, was that she refused to work with them because, to paraphrase, scooter would be profiting for years to come if she did. I noted that language because it hinted that there was an end date of a period of years to his involvement. Almost like he built in a sunset clause, which he is documented to do, that would last about 4-5 years. So if that was the case here, Taylor waited until scooter’s partial ownership (some sort of royalties rights or ownership or however the original shamrock deal was set up) expired, and then started negotiations with Shamrock.

Note
In the business world, it's called an earnout, not a sunset clause, and yes, earnouts typically last somewhere between 3 to 5 years
Thank you business anon.
