#Aries.#And what a question!#It’s so hard to choose. But the first thing to pop up in my head was “Been Through”.#It’s probably their best song objectively. It’s perfect. And it’s perfect for EXO.#Like you listen to the song and you’re like yeah no one else could sing it but EXO. It’s EXO encapsulated in a song.#It’s been a while since I listened to it though so gotta go do my research I guess.

WHIPLASH is that bitch. mind you this is what aespa released as a filler comeback after dropping armageddon and supernova the same year!
#Okay so I watched their MAMA performance and I’m so conflicted.#aespa killed it. Especially during “Whiplash”.#They’re the shit and they know that.#But…#The lipsyncing is insane.#It ruined everything.#No matter how good the song is and how great their stage presence was and how cool the stage looked and yadda yadda… it just doesn’t hit.#Not only did it feel non-engaging… it also felt really off. Like I couldn’t just let myself go and enjoy the show?#It feels so empty and hollow. Almost plasticy and unsettling even. It’s hard to describe with words really.#Mind you this is the first K-Pop award show performance I watched since probably 2017? So this is a mild culture shock to me.#And then there was a 2007 KARA “Mister” performance recommended next to it and boy oh boy. The juxtaposition???#It was just a regular music show performance with tacky decorations and a cheap-looking set.#But it was SO much fun to look at. The girls were singing! They were actually singing and it felt so satisfying after the aespa performance.#Sure they were a bit unstable at times because they were moving around a lot but STILL.#The performance was so much more engaging because they were singing completely live and it felt… real? Like they were actually there?#Ugh. It sounds stupid but it’s hard to describe.#Like there’s no constant cognitive dissonance of wtf am I listening to and why do they sound so strange throughout the whole performance.#Which made me relax and enjoy the performance so much more.#KARA also sound so great when they sing together. Thet were actually singing the chorus live and I was in shock quite frankly.#I don’t think even Soshi did that often? I’m not sure.#The funniest thing is… aespa is clearly vocally superior to KARA and they would eat is they sang live.#*if#I love KARA and I think they have amazing vocals. I always thought they were lucky to have all members with quite stable & pleasant voices.#But aespa is aespa.#And I’m sure they would prefer to sing live themselves but alas… Live singing is dead indeed.

#It’s been a while since I’ve watched aespa live stages. I think the last ones I’ve seen were “Savage” era stages. Damn…#But judging by the countless gifs I’ve seen and some snippets here and there it seems like they upgraded their stage presence so much.#It was pretty much the only thing that people could hold against them.#It was a pretty valid criticism too ‘cause I think Karina was the only member with good stage presence (though she was not phenomenal by any#means).#Now look at them!#They are unstoppable.#Nobody is doing it like them to be honest.#Vocals. ✔️ Music. ✔️ Musical identity. ✔️ Aesthetical identity. ✔️ Stage presence. ✔️ Dancing ability. ✔️ Uniqueness. ✔️ I could go on and o#n.#They improved so much.#Especially Giselle it seems like?#And their latest title tracks hello??? Untouchable.#Though I listened to their latest EP and I couldn’t finish it because I was kinda bored so there’s that.#There’s a lot I still have to listen to though. And maybe that EP is a grower I don’t know.
