Awakening: Pre-Chapter Seven
I’m going to start organizing these better.
Supports
I’m not sure if I like Sully and Virion’s support. They were the only support I got from the last chapter, but even that was earned after popping into the barracks.
I got more supports before completing the chapter though. I got Robin and Chrom up to their B supports. I have to wonder where Frederick was all this time if a thief managed to get close to Chrom. Either way, I feel like Chrom is a bit careless to be left alone - he has no self preservation instinct by the looks of it.
Robin and Panne got up to their C support (about time!).
Frederick and Sumia are up C now too. I think I might keep getting their support up because they seem to support each other (though this might also go badly for them).
Paralogue One
I took care of some Risen. Again, they were higher leveled than most of my units (except for like, Frederick, Robin, and Kellum). It’s probably a bad idea to keep bringing weaker units, but even they managed a level up here and there so I think it’s worth it.
Also went to do the paralogue for the first time. I probably should have done that sooner. It’s all the same as far as the game is concerned, but I like to imagine that Donnel’s been running for days and his mom’s back talks to the bandits whenever she can.
The battle isn’t... fun? Thieves stress me out, and I hate them. When I saw them moving, I just sent Frederick out to go rush them. I also had “fun” getting Donnel up to level two. All I have to say is thank goodness Sumia’s strength was low enough that she could do a lot of damage without killing anybody.

Awakening: Chapter Five
For once, I don’t have any new supports to read.
I’m not sure how I feel about the barracks. I like the concept but I don’t like waiting for people to casual stroll up to have a brief conversation either. The roster is fun to look at though! I also don’t know how to feel about Kellam apparently actually being okay about his inability to be noticed.
I also found my first Risen on the map and battled them first at the fort near Ferox (where that armoured lady needed to fight Chrom to prove it was him). My units were quite underleveled, so I had to pair Vaike and Kellam which made Kellam an absolute tank. I also had to retreat everybody else to the stairs and break out Frederick to be a pairup buddy. It was certainly a thing.
Of course, after this, I got Robin and Lissa’s C Support, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
And the opening cutscene is certainly something. Chrom apparently started a war and I just knew that Ricken could not be contained. I'm also not surprised that Chrom started a war.
And wow, did this chapter take me a while to get through (I reset, shoot me). It took the right pairups and killing the right people at the right time until I safely had Maribelle and Ricken in the back. Even when everything was going right, it still took a long time! There was a lot of people to kill.
Also, I now have some pretty unequal leveled units. Robin and Kellam just killed it together, as well as Chrom and Sully and then Lon'qu fought once (maybe twice).
You better be thankful, Maribelle, because Robin played a big part in your rescue.

Awakening: Chapter Four
I’ve found the shop last chapter but when I booted up the game today, I found a traveling merchant (one of many Annas?). I didn’t up buying anything (I think I might have spent a tad too much on healing staves) but I really like that concept that sometimes, you just run into people who sell things.
I read support conversations as I usually today. I got Chrom and Sully’s C support. I don’t have much to say except that I feel you, Sully. I’m not very domestic either. I got Robin’s and Kellam’s C Support (because Kellam needs all of the friends. I seriously don’t like that Kellam’s “quirk” is that nobody notices him. That’s just plain sad - I don’t know if that’s the idea or not but it’s not cool.
I like Chrom’s interaction with Flavia. He seems to like the word damn a little too much - I kind of hope he slips up and uses that word back home because he used it too much in Ferox. I remembering being a little surprised when TIbarn said damn once in FE10 and then here’s Chrom, having one lovely conversation with Flavia. I love it.
Although, I hate that you can’t bring along half of the current army. It’s only six!
I’m glad that my mistake of accidentally using the hammer didn’t get Vaike into too much trouble. He even hit both times. I’m impressed. I also like how “Marth” doesn’t bother going after you, so I got to sit around and heal everybody. Training healers - always so much fun.
I also feel like a tournament of this nature should be more... one on one? I kind of feel bad ganging up on “Marth” like this.
Lon’qu looks huge. I’m not sure if it’s a strange forced persepective thing or what, but his model just looks taller than the rest of them. “I stab people.” I shall remember this!
Chrom, let Ricken come. I feel like he’s going to come regardless (he seemed super serious, so I think he might sneak out) so you might as well just let him go. Though, I suppose Chrom doesn’t know how serious Ricken is.

Awakening: Chapter Three
I accidentally read a support during the last post but then I forgot about it. I think it was Robin and Frederick though. Miriel’s and Stahl’s was interesting (poor Stahl), though I’m not sure how I feel about Miriel’s character yet. On one hand, it’s kind of funny when she makes a point of how disappointed she is (I imagine if her portrait could better portray her face it would be even better) but she also talks kind like people thinks a scientific paper sounds like.
Frederick’s and Sully’s didn’t seem to be too special.
I can finally do proper battle-prep! I feel like a grown-up now!
I wonder why we have to battle though. How many people have the exalt mark? Isn’t that the entire point of Chrom keeping only one sleeve? Surely, you could tell if it was a birthmark or tattoo. Like, that should be the sure-fire way of proving that Chrom is indeed part of the royal family. I don’t know why he has to prove it on the battlefield. I’m sure Chrom and Frederick feel the same way though.
Armoured knights look ridiculous.
And poor Kellam! I want to protect this poor guy. I NOTICE YOU, KELLAM! I WILL FIND ALL OF THE SUPPORTS FOR YOU! This “nobody notices me” character trait is just.... so sad. D:
I guess the obvious plan is to split up your team and go up either sides of the castle. I did that originally to take care of all the ground-level dwellers but then decided to just hug everybody to one side (except for Sumia, who I made go after one of those shiny tiles since she the movement). I think I also finally understand when to pair up. Robin and Kellam together made it so while Robin couldn’t hit hard, the boss could only one damage point. Vaike and Virion together made it so Vaike could actually hit the boss with the hammer (from like, around 50% chance up to 65%).
I finally found a shop! I can spam heal now!

Awakening: Chapter Two
I started off with supports before charging into battle.
First, we have Male!Robin and Chrom. I think I’m on Robin’s side for now - I can understand Chrom wants to help soon but poor Frederick. Just... poor Frederick. It can’t be easy being Chrom’s bodyguard. Second, we have Chrom and Lissa and I don’t have much to say about this one.
I feel the game is kind of pushing for Sumia and Chrom to get together, with how big of a point it made about Sumia being worried about Chrom. Sumia is pretty much the default wife (the first option if Chrom doesn’t have S Support, right?) so this is something I notice because I already know. Maybe Sumia just hasn’t grow on me yet (I only know her to nice but clumsy), so we’ll see... maybe?
Poor Kellam.
And wow, Vaike actually doesn’t have a weapon. I like this little tidbit. However, I made a mistake and ended Miriel’s turn early before I could give Vaike’s axe back, so I wasted both of their turns. I actually ended up pressing the buttons a little too early before (making people attack when I just wanted to see how they would fair for example).
Everybody survived though! If I had any confidence that a shop was coming up, I would have had Lissa sit there and heal everybody (at least half of the units got attacked) but her staff is running a little low, so they had to heal at the forts. Also, the boss had a scary crit rate. I did not appreciate a 6 - 7% of a critical. I had to be more careful since Chrom got critical’d two chapters ago. Anyway, between Frederick and Miriel, it was all taking care of.
And does Sumia really get her pegasus from the wild? Did she not plan on being a pegasus rider until she saw the injured one? I feel like she could have been given one, being a Shepherd and all...

Second Generation Note
I may add this to the disclaimer, but as far as the children go, I’m not going to chose the fathers based on “who is best” in terms of stats, I’m going based on if I like the parent supports.

Awakening: Chapter One
It’s almost amazing how fast the plot turned. The prologue was the future, so of course things went badly there, so the only sort of “nice” chapter we got was Chapter One. I think I’m used to Path of Radiance, where the first three chapters are just clearing out bandits, but I don’t think the others even went so drastic near the beginning (the Begnion soldiers always being the issue in Part One of Radiant Dawn and Eirika being chased out of her country come to mind).
I guess all I’m saying is that I didn’t expect the dead and to see freaking lava on the map because the earth broke apart.
In other news, I’m glad that the conversations that really could wait until after the battle is over trope is back. Gotta love those casual battlefield conversations.
In other news, I still can’t figure out when pairing up is a good idea. Like, you temporarily lose a unit doing that, so I just don’t know when it is more appropriate to do so. I’m assuming maybe when I have more units, then it doesn’t “hurt” as much to lose one to a support role? It’s the first time I’m dealing with it, so I don’t have a feel for it yet.
“You said you were shepards!” made me laugh maybe harder it should have.
Somebody named Phila spoke but I couldn’t see her model. Maybe she’s just a tad off screen behind Emmeryn, but I like to imagine she was shouting from across the room. Also, Emmeryn seems too nice. I know she doesn’t ever turn evil or anything, it’s just that it it kinda bores me when people are nice and that’s it?
I’ve also unlocked support conversations! I prefer the kind that you unlock just by having characters do things beside each other because it’s nice to unlock them early. I think I’ve heard that you kind of get unlimited conversations, in that you aren’t limited to five conversations like in POR, and then each character is limited to just one S support, so I’m looking forward to making everybody be friends. They won’t have a choice.

Awakening: The Beginning and Prologue
The Opening Fight
I don’t think I can add much to it. I’ve seen the cutscenes before, and apparently Validar doesn’t move or attack, so it’s all good!
Prologue
The voices are kind of annoying - not the voices themselves are annoying but it’s just weird to have full sentences and the characters only say “Hmm....” or “I’m not delicate”. It’s just weird to be in between like that. I’m turned them off so I can just enjoy the music.
I’ve also played so much Heroes that I forgot magic was 1 - 2 range, not just 2.I had a moment of “I can just go right up to him and use magic?”.
It’s killing me that Robin cheers (like both arms in the air) when he gets healed. I also like the characters who are just in the background of fights (not necessarily paired up but just close by) and they just seem so lost. It’s like being in a dance class and not knowing any of the dance moves, you’re just copying everybody else but you’re a move behind.
Chrom already got critical’d. He survived but ouch. Sorry Chrom! This dorkasaurus of a lord didn’t deserve any of that.
I like everybody ragging on Frederick too. It reminds of Soren talking about Volke in Chapter 10 of POR. I don’t think I’ll get tired of that kind of conversation.
I’ve also realized that Fire Emblem is just “there is no reason for me to trust you and yet, I will because I need more than five people on my side”.
