teddy wasn’t usually stupid but he was exclusively stupid when it came to his job. sadly that meant andi had to deal with it a lot of the times. when it came to moments when it was his life versus someone else’s, he’d always jump. he thought he’d be doing the world a favour if he went down fighting. he wasn’t disappointed to be okay but the guilt weighed on him as he was now unable to help more people by working and was taking up space in here. ‘hey, come on now. you’d bring me flowers if i was dead, it seems silly to not bring me flowers for living. please don’t hit me, andi.’ he smiled sheepishly, sitting up just enough to look at her. ‘give me the lay down, tell me what’s happened.’
Andi took a seat in the chair next to the bed, leaning forward, elbows resting on knees. “Maybe next time. I won’t hit you, because as I said, you’re a mess.” She sighed, grinning a bit. Exhaustion was starting to settle in. “We’re not sure who attacked us yet. The minister and some security officials are missing, which–Jesus Christ, of course the are, because that’s exactly who we have to have missing right now. We are looking for them, but the masses are confused and scared and we’re trying to take care of that too. Many are injured, but St. Mungos is well equipped. And, thankfully, there were no deaths. Florence is also hurt, but she’s not up yet, so I haven’t spoken to her. I have a feeling she also threw caution to the wind.”

Andrea was tired. The action had been fine, it was the conversation with families, healers, and patients, especially her fellow aurors, that had left her drained. She thought she definitely pushed herself a bit too far. But she had to, there were people who needed protecting. Andi knew no greater relief than walking through the front door of her tiny flat. She was more than glad to hear she wasn't alone. "Lucien? I'm home." Her voice was tired as she called out, dropping her bag beside the door.
@tcthestarswhclisten : ANDREA WRIGHT
he was gone for most of the day and yet, he still came home to an empty house. and the fear he’s pushed down for the latter half of the afternoon was starting to come crawling back again. lucien had no means to contact andi, not now at least, not when he knew she was busy. and that alone caused the fear in his heart to worsen. he twirled his wand as he paced the length of their hallway, the one that lead out the front door, hoping to hear the door open or even the cracking sound of her apparating just outside. he’s wrapped up with worry that he doesn’t even realize the knob turning, not until a voice calls out.

she was going to protest, she really was. lily didn’t want to eat, didn’t have time for it, didn’t have the energy— and thus, didn’t have the energy to protest it either. maybe andrea was right ( lily was yet to catch her being wrong ), maybe she did need to step away for a bit. “a-are you sure ??” lily spoke, slightly panicked at the idea of abandoning her shift. “i can keep going if i need to, i promise i can.”
“I’m sure, kiddo. And I know you could keep going.” Of course she could. Andi was willing to bet that she’d push everything down and hurt herself in the process just to make it through. The question of whether or not she should keep going was another question, but Andi wasn’t about to pose that question to Lily. ‘But we can afford to step away for a while. I wouldn’t be encouraging you to if we couldn’t. Should we go to the tearoom?”

“ sort of lucky? ’’ she repeats, the words taste BITTER on her tongue, they sound so very WRONG. ‘‘ loosing even one person makes us UNLUCKY, Andi. we need to do better. ’’ it probably comes out with a NASTY EDGE, Flora knows they’re all doing the best they can, that most of them are doing this job for the right reasons, that if they could, they would ALL save EVERYONE. she knows that, but she’s always thought with her heart rather than her head. ‘‘ I want a list, you’re gonna get me a list. you’re gonna get me a list of people lost at that festival, contact whoever it is above you who can get it, i want it by the end of the day. and whoever’s handling the fucking family, just make sure they have a shred of empathy, will you? ’’ you seem to be getting a little too big for your boots, Florence, Andi is your SUPERIOR, after all.
Andi sat back, her eyes trained on Flora through her rant. She let it hang in the air afterwords, staying silent for several beats too long. She understood the girl’s anger more than anything, those words being many she herself had spewed to far too many people in her early days. “There is a lot you don’t know, Florence.” Her voice was level, not meant to push her into her anger any further, but firm and asserting. “Your frustration will serve you someday if you can keep it, but you gotta be smart about it. For starters, you don’t speak to me like that. You don’t lecture me about the tragedy of losing even one person, and you definitely don’t tell me what I will do for you. I have my own orders. As will you, when you’re finished dealing with the consequences of your recklessness. You’re going to get your own shit figured out here and then, given you are not tasked with something else as you most likely will be, you can take social work up yourself.” Andi leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees. “Do you get it? Stick to your guns, kid, you’re gonna need it. This world is harsh and it’s only getting worse. But pick your battles. Someday, if you learn that, and grow up a bit, you might be able to call a shot like that. But not yet.”
Andi leaned back again, running a hand through her hair. “There were no fatalities, Florence. Only injuries. That’s why we’re lucky. We’re all alive. People are missing, yes. Valuable people. But we’ll find them and we’ll find who did this.”

fulminations:
he recalls everything about her, and it’s something he won’t admit to, not easily and definitely not when he’s entirely sober. but he does. primo recalls all the things about dominique, all the little things he’s collected over the years he’s known her - and ultimately, lost her. primo smiles, ache and nostalgia in the simple twitch of muscles. ‘it’s good to see you too, dominique.’ an understatement, something so minuscule that barely brushes over the whole truth. he has more to say, more to ask, but this will have to do. primo doubts he deserves more than that. ‘how have you been?’
Dom felt so much relief in his small smile and in his words. She knew that, on some level, she had blamed herself some for their loss of contact. She thought, at some point, that her letter returning the sentiment of his own might have been a bit strong. But seeing his at least face value friendliness, the fact that he didn’t run, meant to her that there might be less animosity than what could have been. “I’ve been good. I’m writing a lot and I guess,” she looked back at the painting they were previously admiring, “looking at art. What about you, Primo? What are you doing in England?” She looked to him again, smile widening. She wanted to hug him, to let her excitement show a bit more, but there was too much she didn’t know still. She didn’t quite feel like she could.
#c: Dom and Primo#i wrote this while virtually attending a meeting so if it doesn't make sense im sorry but i know u love me anyway

“it’s clearly not even in their vocabulary,” she sneers as a grown-man walks towards her, a problem that she stopped by a simple hand gesture and a mean look. rose could be quite intimidating when she wanted to be. “i’m fine,” she insists, although it’s a default response. she’s far from fine, her thoughts wandering everywhere from her hurt relatives and to her mother whose current status or location was unknown to them all. “it’s not me you should be worried about.”
“Rose, I don’t want you to push your own pain aside right now. I am worried about everyone else, but I am also worried about you. Let me be. You matter just as much.” Dominique would always worry about all of her cousins, Rose included. Rose was unbelievably strong, but that didn’t mean she was unbreakable, and Dom wanted to be there for her when she could.

“What a shit storm,’’ she mumbles, picking at the skin around her nailbeds subconsciously to ease her growing anxiety. ‘‘were there any deaths? did we lose any … any children? ’’ Flora could be a BITCH at times, but she was good with children, she loved children. Wherever they were, no matter the scene, she was always the first to locate the children, to sit with them, to comfort them, and she was sure that in another life she would have been a pediatrics nurse. ‘‘ and the minister? any leads on her location? has someone checked on her family? and I mean really checked on them, not in that ‘we’re doing all we can’ robotic shit. ’’
“I haven’t heard of any children dying, no. Ultimately... we were sort of lucky. Lucky, or good at what we do. There have been attacks of similar scale elsewhere that have resulted in more fatalities than we had here.” Andi admired her intense care for people, particularly children. She hated to admit it, but Andi has become a bit... desensitized to death. When she started, the death of children nearly ate her alive. It wasn’t common in her line of work to see such a thing, but there were dark people in dark places and she wasn’t unfamiliar, now, with seeing such a thing. So she understood Flora’s distress, but she felt too far removed from all of it to feel it herself sometimes. “I haven’t heard anything, no. As for her family, yes. I don’t know much of the outcome. Realistically there is more checking on them to be done.”

‘‘ fine,’’ she says, annoyance lacing her tone as she lowers herself onto the bed, arms crossed. The attitude, however, quickly fades as she attempts to process the information. it feels like a lot, it feels HEAVY, it feels dangerous, a million questions immediately spring to mind, but she can’t quite figure out where to start. ‘‘ fucking hell, ’’ is all Florence can manage at first, head lowering into her lap for a moment, a sigh escaping her lips before she sits up straight again ‘‘ what - do we know who orchestrated the attacks? ’’
“Thank you.” She said, trying to be genuine in the face of her reluctance. Andi settled back into her chair, crossing one leg over the other. “Not yet, unfortunately. We haven’t heard anything new here, at least. Others are working on it.” Andi sighed, closing her eyes for a moment. “We didn’t see the attackers. It was practically a fucking ghost massacre. All we know is that it was most likely an act in opposition to the ministry, considering our ministry workers were the primary targets... You wish it could be easier, you know? Some dumb, reckless dark wizards wishing to make a scene with no regard for their own safety. But that isn’t fucking realistic. Some people are good at getting away. Initially.”

the hand on her shoulder made her jump. she’d felt numb, lost in thought and in her own world, and a touch had bluntly ripped her from it. lily looked up at andi, only managing a slight smile and nod as a means of conveying she was okay, though her actions spoke volumes for the contrary. “no,” lily said after a second’s thought, “haven’t eaten in a while– it’s not an issue though. i-i’m not hungry or anything.” having had to consider her own wellbeing had made her body flood with anxiety. she didn’t want to think about it, or about anything, really.
“You need to eat then, Lily. Come on. You’re probably in shock which could be causing your loss of appetite. I’ll buy you something, okay?” Andrea remembered the first time she encountered a scene like this. It wasn’t the same, didn’t hit nearly as close to home as this probably does for Lily, but the amount of tragedy and fear was certainly comparable. Even she, who had grown up in the path of danger, had felt petrified for days following the accident. “I think we’re safe to step away for a few moments.”

Eyes roll to the heavens at Andi’s words and a scoff escapes her lips. ‘‘ do not patronize me, please. ’’ Flora often needs to remind herself of her place, she’s only been doing this for a few years, and most of that time has been spent training rather than actually working. Andi is practically a veteran compared to her. ‘‘ I feel fine, I need to get out there, i need to see what happened, see the damage, FUCKING HELL ANDI - what even happened? my brains fucking fried, the last thing I remember is seeing fire - ’’
Okay, that was fair. She couldn’t imagine that tone was very kind. But her goal wasn’t kindness here, it was to get Flora to cooperate. “Sit back down and I’ll tell you what happened, but you’re not going to see it yourself. Not yet. And you know it.” Andi knew what she was going through. It felt so unfair to have to sit and heal when there was work to be done. “There was an attack, the wizarding world is exposed, and Hermione is missing. Yes, all hell broke loose, but we’re working to get it under control. What you can do right now to help out is to not make yourself worse.”

“i heard an unfortunate number of people got hurt” she sighed and shook her head. “i’m glad you’re okay, there’s too many people been hurt” she couldn’t understand why people decided to take part in the horrific actions that were carried out “i don’t think i’d call them incredible services but yes i’m brewing any additional potions that st mungos need”
“Yeah... too many. I’ve stuck around with a couple others to make sure nothing happens here. St. Mungos is a safe place, but we’re here just in case. There are others investigating further.” Andi took a sip of her coffee. It was almost tolerable on the third cup. “I wouldn’t come to you if they weren’t incredible, love. You’re quite good at what you do.’

When Lily volunteered to keep watch of the hospital, Andi knew she wanted to stick around. Sure, it probably looked like she thought Lily and whoever else was on the shift could do it alone, but truthfully, she wanted to keep an eye on her. She was willing to bet this was tearing her apart, and as she snuck glances in her direction, she could tell that was the case. Andi approached her, resting her hand gently on the girl’s shoulder. “Hey, kiddo. Let's go sit somewhere. Have you eaten?”
she’d been wandering the halls of st. mungo’s since the incident. lily luckily hadn’t gotten hurt too badly herself, just some grazes and bruises, really. the girl couldn’t bring herself to go home, though – her family was here, her family had gotten hurt. and she was heartbroken. she wasn’t allowed to go home either, she’d numbly volunteered for a shift to keep an eye on the hospital ( she was secretly thankful for the excuse to stay ). aurors had gotten hurt, so it had been all hands on deck to keep the peace and keep people safe. at least lily could say she felt somewhat useful. she didn’t look like she’d be of any use to anyone, though, her cheeks stained with tears as she shakily stumbled up and down the hallways.

“A few of us are out of commission, the aurors I mean, but I’m doing alright.” Andi was on her third coffee today, and she didn’t think she’d be stopping anytime soon. She was lucky to have only gotten a few incredibly minor injuries herself, so she was in a good place to focus on everyone else. “Donating your incredible services, Axelle?”
thankfully being a potions professor came into good use during this situation. she’d been helping out the hospital staff by brewing additional potions that would be required during the aftermath of helping out any injured people that have been admitted to st mungos.
axelle took a break while her next batch of potions were brewing and was grabbing some coffee to help keep her alert.
“hey, how are you holding up?”

jamieandminnie:
They were both hurting – their entire FAMILY was hurting – and James was so fucking furious at the world for causing pain among them again. The hurting was supposed to be in the past but now his loved ones were here and things were the opposite of okay. How could he sit here trying to look happy when he was anything but? So he was glad when Dominique didn’t try to crack jokes or talk shit because they both knew that wasn’t going to help anyone. He nodded and then reached out but instead he ended up pulling her into a hug, knowing they both needed the comfort. “I know everyone will be physically okay but I’m tired of everyone trying to cheer me up. It just… feels like there’s nothing to be happy about, you know?”
Dom didn’t know just how much she needed it until he pulled her into the embrace. She let herself fall into it, releasing any sort of guard she was holding up. “I know Jamie, I know. I’m fucking... tired. And terrified.” She knew he was right, everyone would be okay. But what truly terrified her was the implications that came from an attack such as this. How long until it was no longer true that everyone would be okay? She pushed down thoughts of Aunt Hermione, knowing that if she thought about it for too long, she’d crack. “There are some people who I feel like I need to be strong for and that’s just... even harder.”

macheriekarine:
If the girl was quick to say that she wasn’t easy to find, there had to be something there to break a wall down- on her end, anyway. Honesty like that was something Karine appreciated, as she never understood the point of a lie outside of achieving a goal, but who’s to say this one wasn’t trying exactly that? “Then you’ve done a good job. Most would likely remind you that anything can be uncovered eventually, but I’m sure you’ve taken the precautions to make sure the majority of the world can’t. A certain skill set necessary, perhaps.” Another thing she could respect, and had already been working on cracking.
Smart? Karine was fucking brilliant, though she wouldn’t take offense at the former word. She was nowhere near perfect and the humble, neutral end of her personality ensured that much. “Thank you. Those books will continue to define me to my grave, they better be good.” They’d have to be, to be at the level she was. To continue her work, guarantee her in’s in the world for the rest of her life. But if the auror before her read her books, it meant she knew what Karine’s array of skills and knowledge was- there was no bullshitting to be had on that end. Another potential set of tactics, down. “If you’d like to learn from me, I’d appreciate knowing what area that’s in. We can polish your skills, you can learn new forms of DADA, or you can offer some ideas of your own. Defence is a wide array and as we discussed, you’re well versed in it.”
She wouldn’t mention the other subjects she could teach, not unless this girl showed her hand or admitted to wanting to learn it all… And even then, Karine would have to be careful.
“Oh, surely. I’m well aware that all information is available one way or another, eventually. But I don’t know...” Andi shrugged, casting her gaze away thoughtfully, lowering her volume. “It just isn’t who I am to want everyone to know. I don’t like a lot of attention. It’s less stressful to live without it.” She looked back at Karine, trying a small smile. “I’ve been that way since school, even, so it’s not really anything to do with the job I don’t think.” That was mostly true, even if she was only sharing it to come off as a bit more open than she felt comfortable being.
“Is your goal for the books to be the only things that define you in such a way?” It sounded as such, but Andi doubted her ambitions ceased there. She didn’t know why she had asked such a personal question, but the potential answer interested her. She was suspicious of her intentions with the knowledge she clearly has, sure, but in those suspicions also lied a genuine curiosity about the woman. Andi was undoubtedly intrigued. “Certainly defense. Although I did read your other literature as well, Karine. I believe in order to have a good understanding of defense, you have to have a great understanding of what you’re defending from. Although in terms of what I’m looking for, I’m interested to see if you know other forms of defense that I haven’t come to find yet. If that turns out not to be the case, then so be it. I spent quite a long time searching for new information on defense, and I’ve exhausted a fair amount of resources.”

“I suppose some people know very little about human decency.” She let out a struggled sigh, lowering herself beside her younger cousin. Dom was glad to not have to deal with the attention some of them did. Whether it be from fans or journalists, some of them didn’t get much a break from peering eyes. Not even in a crisis. She was just glad she hadn’t been contacted to write about this yet. She knew it would happen eventually, and she was dreading the call. “How are you holding up, Rosie? Do you need anything?”
rose is calm during crises. it’s always been how she is, chaos seeming to clear her mind and allow it to see things clearer. she’s people’s rock. however, her mother is missing, and who she is to others is who her mother often was to her. she’s sitting in the waiting room at st. mungo’s fingers twisted into knots – the only indication that she’s feeling nervous and more than a little bit unsettled – as she waits to be informed of her injured family’s whereabouts. despite the dire situation, there are still people gawking, clearly arguing over who will ask the holyhead harpies star chaser for an autograph. rose turns to the person next to her, “do you think they realize how inappropriate it would be to exploit this situation for a useless fucking autograph.”
