Who are we?

TEA CROWNS STORY by Blanca and Viktor

Tea Crowns story began as a result of finding a passion and chance circumstances that we had over a span of four years in Taiwan.

After we met in 2015, I (Viktor) did an internship at a company where my mentor on one occasion gave me a pack of tea. Until then, we didn’t know much about Taiwanese teas neither had any interest in it. Still, the tea was so good that drinking tea became our daily routine. The passion for tea was born and ever since we have been diving deeper into the world of tea.

The first Couchsurfer we hosted in our home in 2016 was an awesome lady from Spain, Rosa. Impressed by the popularity of tea drinks in Taiwan, she thought that selling tea drinks would be a great business in Spain, too. Her simple thought was a spark that made us put together our passion for tea and enterprising to create Tea Crowns.

OUR TEA

The teas we source are grown on the mountains of Taiwan, at high altitudes of 1000 – 2000 meters above sea level. The island’s unique climate, rainfall, sun and mild frost-free temperatures allow the plants to mature slowly and ensure the most flavor in each leaf.

The organic teas in our selection are hand-picked and grown using organic and sustainable methods and are traceable to the farm where their practices are documented for no pesticides, sustainability, natural fertilizers and compost.

We spend tremendous amount of time and energy in the filed discovering and delivering the pure loose-leaf teas that are distinctive in their quality, fragrance and character.

SOURCES

We meet all of our farmers in person and form direct relationships with them. On our regular visits to tea farms we can see how they grow their crops, process the leaves and prepare the brew. It is fascinating how much attention and passion they put into making tea. They have spent years perfecting, using skills and methods that have been passed down through generations of their families, never compromising on commitment to fine quality tea. Our goal is to bring you the best combination of man and nature in each leaf. Only by staying directly connected to the growers we are able to do so in its purest form.
