So true! I've spent at least $700 on a 10 gallon tank and I haven't even gotten any coral yet! Thankfully, I work at my lfs and can get a pretty great discount! One of my coworkers bought a $40 colony for $9 the other day.
OK you have a thousand dollars right Do you either A) Get a cockatiel Or B) Start a reef tank

Important psa:
If your fish is sick and you want to ask your lfs for help, bring in a water sample and photos/video of the sick fish. NEVER bag the fish up and bring it in to us. Whatever is wrong will only be exacerbated by the stress of confinement, motion and temperature fluctuations.

Saltwater Reef Fish Feeding PSA
I see some people in fishblr getting interested in SW so I thought this could be a helpful mention.
I often see it recommended in fishblr to only feed a little each day, but for reef fish with fast metabolisms it’s a bit different.
This post is for wrasses, anthias, angels, tangs, butterflies, damsels/clowns.
Very commonly in this hobby you see people who feed sparsely so that their water is clean enough for advanced corals. If you are starving your fish to keep corals healthy, then you are doing it wrong and you should just keep coral if you care so little about the fish.
Rough guidelines:
Most reef fish should be fed 1-3x a day. (Wrasses, tangs, angels, damsels/clowns)
Some species should be fed 3-5x a day. (Butterflies, angels, tangs, wrasses)
Others should be fed 5-15x a day. (Anthias, depends on species.)
Feeding a little and spread out over more feedings over the day is really quite good for them as these are active foragers/grazers. This is just how they eat and how their bodies work.
Pics for examples below cut.

I spent my summer giving snails antidepressants and flipping them over, but people mainly asked me "Are snails depressed?"

For years, I have wondered what a fish swimming in microgravity would look like. Finally, my curiosity has been rewarded. Here is a sphere of water in microgravity, complete with a fish. Personally, I am impressed that, despite the fish’s best efforts, the surface tension of the water is strong enough to keep it confined. This may not bode well for microgravity swimming pools at space hotels. (Video credit: IRPI LLC, source)

Pet Store Blues Ep. 4???
I was helping out a coworker of mine with a sale since the store was dead and…
Customer: Could I grab some live rock? Pal: Sure.
Generally if a customer even knows what live rock is, it’s pretty obvious they have a saltwater tank and are fairly well informed.
Customer: And just a few soft corals, like this Xenia here.
For sure, if a customer is spouting out specific names of corals, they know what they’re doing.
He finishes bagging everything up and running everything through the register.
Customer: Thanks guys, my goldfish are gonna love this.
Guess who was on de-bagging duty :’(

When you dream that your fish got brooklynella (clownfish disease) and fin rot but they are beautiful and intact. Looks like I'm a over-worrying helicopter fish mom. Quincy seems so done with me.
