For our final, we, Team Enceladus, created an Arduino circuit in which 3 knobs on the breadboard are turned and control the direction, X,Y, and Z, of the bird mesh in Unreal. Then, a flying animation was imported from Maya as an FBX, and connected through a blueprint in Unreal. Max 7 was used to read the Arduino code and transfer it into Unreal. Credit to Jeremy for modeling the bird.

Today, we started out with code from Arduino that transferred to objects in Max 7, and then transferred to a blueprint created by Matt Rader into Unreal that allows it to be moved in X, Y, and Z. X with an Arduino knob, Y with an Arduino potentiometer, and Z with a microphone.

This is the Keyboard for Arduino. It imitates a keyboard synthesizer that creates a tone each time a push button is pressed on the breadboard.

This is the Hourglass for Arduino. You must wait 10 seconds for each LED to turn on. Any slight touch on the Arduino resets it.

This is the Thermometer for Arduino. Placing a finger close to the TMP36 temperature sensor turns on the LEDs to calculate the temperature of the finger.

Purchased the Arduino starter kit for next class. Too bad Professor Rader was absent last class and thus class was cancelled. Get well soon.

On 10/5, Team Enceladus captured ourselves in front of a greenscreen with a Kinect using infrared. Yariv pretended to be Voldemort flicking his wand and doing Avada Kedavra. Jeremy and Raphael pretended to Kamehameha each other.

Here’s a comparison of the dock made in Maya 2017 and the imported FBX textured dock in Unreal. The dock in Unreal is stretched out to fit with the forest paths.

Essentially, we made some changes to the final look of the Unreal forest level we had in mind. Instead of a bridge, we made a dock that connects to either side of the forest. The forest is surrounded by cliffs and rock formations. There’s also a hidden surprise on the left side of the forest.

Here are some sketches for our first project in Unreal. Our idea is a forest path with a river flowing underneath a bridge. Initially, it was going to be a straight path with no bridge at first, but then we decided on a curved path with a bridge.

First Day in Rader’s  Class
We did a project where we had to find a futuristic antique. Ours was the Eon of Destiny, a tool that allows the user to see the future before it happens. It’s so powerful it needed to be kept hidden from human eyes, but we made an exception for Matt Rader.
