Rhaenyra woke up the next day wearing completely new clothes, feeling oddly refreshed with the exception of her awful headache. She looks around to try and get some grasp on her surroundings. To the left of her is a nightstand with about a thousand pens and a stack of well-loved books. Her eyes widen. She's somehow found herself in Daemon's room. As if on queue, he then walks in. Speak, or rather, think of the devil and he doth appear. Daemon was wearing a simple grey t-shirt and sweatpants, his hair was wet and his fingers were bare, missing the usual ruby rings he'd wear. He always smelled like the rain mixed with a warm, firey scent. He sat on the edge of his bed and poked Rhaenyra's shoulder gently before realizing her eyes were wide open. "Oh, you're awake." He tilts his head, analyzing her confused expression. "Finally. And here I was thinking I'd have to call your mother to come get you or something. Eugh." Rhaenyra would've chuckled or at the very least cracked a smile if it wasn't for the current situation. Daemon and Aemma were never fond of each other, but Aemma had to stomach his presence most days because of his strong bond with her children. Daemon viewed his brother's wife as the uppity, nagging woman he just knew she was. It seemed as though Daemon couldn't do anything around the woman without her judging him or implying that he'd be a bad influence on the younger ones.
"You shouldn't have..." Rhaenyra pauses, glancing down at her freshly laundered silk chemise, then at the plate of cheesy eggs her uncle put on the bed in front of her. "Shouldn't have done all this." not like a sweet 'aww, you shouldn't have!' squeaked out by someone who's just received a gift, no, Daemon really shouldn't have done most of the things he did in the past few days. "Yeah?" Daemon grabbed his fork, taking a bite of the eggs on his niece's plate. She nods. "Well you," He boops her nose then places the fork down. "shouldn't have drank so much. You put yourself at risk last night." She doesn't remember drinking, but that does sound like something she would do. Her uncle got up and went into the bathroom. Rhaenyra hears the water run for a few seconds. Daemon must be shaving, she thinks. He always shaves in the morning. Rhaenyra feels her hunger start to set in and begrudgingly picks up a spoon to start eating the eggs that where made for her. "Why am I here, Daemon?" She calls, and Daemon answers without letting even a moment pass. He stands in the doorway of the bathroom. "You're here because as it turns out, I'm incapable of leaving you alone." He pauses, making his way over to the edge of the bed opposite to the one he sat on before. "Listen to me. I'm not right for you. I can't do romance, or... or girlfriends, the whole dating thing, it's -" "I'm twenty-one!" Rhaenyra cuts him off. "And a half. Yes, I know -" "So why do you insist on treating me like a child? I can handle this, I can handle you, you're not some enigma!" At this, Daemon snorts. "Alright then." Rhaenyra's look of confusion returns. "We'll see how well you can handle this, handle... my world." "What?" Rhaenyra questions, but before she has time to ask anything else, her uncle is on the other side of the room getting dressed for work. She just sits there, dumbfounded. "What time do you leave work today?" Daemon's fastening his dark grey jacquard tie. After so many years, it's basically become muscle memory. "Seven. I don't go 'til two though." Rhaenyra had the instinct to answer obediently as always. She's not sure why. "I'll have Criston take you there and pick you up. Be ready."
Rhaenyra spent the whole day at work stocking items absentmindedly, wondering what Daemon could've meant when he told her to be ready. 'Be ready for what?' She repeated in her head. This made the time go by extra quick. Before she knew it, It was seven o'clock and Rhaenyra would have to be ready for... something.
Criston Cole, one of many servants who works for the Targaryens, picks Rhaenyra up at seven on the dot because Daemon is a man of his word. She thinks of freshening up, suddenly very conscious of the fact that she smells like grass right now. After all, being "ready" probably doesn't include smelling of foliage. She sniffs her hands, taking the time to check under her finger nails. No soil, not this time. She quietly celebrates the small victory. An overthinker, she definitely is. Would her uncle even care if she showed up to wherever he was going to take her looking like a mess? No. Would it make her feel just a tiny bit less nervous to look her best? Yes. She takes a look outside the car's window, leaning her head against it.
"Criston?"
He sniffs at Rhaenyra's calling of his name which broke the near fifteen minutes of uninterrupted silence Criston was growing comfortable and familiar with. He never did play music whenever he'd drive Rhaenyra somewhere. She hated almost everything except the sound of her own voice, he guessed, since the only times she would crack a smile in the car with him was when excitedly explaining a topic most would find boring.
"Yeah?"
"Where are we going?"
Rhaenyra's phone is running low, so wherever it is, it better have a charger. Criston shrugs, both of his hands on the wheel as he makes yet another left turn. Rhaenyra hears her purse slide across the seats. She lets out a sigh and stretches her arms. Her mind was all over the place. What exactly was she meant to be getting ready for again?
"Some place Daemon owns, I think. A loft, something like that." Criston yawns. He had been running errands all day. "Don't know."
"Okay."
Rhaenyra drifts to sleep accidentally while thinking about random things. In the blink of an eye, or at least that's what it feels like, Daemon is right in front of her face, his arm rested on the car top. She jumps, clearly startled. Daemon shakes his head, already tsk'ing at her. "Shit, you scared me..." The sky is dark, pitch black even, and Rhaenyra's legs are cold. "Well clearly." His eyes take her in and for a while, Rhaenyra feels like she's getting eaten. Metaphorically, of course. "Oh, what time is it?" She rubs her eyes, then her entire face. "Feels like I've been asleep for ages..." She moves her head and looks behind Daemon. There's a loft, just like Criston said. Behind it was a large field, and is that a...
"Come on, you've kept me waiting long enough." He ushers Rhaenyra out of the car, closes the door, then says his goodbyes to the family's chauffeur. Watching Criston drive off, Rhaenyra's able to see Daemon's land for what it truly is. It had to have been at least twelve acres, and he was growing the most beautiful flowers around the fence. It almost made her forget the giant plane or helicopter in front of her. She could never remember the difference. "What? You didn't know I was such a skilled botanist? Don't be so surprised, it evidently runs in the family." Even though she couldn't care less about her boring job, knowing that Daemon noticed her skill for planting made her feel touched, no matter how jokingly it was said. "Uncle..." Rhaenyra draws in, licking her lips. It was just because they were dry, Daemon knew, yet he couldn't stop staring. That kiss they shared in the kitchen impacted him greatly. "Gods..." He wonders how her skin, chilled by the harsh winter winds, would feel on his. "Uncle!" His niece's soft hand grasps his rough one. "I said, where are we going?" The sound of propellers spinning is suddenly a lot louder, grating in Daemon's ears. "Yes, that, well..." He breathes in and begins to walk, assuming Rhaenyra will follow after him. "That's for me to know and you to find out, little one." He utters the pet name he hadn't called her in a long time.
It's surprisingly quiet in Daemon's helicopter (Rhaenyra remembers the difference after minutes of contemplation) and the view is rather expansive. The breeze wakes her up and her cardigan protects her from the cold. The ride goes by quick, with Rhaenyra spending most of it being silently shocked that Daemon can steer a helicopter so effortlessly. She gives him a look at the end of the ride, one that says 'Where the fuck did you learn this?' and Daemon returns her look with a self-satisfied one that says 'You don't know anything about me at all.' But she does. She swears it, internally.
Daemon helps Rhaenyra out of his helicopter once they land like the gentleman he is willing to pretend to be for his niece's sake. He's not so capable of gentleness. They walk down the steps together, Rhaenyra gripping his hand for longer than necessary until they reach what she understands is his living room. Ah. So this is where he moved after his brother, upon Aemma's request, kicked him out so to speak. Rhaenyra had only heard about that day from Viserys whenever he would scold her for becoming "far too similar to her no-good uncle." No words were exchanged that day, but Daemon could feel the mood shift. Something changed in that building, something in the atmosphere that made it less of a home and more of a house as Aemma took control of it. As far as he was concerned, Rhaenyra was the only precious thing to take up space in that house and she no longer lived there. It's Viserys and Aemma who are really the no-good ones.
Rhaenyra ends up sitting with Daemon at his dining room table upon his request. He fills two wine glasses, one slightly less than the other. They get to talking, updating each other on current events in their lives.
"How are your classes going?"
She scoffs at the question. Daemon couldn't possibly be that cliché, not unironically.
"Is that what you really want to ask me?"
Daemon shakes his head, tipping the glass into his mouth. He practically chugged the thing. He'll get to the point, he decides.
"Rhaenyra," Daemon spoke without using any of her nicknames, making her look up at him straight-faced. "read this. Carefully. And loosen up, yeah?" She looked back down, her fingers gripping the glass in front of her. On the countertop lay a contract of some kind, leaving her with much more questions than she originally had. "Wha-" She stops herself, entirely aghast. 'Is this you? Is this your world?' She thinks. Daemon seems almost amused with her confusion, and he gives her that look again. Realizing her uncle has no intentions of explaining, Rhaenyra skims the stapled pages of the document that was passed for her. Her fingers tremble. Not out of fear, but out of pure bewilderment. "This can't be real." She mutters to herself. Time goes by, pages are flipped.
"No."
"Why the hurry, niece? You don't need to sign anything tonight if you're not up for it."
"This is fucking crazy! An NDA, really? That's so..." Stupid. The word is on the tip of her tongue.
He gives her a different look this time, one that chides her 'I told you so'. And being told is the worst thing ever for Rhaenyra Targaryen, so she quickly opens her mouth again to talk.
"I... I will read it. Alright? That's - That's all I'm promising, I will read this... mess that you've conjured up."
Daemon puts both of his hands up defensively. Rhaenyra wants to wipe that stupid smile off of his face and toss out his stupid, stupid NDA. The conditions were impossible. How was she meant to not disclose anything about their relationship when, if given the chance to be with Daemon, she'd have no choice but to scream it from the rooftops?
"You don't need to explain yourself to me, I am not your father." And Rhaenyra is lucky that he doesn't look or act anything like Viserys, otherwise their situation would be ten times weirder.
Rhaenyra looks over the pieces of paper one last time, about as flippantly as she'd review a test before turning it in. She takes her first sip of the wine Daemon poured as she scribbles her signature at the very bottom. It tastes sweet and complex. By his wide eyes and slightly open mouth, Rhaenyra can tell that she's finally managed to surprise her uncle. Good. She savors the rare feeling just as she savors the lingering taste of cherries. Another sip.
"You're sure, one-hundred percent positive?" Daemon schools his expression quickly, making Rhaenyra frown. She nods, feigning conviction. A sigh escapes Daemon like he's bracing on Rhaenyra's behalf. He nods in the direction of a dark hallway. Down the hall she goes, with her uncle following closely behind her. "This one." Daemon opens a door and leads Rhaenyra in. "Oh, gods." She exclaims genuinely when looking around at Daemon's rather curious collection of items. He turns to her, eager to see little miss "I can handle this"'s reaction to his quite mild, if he does say so himself, hobbies and interests. Her reaction is priceless, she looks like a lost lamb.
Though, Daemon cannot resist giving his usual spiel, so he starts speaking, "I have rules. If you follow them, I'll reward you. If you break them, I'll punish you."
"What do I get out of this?"
Rhaenyra's eyes are soft. And she can put two and two together, but her confusion is not completely gone. Daemon answers simply, taking steps to be closer to her.
"Me. You have me now." He breathes out, his hand coming up to play with Rhaenyra's hair. "We're... exclusive."
Rhaenyra nods. If Daemon is willing, she won't back down. Her doubts haven't absolved, obviously, but she is nothing if not persistent.
Later that night, or early in the morning, she can't tell as Daemon's home suffers from a lack of clocks. He wears a watch, but it's an analog. All Rhaenyra knows is that it is dark outside. She can't remember where she left her phone, but it doesn't matter. Her and Daemon are having their first official meal as a "couple", and that's what truly counts. She swallows a waffle fry and licks salt from her fingers. Daemon is sure she's being accidentally lewd. He chuckles under his breath. Clueless.
"So, what are your plans? What's this gonna be?" Rhaenyra takes a sip of her homemade milkshake, taking in the nostalgia. Daemon was insanely good with sweets. He breathes in, realizing that his food has gone pretty much untouched due to him being infatuated with his niece he forgot to pay attention to himself. Is this what love feels like?
"I already have a contract prepared. We could negotiate the terms and determine what you are and are not willing to try." 'Oh boy.' Rhaenyra thinks. She was hoping it wouldn't come up. With bits and pieces of confidence left over from earlier, she answers boldly. "I wouldn't know." She then shrugs, swallowing.
"What do you mean?"
"Because I haven't..." She shakes her head. "Daemon, I've never..."
"You've done other things, right?"
"No. Nothing at all."
Simultaneously, Daemon is both kicking and congratulating himself.
"Guys must throw themselves at you. Harwin -" Oh, right. He feels mostly responsible for Rhaenyra's nervous fidgeting. The poor girl looks like she's trying to shrink into herself. He grabs her by the waist, pulling her in to his side. "It's okay. Step by step." He assures her. He doesn't want to be too mean, not to his favorite girl. Her eyes light up and she faces him, finally, and nods. "Step by step." They both smile like giddy children. "Tomorrow, do you want to...?" Rhaenyra can't even say the word, but with her usual shyness around the man it's a wonder she made it that far into the sentence. It takes him not even a millisecond to catch what she's asking for. "Yes." He kisses the top of her head. "I would like that very much."

Alicent is sitting on the bed at her computer when Rhaenyra walks in. Her welcoming smile turns into one of confusion as she observes her friend's irritated expression.
"Rhae?" Her eyes follow Rhaenyra all throughout the dorm room until she finally sits in front of their shared wardrobe. "Is... something wrong?"
Rhaenyra huffs. "He thinks I'm a child. I'm not childish at all." "Oh..." Alicent nods, still quite clueless. She assumes Rhaenyra must be talking about the interview with Daemon, but she was sure her flashcards were thought out well enough that the day would go smoothly. "But... but he's the one who was flirting with me. I mean, he said we were going on a date. A date!" Alicent powers off her computer, preparing for a recap on what she apparently missed. "Um, I'm confused. He took you on a date? Like, just now?" She smiles and sits up to lean on her pillow, more than excited for the juicy drama. Rhaenyra seems to have calmed down a little.
"Yeah, I just don't think it was a real date. I don't know, he's confusing. Maybe he just likes confusing people." Alicent shakes her head. Targaryens are always so far removed from reality, she thinks. "So what'd he say? About my flashcards, I mean, did he like them?" Both girls chuckle. Alicent slides over a bowl of cherries and offers Rhaenyra one. "Really though, what did he say that's got you so..." She trails off. "Well," Rhaenyra starts. Alicent prepares herself in advance. "He just gives me mixed signals, you know? Like, now that I think about it..." Memories come back to her all at once. Daemon was always the "cool" uncle. At his house, Rhaenyra had full control over the TV at all times and anyone who dared to complain about it would have to deal with the man of the house's death stare. That wasn't all, he was also her introduction to a lot of things. Her first kiss?  Daemon took it at her sweet sixteen, guiding her to a secluded area of his beach house to give her an in-depth lesson on frenching. Her first time driving? He was in the passenger's seat, watching as she hit all the cones that stood in the empty parking lot with a proud expression. He even considered himself her first boyfriend despite that damn Strong boy next door being the first to officially take her out on a proper date. He was there before Harwin and everything Rhaenyra did with Harwin during that relationship, she did with him first. Nobody could blame her for being confused, as this was how certain members of her family acted with other certain members, claiming it was only platonic brotherly love. Through all of the confusion though, one thing was for sure. "He's always been like this. " He wouldn't let anyone else have her. She can't decide whether or not that fact makes her upset or not.
Alicent places a hand on Rhaenyra's shoulder and smiles supportively even though she knows it's probably no help. She'd never been interested in a guy, only found them attractive and then got over it. It would be nice though, she thinks, to experience a desire for men. She was tired of missing out on something every girl she knew seemed to enjoy thoroughly. Alas, if she were to say 'just talk to him' that would most likely be met with a deep sigh for a response. "I can't help you with that... but hey, we could go somewhere fun to get your mind off it!" Alicent could use a trip to help her relieve the stress of exams. "Good Idea."
Rhaenyra haphazardly packed her belongings into a black silver-striped suitcase. A few dresses, pairs of stockings, shorts, and pants. Her cottages would have the essentials and more. She was happy to get out of the 'house' for once. The only reason she stayed in her shitty little dorm was that she had made a bet with her sister, the prodigy of the family, that whoever could stay the longest would get the other's Christmas money. The loser would also owe the winner a favor, and Rhaenyra had no interest in owing Helaena of all people. She had not a clue what that girl got up to most times, but it was never good.
"It'll be a super long drive, no?" Alicent mumbled as she got into the taxi, sitting in the back on the right. She much preferred flying over driving. Rhaenyra shook her head. Their things were in the trunk as they both didn't pack very much. "Eight hours, tops. We'll stop at a point, then Rhaenys could drive us the rest of the way." Alicent's eyes widened. She suddenly found herself wishing she brought a blanket and her favorite pillow. She wasn't like Rhaenyra, who could take day-long road trips with her uncle in the back of his truck and not feel a thing.
The rest of the way to Dragonstone was fairly uneventful. Pee breaks, a visit to the convenience store, and finally, a midnight trip to the closest waffle house. Rhaenyra and Rhaenys were on semi-good terms so the car ride wasn't so awkward. It was just that she couldn't stand her cousin (once removed)'s husband. Corlys was a known cheater. No one could wrap their head around what made Rhaenys stand by him so proudly when he never failed to embarrass her each time. Rhaenyra would ignore it, she really would, if their marriage wasn't being shoved in her face every second. Corlys just had to be at every cookout, birthday party, graduation, and so on. If he wasn't present, Rhaenys would be showing off her shut-up ring to everybody nearby. Rhaenyra shook her head, focusing her thoughts on the lovely view instead. Not her circus, not her monkeys. Once her and Alicent were dropped off - Rhaenys not pulling off until she saw both girls step inside, like always - they both "unpacked" which for them meant throwing all of their bags on the carpet and couch then immediately settling in. Alicent went to the kitchen first, pouring herself a glass of whatever that dark burgundy liquid was in the fridge as she yawned. As long as it was alcohol, she'd be fine with it.
Rhaenyra, on the other hand, made her first stop by the shore. She remembers, albeit vaguely, being a lot younger and commanding Daemon to take her to the beach every single day. She would wake him up and tug on his hair as hard as she could, her fingers often getting tangled in it at the earliest, most inconvenient times. But her uncle could never refuse her, and so they would play in the water each day. Splashing each other, building sand castles, and digging holes deep enough to fit "treasure" (random shells Rhaenyra would smugly present to Daemon) into. She sits in the exact same spot that she remembers sitting in then. 'Our castle' is what he'd always say when referring to the gigantic structure of Dragonstone that supposedly had seawater 'good enough to drink', making the promise that whenever Rhaenyra grew and got around to having children that Daemon would move into their castle with her and help raise her adorable little princes and princesses until the end of their days. Of course, she dumbly assumed that when he said that Dragonstone was theirs, he meant that it belonged to their family. It was only recently that it clicked in her mind; he really did want her. He just couldn't allow himself to have her for whatever reason. She would be embarrassed to admit that she was only able to sleep peacefully that night imagining his soothing voice whispering to her paired with the sound of crashing waves.
🌹
In the morning, however, her beauty sleep is interrupted by a noise that contrasts the ones she fell asleep to. She's awoken by the sizzling of a pan and the TV playing softly. She could tell that what used to be her favorite cartoon was on from how often the colors that reflected onto the wall switched around. The savory smell of eggs, bacon, and fresh simit brought her out of bed and into the kitchen. She stopped in her tracks, noticing her uncle's silver hair. "Uncle...?" Rhaenyra sat on the counter, her eyes halfway closed from tiredness. How could Daemon have possibly gotten in? She figured everyone would have to notify one of the butlers, or at least whoever was staying there at the time before barging in after last year's incident. "My favorite niece." He gave her a quick kiss on the forehead then turned back to the cutting board where he was preparing something. Alicent was in the pool having the time of her life, not that Rhaenyra was alert enough to notice her friend's absence.
She smiles at Daemon's words, feeling only the tiniest bit of guilt for delighting in it. Helaena wouldn't mind even if she were there, she was much more focused on her overall reputation, which was quite perfect. "How'd you get in?" She questions Daemon. He scoffs in response. "It wasn't difficult." He wouldn't have gone as far as to pick the lock, so Rhaenyra assumes he had a key made. He'd gotten the original taken away a while ago after Aemma voiced her concerns about her daughter being so close to the man. "You won't get rid of me that easily." 'I don't want to be rid of you,' Rhaenyra wishes she could say. Daemon has his hands on either side of Rhaenyra's thighs. "I know." She shifted, her light violet eyes locking with her uncle's dark ones. "Don't you have school or something to get to?" Daemon leaned in closer, as if their love, or whatever you would call that warmth in her lower stomach, was a secret. She only still attended college to say that she did it, to not have only her diploma. It was only the background to her life, and she'd heard that skipping lectures wasn't a punishable offense in most classes. "No. Do you have work or something to get to?" Daemon leaned in impossibly closer, his nose almost touching Rhaenyra's. "You're such a child." She took this chance and pulled him in by the shoulders. Her fingers dug into his skin and their lips met.
As they continued to kiss, Daemon loosened up a bit. He allowed his hands to roam wherever they wanted, pinning Rhaenyra down on the counter. She gasps at this, her hands going to his hair. The kisses travel down both of her cheeks and then her neck. "Daemon," She calls out. Not uncle, just Daemon. Her Daemon, at that, and no one else's. "Hm?" He relishes in the way his niece's arms wrap around him, her legs following suit soon after. The breakfast he made sits on the counter, long forgotten. "Fuck me. Now, here, please?" Daemon knows he shouldn't. He knew he shouldn't, no matter how tempting it is. That's just what the angel on his shoulder says. The devil tells him that if she could consider his offer, it was only his right to do the same. No one was around, she wanted it as much as he did and... "No, we can't." The words are painful for him to even utter. How he longs to be inside of her with no one around to interrupt them. Waiting is better, he tells himself. But when will the wait be over? Rhaenyra whines. The universe was always so cruel to her.
"I said please..." Her grasp on Daemon's shoulders loosened. "And I said no. You're... you're too young, we shouldn't even gone this far, now hush." He exhales deeply and stands up, pacing around the kitchen as he tries to think of things that would do a good job of distracting him. Rhaenyra reluctantly sits up. She didn't want it to be over just yet. She followed him to the other side of the kitchen. "Uncle? You know I love you." She sat across from him now, both of them at the dinner table. "This," He started, gesturing between the two of them. "Cannot ever happen." His voice was more serious, more urgent than it usually was. Another whine came from Rhaenyra. "Why not?" Her mind was so foggy, she genuinely couldn't conceptualize why he would say no. Her arms wrapped around him once again as she rested her head on his chest. "Please?" Her pleading comes in the form of whispers now. Daemon inhales sharply. Rhaenyra didn't know just how hard he had to try so that he'd hold back. "I'm not... wouldn't be good for this, for you..." He whispers as well, matching Rhaenyra's tone. She tries to kiss him but he pushes her, putting quite a bit of distance between them.
"But you said..." She whispers, looking directly at her uncle's lips. "I said nothing. Forget this and go to bed. I will do the same." He looks down at her one last time before disappearing somewhere down the hall. "Unbelievable." Rhaenyra mutters to herself. She considers letting it go, but she always used to chase after Daemon. She always demanded his attention as a child. Why would he have a problem with it now? She wishes she could ask him everything, pick his brain and understand why he has to be so... difficult.

Rhaenyra sniffles, the scent of paint has never been a particularly pleasant one. Today was a slow day, at least, so she could get away with slacking off as long as it looked like she was doing something. She never wanted the job in the first place, but she was stuck there since according to her father she needed to learn 'team building skills'. She rolls her eyes at the thought. Viserys never made Aegon get a job, and he had been old enough to drive for a while now. A customer comes in but she ignores them. Either Laena or Laenor could go help them, she thought. But just as Rhaenyra's about to put her head down and sleep at her desk someone taps her on the shoulder.
"Hm?" She answers, still not looking up.
"It's me, angel. Gods, you weren't even going to help your poor uncle, were you?" Rhaenyra takes a deep breath and then sighs. Her uncle is fully capable of helping himself to most things in the shop, he just picked this particular day to be difficult.
She yawns, rubbing her eyes before standing up next to Daemon. "Did you need anything special?" She ditches the customer service voice this time. After all, what's Daemon going to do? Snitch on her to her father and tell him that his daughter is a bad cashier? She doesn't even need this job but because of her family's status the boss won't fire her.
After collecting the rope Daemon needed, they both make their way back to the register. A weird thing to purchase, Rhaenyra thinks, but she's too out of it to truly question his decisions. "So how is your mother?" Daemon asks once Rhaenyra hands him the receipt and the rope he came all this way to bother her for.
"She's... good, I guess." She looks around, giving Laenor a judging look when she spots him in the breakroom with Laena. "I don't know, I haven't been home in a month or two."
"Hm." Daemon pushes Rhaenyra's glasses up for her, which she flinches at. "When are you off from work? Maybe we could get hot chocolate or... maybe we could go back to my place."
Rhaenyra fights back a smile. Of course Daemon would remember that she hates prefers hot chocolate to coffee. She doesn't pick up on the fact that he's flirting with her, but she can sense something different in his tone. "We could go to Genevieve's at 2:00... then your place." She full on grins now, enjoying the feeling of her uncle's hands in her hair. This always happens, she notices. She'll go without talking to Daemon in person for a while, sometimes even exceeding half a year, then they meet again and Daemon does something that makes her swoon.
"Good. It's a date then, I'll call you."
At two, Rhaenyra is sitting on her bed, anxiously awaiting Daemon's call. She can't understand why she's so nervous. Sure, she likes him, but she could talk to all of her previous crushes without all of this... mess. With Criston, her family's bodyguard who was assigned to her for quite some time, she had no issues trying to impress him or even having regular conversations. With Harwin, who was a guy she briefly dated after meeting him through a friend, there were barely any feelings there at all. Things are different with Daemon, they always have been.
"I'll just have the hot chocolate, no whipped cream, and a butter cookie." Daemon gives Rhaenyra a look from across the table, one of those looks that she knows means he's about to say something either wildly inappropriate or stupid. "What...? What is it, come on, I know you're gonna ask me something." She chuckles, trying to stay quiet because the restaurant is almost dead silent.
"Nyra," He places a hand on hers. "Do you have a... little crush on me?" She gasps and tries to move away from him, but her efforts only bring them closer. "I won't be mad, just tell me." After a pause she nods. Her uncle must like her too, she thinks. Why else would this occasion feel more like a date than a family get-together?
"Your honesty pleases me." Daemon says, sighing. "This does cause difficulties, I must admit." Rhaenyra understands. Her uncle has never been one to date, flings and one night stands were always more his style. He had just been in a cheating scandal not too long before his most recent divorce, and by how distraught Rhea looked as she packed her things to leave him Rhaenyra guessed he wasn't a very good boyfriend or husband. "We can't date?" Rhaenyra frowned when she asked the question, taking a bite of her cookie. She began to go over possible reasons her uncle might not desire her. It couldn't have been that they were related, incest was legal where they lived and had been practiced by their family for centuries. Now that his wife was out of the way, there should be no reason Daemon wouldn't rush to put a ring on his niece's finger. Perhaps he has someone? It wouldn't be totally off brand for him to find someone new when he had just signed divorce papers three months ago.
"I don't do the whole 'girlfriend' thing." Daemon mutters, chuckling at Rhaenyra's obvious confusion. "Gets in the way." He takes a small sip of his americano. 'gets in the way of what?' she wonders. Her uncle had always been a perplexing mystery. It seemed that his heart belonged to only himself, and Rhaenyra was determined to change that. "But... what about what happened last week in your office? Did you really only want for things to stay like this?" Rhaenyra fidgets nervously. "Relationships are complicated. So are feelings. If we were to... do any of what you want, there would be consequences." Rhaenyra tries, she tries desperately to listen and hear what her uncle is saying but she just can't understand.
She stays silent for the rest of the time they spend in that small café. When they're ready to leave Daemon notices her perturbed expression. "It's not that you're immature," He starts off his statement in the worst way. He must think she's immature, that's probably exactly what it is. "You're a very smart girl, I just..." Rhaenyra's eyes narrow in the same way that they used to whenever she'd lose a game of uno to Daemon. "You're too young." He finally says the words she never wanted to hear. She sighs, letting go of his hand as they walk down the busy sidewalk together. As she's led into one of her uncle's cars, she makes a promise to herself that she'll prove Daemon wrong. She can be mature, their age difference won't matter, he'll see.

"Uh, you are very young to have amassed such an empire. To what do you owe —"
"To what do I owe my success?"
"...Yeah."
Daemon chuckles. From how fast Rhaenyra's foot taps on the porcelain floor he'd be surprised if it didn't crack soon.
"Did Alicent write that one too?"
Rhaenyra's hand slowly moves to the stack of shoddily pushed together sticky notes as if her uncle didn't notice the fact that she'd been staring down at them for the entire duration of what was supposed to be an interview of sorts.
"How'd you know?"
She finally looks up at him, and he puts down the rubik's cube in his hands for long enough to give her a sly smile.
"Tell her she flatters me, I haven't been considered young in a while...Not since before you were born, in fact."
This makes Rhaenyra shudder. She was sitting in a man's office, fantasizing about him all the while he was old enough to vividly remember her birth. To add incest to injury, that man was also her uncle. Gross.
"I don't see why this newspaper interviewing thing needs to happen anyway - we're born rich, uncle, what purpose does this serve?"
Daemon shrugs and sits at his desk. He takes a sip from his tea cup then sighs.
"Appearances, darling, appearances. We have to make them."
Rhaenyra rolls her eyes, struggling to stand from the chairs that were much too soft to be in her uncle's office. When she was a child, she would often call them 'quicksand beds'. A small hint of a smile returns to her face at the memory which, in turn, makes Daemon smile once again.
"There's that pretty face. Come here."
She's suddenly dragged down onto Daemon's lap.
"Uncle, we... really shouldn't do this."
A few kisses on Rhaenyra's face stop her train of thought for a few moments.
"Just stay with me, hm?"
Rhaenyra scoffs.
"Can't. I have an essay to turn in tonight, and I gotta pick up dinner."
A desperate, almost needy exhale escapes Daemon. He closes his eyes as he pulls her closer, his arms wrapping around her waist
"Forever. Just us. You can even be my intern,"
Rhaenyra interrupts him then pulls away in a manner makes Daemon nervous, though it's only a few inches.
"Intern?"
"I'll pay you good, you know that. Take care of you and... I don't know, just please."
He speaks in between kisses. Rhaenyra hugs him before getting up and grabbing her backpack.
"What're you doing?"
Daemon's eyes open, his niece is no longer on his lap.
"I really would love to stay," She starts. "but like I said, dinner and that essay."
Her uncle can't see them from where he is, but her hands are viciously shaking as well as her legs. This was another one of those days. Those days when Daemon would get a bit too close in a place that was a bit too public for the type of affection he wanted to give Rhaenyra. Usually, the worst that would happen was a scolding from her mother but she was older now, which meant she was expected to abide by what was socially acceptable and what wasn't. Just the thought of one of those poor assistants walking in on their boss making out with his niece made her brain want to kill itself.
Daemon stands and fixes his tie in the full-length mirror adjacent to his desk. Conceited, Rhaenyra thinks while fixing the pins in her hair.
"Bye, uncle."
She skips the usual goodbye kiss. Too weird this time, she figures.
"Consider my offer, at least."
Rhaenyra stops in front of the door, adjusting her sunglasses.
"Maybe."
Once she's gone, Daemon laughs to himself.
On the other side of the door Rhaenyra sighs in relief. It was a miracle she made it out of there without freaking out and reverting back to her cringe, 14 year old self who was starved for attention and made if obvious whenever she was seeking it. She wouldn't consider his offer, she couldn't.

Excuse me while I fan myself over here...like geez people. If Daemon gifts her a silk dress and a mask to wear that night? I wonder if it starts w/ Nyra trying to seduce Daemon, but she can't? Like he stops her?
There should be a table before Nyra at the club w/ toys on it she can see. That Daemon can bend the girl over so he can look directly at her squirming, and watch her watching?
THE PART ABT RHAENYRA TRYING AND FAILING TO SEDUCE DAEMON IS ALREADY WRITTEN HOW DID U READ MY MIND JHADJKBADJC

Wow u all I luv the no kissing rule idea! And making this the 'brothel' could be so sooo hawt! For real!! But can the club be like they are wearing masks?! But she can still see his eyes clear, watching her so intently she almost feels like it's her that he's touching ?? Did I understand that he says she can't touch herself until he says she can? A test? Beautiful torture, watching him, watching her?! 🥵🔥🥵
u guys are seriously so creative ^_^ i never wouldve thought of this like ever but im having insane writers block rn so yeah

Not wanting to leave your readers w/ ‘no smut’ is perhaps not really a good reason to move your characters into a huge step neither are ready for. Especially w/ something like bdsm. Respect it, even thou the movie did not. Just my imo thoughts :) TC w/ school n all
thank u !!
a little rant on the topic of school tho it like genuinely sucks. like, most people hate school and i hated public school when i was still attending like last year but online school (specifically science and english) is wayyyy worse because its so just,,, i dont really care about science so its hard to get through learning about the water cycle when i truly dont gaf about it lol. as for english, it just takes away my motivation to write because im forced to read a bunch of books i dont care about and i have to write essays :( ik its important or whatever but still like when i started online school i thought id have the time to just write all day whenever but ughhh its seriously such an inconvenience. i still like this way more than public school but wow. if anyones like older than me and reads my stuff can u please like tell me if school gets better because oml

“”Cuz like sorry voters but you don’t understand 50 shades or are too horney and don’t care if wanting them to have sex to soon and vote for sexy times just after he says she’s too young. Read to room! Don’t ruin the start!” - THIS!!!! It doesn’t make sense for them to have sex so soon if 50S is the base 😝 Also, since no one said it. I like the idea of her watching him play so he can give her an idea what she’s asking for. Good idea Nonnie!!
honestly i agree i think im just gonna redo the chapter and make it how like u guys said

Kay so idea us for like a brothel reverse . Like as if Daemon told Nyra she’s too young right? But he still like almost kisses her or she gets seductive to him. So he thinks ok, you want this let me show you what you are in for. And he takes her to club where he can like show her a scene where HE is working a woman and she watches what he is into?! And like she gets super turned on of course but like can’t touch her own until HE says so. Just a little taste. Cuz like sorry voters but you don’t understand 50 shades or are too hornet and don’t care if wanting them to have sex to soon and vote to sexy time just after he says she’s too young. Read to room! Don’t ruin the start!! 🙏🏼
im still suuuuuper conflicted on it like idk,,,, ive been thinking about it and it really could go either way because i could make this chapter long or i could make the tension go on but the reason im leaning more towards having them fuck like rn is because im gonna take a long ass break after chapter 3 so i don't wanna leave ppl with no smut yk ?

Hi 👋🏻 What’s a b-side? Did you um want ideas? I maybe have one 😳 I like you included Daemon doesn’t do gfs because Rhaneyra is wifey 😘 Gonna be hehe
hiii so basically a b-side is a music term for when there's a song that goes with an album/is released during the same time period but isn't actually on the album. in terms of this fic tho, its just a oneshot that doesn't have to be read in order to understand the whole thing.
as for your other question, i'm open to ideas <3
