There’s a pile of Titan vomit in front of him. The gooey, ball-like shape, bigger than Jean himself, is covered in ribbons of saliva that keep it plastered to a building’s wall. It’s a thing of nightmares; like a nest of some gigantic spider – one that feeds on humans.

Jean can’t tear his eyes away from the horrors hidden behind the sticky shell; the gaping mouths, broken limbs, ropes of intestines… Sasha gags somewhere next to him, and Jean finally shakes himself awake.

“Don’t just stand here. Go find Conny,” he tells her, and it comes out much softer than he intended. 

Sasha nods, not hiding her relief, and quickly walks away. As a huntress, she must be struggling to understand the nature of a predator that doesn’t kill out of hunger. Jean is struggling with this concept himself. He looks at the vomit again. Sasha might be weird, but he is glad she survived. Many of their comrades didn’t have that much luck. Even Mina… It’s ironic, how Jean’s heroic act had bought her only a month of life.

i like the general consensus that pieck and connie bond not just from proximity as ambassadors: they both take care of their parents and have felt that responsibility from a very young age, among their peers who are either orphans or have healthier parents. titan healing and pain/fatigue from the transformation itself seem to coexist (eren's nosebleeds, pieck using a crutch), so i imagine pieck meets mrs springer and they quickly develop a bit about their back issues and do yoga together. imo mrs springer ships them but connie mostly hangs out with niccolo
