another small update
things unfortunately have gotten even more hectic since i made this post (both related and unrelated to the “life thing” i was talking about), which has meant i’ve made no progress on any new posts since my rampart range + tape analysis ones :-/
not having time for working on stuff has caused my internet in making infoposts to wane somewhat, but i do still intend on (at the very least) finishing up the following list i have planned—though doing so is at the bottom of my list of priorities currently—

for now, infopost requests are closed, since i don’t want to add even more onto my plate while there’s so much unfinished stuff on it, but you’re more than welcome to still send me asks and whatnot!
thank y’all for understanding,
- tec <3

dylan & eric’s cars
⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡
dylan’s:

dylan drove a black 1982 bmw 320i. he had several bumper stickers on it, including one for “dig your own hole” by the chemical brothers, a dj spooky “that subliminal kid - riddim warfare” one, a rammstein logo, and one that said “hate this town.” there was also a creature from the black lagoon toy on the dash.

these last photos are of dylan’s actual car, the first being from the “morning ritual” video with nate, the second pair from when it was on sale, and the third after being refurbished by its current owner.
⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡
eric’s:
eric drove a grey 1986 honda prelude 2.0 Si, and had a rammstein sticker in the rear window. in the “CHS highway patrol” video, there’s a clearer shot of the sticker seen, along with this clip of eric while he’s driving.

⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡
together:

you can see their cars next to each other in radioactive clothing, and—if i’m identifying things correctly—the black car eric parks next to in this part of the CHS highway patrol video is dylan’s (shown with a matching rammstein sticker in the lower right of the rear window).

okay so it was quite different from what i was expecting! i thought the focus was going to be mostly on CHS & dylan’s story/mental state, but that was more of a background/foundational aspect—the main focus was instead on trying to understand the prevalence of mental health issues and how we can target them before they become a crisis. it was a bit hard hearing the stories of suicide loss survivors, as i myself have lost one of my closest loved ones that way, but that’s sort of the nature of that subject so i wasn’t put-off by it all that much.
overall though, the message is hopeful and centered around the fact that change is possible and that these sorts of tragedies don’t have to keep happening, which is something i very strongly believe in. i definitely recommend watching it if you’re curious :-)
watching american tragedy for the first time, pray for me 😭
#it is a bit sad hearing educators & professionals talking about how change could be made if measures were put in place to teach kids about#mental wellness because i know that it’s unlikely to happen any time soon due to it likely being deemed “woke brainwashing” by those who#have power to make a nationwide change#but i digress#we’re not getting into politics on this blog lmao#tec thoughtz

the battan report, evidence items retrieved from eric post-massacre (#8700-8713)

items #3700-3711: clothing items, body bag, nail scrapings, and hair samples — retrieved by wayne harris 2/17/04 (the red writing says “no changes made to these”)
item #8712: fingerprint card — destroyed 2/16/11
items #8713: wallet w/contents, leather case, match striker — partially released to wayne harris 9/14/00, partially destroyed 2/16/11
note: it isn’t specified which item(s) from #8713 were destroyed and which were retrieved. my best guess is the match striker was destroyed, as it was likely the one he wore on his wrist during the massacre, but that’s only speculation.

Just here to say that I really appreciate all the work you put into your blog. The respectful and factual way you present each post reminds me to consume true crime more ethically. So thank you and hope you have a good day! 🫶🏻
i seriously can’t express how much this means to me omg 🥹 i really do try my best to be respectful and thoughtful with all of my content, since true crime is an inherently tricky subject to tackle, so i’m incredibly glad that the work i do has a positive impact :-) thank YOU for appreciating and for sending this, i hope you have a good day as well <3

yooo just an opinion...like why does every school shooting feels like a copy of Columbine? As a info poster on tumblr i've read plenty web sites, books even and a lot of videos and news coverage from back the date. Supposedly is the more known shooting because well it had plenty coverage on the news and was shown in a "explicit" way (The suicide pics, the video of the guy in the window, leaked 911 audios, the whole diaries, the videos etc) but honestly all school shootings feels like a bad copy of columbine or a attempt to "recreate" it even if they say they arent copying them, not that we want a recreation lol it would be pretty awful tbh
honestly i think the simple answer here is that the majority (if not all) of modern shootings are inspired by c*lumbine in one way or another. it was arguably THE shooting that brought gun violence in schools to the forefront of media and public attention, for the reasons you mentioned + the fact that tragedies like it weren’t as commonplace before then—it certainly wasn’t the first ever, but it was absolutely one of the most publicized at the time.
beyond that, later “famous” shooters were directly inspired by dylan & eric, whose own massacres (notably vtech and sandy hook) went on to inspire others (MSD, weis market, etc), and so on and so forth from there—however, the “reasonings” for subsequent attacks became more and more distilled and derivative.
in an ideal world, that distillation would mean less and less interest placed on shootings, however it doesn’t seem like that will happen any time soon. there is something to be said though about the kind of interest that is currently taking place—interest in committing them hasn’t lessened all that much, but the media/public response certainly has. this again comes from the prevalence of gun violence in schools making reports on it “unremarkable” in the public opinion.
to me, it seems like more apathy/disinterest = less media outcry = no substantial changes in prevention. it shouldn’t come as a surprise that, since the vast majority of these cases take place in america, the key issue is ease of access to firearms + how powerful they are. sure, if you want a small pistol for home protection or a rifle for hunting, that’s alright, but nobody needs high-powered assault weapons—their only purpose is to cause massive amounts of destruction in a very short amount of time.
until laws are changed, the “c*lumbine effect” remains very real, and unfortunately won’t go away any time soon.
#sorry this is so rambley i just have a lot of feelings about this issue#tec answerz#tec thoughtz#tcc tumblr#tccblr#tcc columbine#true cringe community#teeceecee

What kind of mental Disorders do you think Eric and Dylan have? I’ve thought Eric was BPD and Dylan was Depressed and Skitzotypal and autistic.
typically diagnoses aren’t made post-mortem—plus i’m not a mental health professional, nor have i met either of the pair obviously—so i can’t say definitively what specific mental illness(es) they may have had.
that being said, there is sufficient evidence that dylan was indeed depressed (both from self-admission and observations from friends & family) and suffered from suicidal thoughts/ideation. sue has stated she thinks dylan could have been on the spectrum, noting behaviors in his childhood that are indicative of potential neurodivergence. in regards to schizotypal personality disorder—and any other personality disorder for that matter—it’s extremely uncommon for individuals to be diagnosed under the age of 18, as the brain is still in its height of development, so i don’t think it’s really likely.
we know dylan self-medicated with both alcohol and st john’s wort, however it seems that no antidepressants were ever prescribed to him.
eric on the other hand was prescribed several different SSRIs (specifically zoloft/sertraline and luvox/fluvoxamine), which can be used to target depression, anxiety, and OCD. from his diversion files, we know he often felt “mixed up or confused,” and he marked the following things as stuff he struggled with:

however whether any of these were due to mental illness or were simply internal turmoil isn’t able to be determined.
i do want to emphasize that there’s really no way to tell for sure what they may or may not have been dealing with, since they’ve been dead for over 25 years now. this is just my amateur opinion lol

rampart range
note: i won’t be posting the video here since i don’t think tumblr would take too kindly to that sort of content being shared, but it can be viewed on bill ockham’s internet archive or on the r/c*lumbinekillers subreddit.
additionally, i’m going to shorten the name of the items used to “gns” or specifically “SG” to avoid having the word “gun” written repeatedly in this post.
⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡

this roughly 16 1/2 minute video was filmed on march 6, 1999 featuring eric, dylan, philip duran, mark manes, and jessica miklich shooting gns in a valley/clearing near rampart range.
phil was a coworker of d&e’s at blackjack’s, and he introduced them both to mark—who sold dylan his TEC-DC9 in january of 1999—along with inviting them to go shooting.
according to mark, they all had gone shooting together several times prior to march 6th, however they didn’t videotape any of those previous times.
the majority of the gns shown in this video were the ones dylan & eric would later use for nbk.
⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡

during the footage, dylan & eric both injure their hands repeatedly due to how short they’ve sawn the barrels down.
eric’s savage springfield 67H had both the stock and barrel sawn off, making the entire length 26” in total. for reference, the original size of the 67H was 47.5” in total (the barrel alone being 28”), so they essentially halved the length of the SG.
while not as extreme, dylan’s savage stevens 311-D double barrel SG had its barrel sawn down to ~23” from the original size of 26”—the total length being ~42”.
(regardless, sawing any length off of gns is highly illegal and dangerous)
⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡
jeffco cut down the original footage, only to release the rest of it at a later date, though the purpose of doing so remains unclear. both outlinks for the video i included earlier in this post contain all available clips.
there’s some speculation around portions of this later-released footage along with the ending of the main rampart range tape, however i’ve made a separate post regarding that since it’s unconfirmed theories.
⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡
if there’s anything i missed in this post or any further questions y’all have, please don’t hesitate to send me an ask!

rampart range extra frames + speculation
at the end of the full rampart range footage, there’s a few frames that appear to be out of place—notably not from the previous video, but also not identifiable as any footage that has been publicly released thus far.
these frames show a darkened area—clear that the camera is on, rather than just being a blank screen—and what sounds like an engine idling. due to this information, some people have theorized it’s the start/part of one of the basement tapes.
as a note, the way jeffco labelled evidence often times had multiple items under a single evidence number—such as JCSO #298 being ambiguously called “video tapes” when it was specifically two separate tapes. this gets a bit convoluted when researching and trying to establish a proper timeline for the basement tapes, as there were also several “entries” filmed at separate times in different locations on the same physical tape, making the total count be around 10 entries across 5 different tapes.
(i can make a more in-depth post on what we know about the basement tapes, but i won’t go on that tangent here since this post is already long enough 😅)
if these frames are indeed a clip from the start of one of the basement tapes, i personally believe it’s likely to be from JCSO evidence item #333, labelled “top secret rampart.” this tape includes a portion showing eric driving his car alone—presumably at night—where he mentions he’s gonna be dead in “2 1/2 weeks” placing the tape’s filming date around late march or early april.
most theories i’ve seen speculate the clip being from one of the two 8mm video tapes that JCSO evidence item #298 consists of, labelled “reb’s tape,” which also takes place in a car—dylan filming, eric driving—however they state that it’s april 11th at the time of recording, making it over a month after rampart range and several other “entries” in the basement tapes were filmed.
of course, this entire theory is purely speculative, so there’s no concrete answers (publicly available) as to what this extra clip is truly from.
⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡
as a slight tangent, included in the (later-released) cut footage from jeffco is a clip of what appears to be a desktop recording of someone (perhaps a law enforcement official) navigating a file explorer containing the rampart range footage, several other illegible files/folders, and the “breakfast run” video, which is then played.

if this is indeed a desktop from law inforcement, as indicated by the JCSO and CBI screens at the start of the clip, it could be assumed that all the files/folders are other videos related the case—both released and non-released.
once again, this is only speculation, but i thought it was an interesting anecdote 😅

i finally have a day off work, and i was gonna dedicate some of it to making progress on jeff kass’ book, but i ran out of post-it note flags in the middle of it and ended up having to go to the store during rush hour 🥲 have no fear though, i now have an absurd amount of little flags to mark interesting passages for y’all :-)
also there was a portion discussing an “anonymous/unsigned” piece of writing found on dylan’s server, which apparently randy brown insisted wasn’t written by dylan, but then kass included a snippet of it and it was the most dylan writing you could ever imagine
#the author used the word “halcyon” incorrectly so i IMMEDIATELY knew who wrote it lmao#tec thoughtz

a mother’s reckoning, chapter 7: one mother to another

“Afterward, Dylan's friends scattered like beads from a broken necklace. Not surprisingly, many of them suffered serious difficulties for years. Nate stopped by our house on his way out of town. He asked for an item to remember his friend by, a request that moved me, and I was happy to see him choose a pair of Dylan's sunglasses—they reminded us both of Dylan, in happier times.
But Nate had something to tell us, too. He'd seen Dylan give a large wad of money to a guy they worked with at Blackjack Pizza. When Nate pressed him, Dylan told him the money was for a gun.
We were dumbfounded by this news. Even Tom was willing to finally express anger toward Dylan for lying to us. We had been clinging to the belief that Dylan was an innocent victim, ensnared by Eric at the last minute—and yet here was evidence that he had taken an active role in buying a gun, more evidence that my son had not been the person I thought he was.” — sue k, a mother’s reckoning (pg. 90)
i often see criticism towards sue for her supposedly “perpetuating the leader/follower myth,” and while i do believe that there are times where she downplays dylan’s involvement or passes more blame onto eric, a lot of what she talks about in her book is how she’s trying to reconcile with the fact that he did commit this crime and he was her son who she loved so dearly.
this chapter is probably the one where she goes most into depth about it, though it’s kind of a general through-line in the book. a few pages later, she even states, “Even if Eric had masterminded a plan and urged Dylan to participate, Dylan was a smart kid. He could have found a way to get himself out of it if he wanted to. Why hadn't he?” (pg. 101).
besides, if a family member of mine ended up committing a crime like this, i feel like i would probably also want to believe that they were somehow less culpable in order to keep myself sane, so i honestly can’t pass all that much judgement on her for doing the same.

a third angle.

in the jeffco fire department’s video walking through the crime scene, we’re shown this unique angle of where dylan & eric’s bodies were located—one taken from what would’ve been their left.
why is this important? well, as is commonly known, there were two photos leaked of their bodies post-massacre (which i will not be posting for obvious reasons), one from their right and one from in front of them—however, based on the video, i believe there’s actually another photo in the set that was taken from this angle, but never released—most likely because it’d be looking directly into eric’s skull.
yes, the first two photos were leaked by the press, but i highly doubt that the same will ever happen with the (hypothetical) third photo due to how much more graphic it would be.

in light of the latest “tcc cringe” video including a cropped screenshot of one of my posts, i’m gonna reiterate the message in my intro:
i think it’s obvious to state that i don’t condone the actions of dylan & eric—there is no excuse for what they did—but i’ll say it explicitly here anyways so there’s no question about it. i share source material & other information about the massacre for archival and commentary purposes only. the same goes for anything else i create around the subject—it isn’t an endorsement of senseless violence, but rather a personal expression of my thoughts and feelings surrounding this case. if you don’t respect this perspective or for some reason support the perpetrators, please block me—this is not a space for you.
the majority of y’all already know this, but i’m posting it again so nobody gets it twisted

along with these, eric also wrote out a list of movies in dylan’s 1998 yearbook, though it’s unclear exactly what the purpose of doing so was.

⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡
notable standouts
the lost highway — eric listed this movie as his favorite in a survey, and dylan mentioned it frequently in his journal—including repeatedly drawing a road stretching into the distance with street signs with “5” (a meaningful number to him) “666” or the everlasting contrast on them. additionally, he would add vanishing lines & the everlasting contrast to some of the heart drawings he did, in reference to the movie.

⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡
natural born killers — besides the obvious use of “NBK” by the two, some of dylan’s fashion seems to be inspired by mickey knox’s style—specifically the round glasses and single earring-combo. eric also referenced the line “do you believe in fate?” from the movie in dylan’s ‘98 yearbook.

⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡
the matrix — according to devon adams, she and dylan were supposed to go see the matrix in theaters on april 21, 1999. obviously, that didn’t end up occurring.
⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡
pulp fiction — dylan recreated a scene from the movie in a video made with eric jackson and dustin gorton, along with listening to the soundtrack (specifically flowers on the wall by the statler brothers and surf rider by the lively ones) in the “breakfast run” video filmed with nate.
⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡
resevoir dogs — dylan owned a shirt featuring characters from this film with the words “serial killer” on it. he’s seen wearing it in his 11th grade yearbook photo and in radioactive clothing.
