Tech and Envrionment: Can you imagine a horrible scenario where you get an alert about the pending electricity bill with a link and on clicking it, your bank account(s) get empty?
The exact case came to light in Delhi, India, in February, where a doctor lost around 300,000 rupees as he pursued the link of being curious.
The sender number claimed to be affiliated with BSES, the electricity provider in Delhi.
The victim reported to the police that the suspect had interfered with his WhatsApp account by sending offensive content and had turned call forwarding which prevented incoming calls.

Police asserted, “Unauthorised access was detected in the victim’s e-wallet and mutual fund folio accounts. His Aadhaar Card details were also tampered with”.
