Zong to cooperate with Pakistan’s IT Minister For 5G Launch in Pakistan

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque, on Tuesday, vowed to launch 5G technology in the country next year to cope with the challenges of the digital world. He was talking to Wang Hua, the CEO of Zong, who called on him here on Tuesday. Matters related to spectrum, 5G technology, connectivity, and the provision of quality telecom services were discussed during the meeting. Additional Secretary (Incharge) Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Mohsin Mushtaq was also present in the meeting. The IT minister said that the provision of broadband services across the country was the topmost priority of the Ministry of IT. He urged the telecom sector to upgrade its infrastructure to provide quality services to the masses, saying that all possible steps are being taken to resolve issues of cellular mobile operators. The IT minister said that to improve the quality of services, the telecom sector has to upgrade its infrastructure. He expressed his resolve to launch 5G technology next year to cope with the challenges of the digital world. Hascol’s CEO Arrested in Rs.54 Billion Scam

As the trial judge denied the approval of CEO Aqeel Ahmed Khan and others’ bail requests, Hascol Petroleum announced on Tuesday that its board had authorized Chief Financial Officer Amad Uddin to exercise authority as CEO. The CEO of Hascol Petroleum Limited (HPL), Aqeel Ahmed Khan, has been detained as a result of today’s Trial Judge’s decision to deny confirmation of bail applications from a number of individuals in the case of FIA Enquiry No. 127/2021, according to a statement from Sir Alan Duncan, Chairman of Hascol Petroleum Limited.  “While we are advised by the legal counsel representing the CEO that post-arrest bail should be granted, in the meantime, in order to operate the affairs of HASCOL, the board has authorized the CFO, Amad Uddin, to exercise the authority of the CEO until this issue is resolved or there is a further decision taken by the board,” the notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) added.   As part of its investigation into the alleged Rs 54 billion scam, the Federal Investigation Agency detained Mumtaz Hasan, founder of Hascol Petroleum Company, in January of last year. Then, an FIA statement stated that after pieces of evidence came to light in an inquiry into bank default, financial fraud, and money laundering of more than Rs54 billion by the Hascol Petroleum Company, the FIA Commercial Banking Circle had registered a case against 30 suspects, including former and current officers of the National Bank of Pakistan and Hascol, and one suspect had been arrested. Amazon Becomes first Company Ever to Lose $1 Trillion in Value

This week Amazon became the first public company ever to lose over $1 trillion in value. It earned this distinction when its market cap dipped to $879 billion on Wednesday, down from its peak of $1.88 trillion in July 2021, according to Bloomberg. By market close Friday, Amazon’s market cap had already perked back up, topping $1.02 trillion. But the record it set Wednesday will live on. Amazon isn’t the only company feeling the impact of a shaky economy and a return to life outside the home after the initial COVID-19 lockdowns. Microsoft’s market value peaked at around $2.5 trillion and sat at $1.84 trillion as of the market close Friday. Meta, formerly known as Facebook, reached just over $1 trillion in value in August 2021 and sat just under $300 billion as of market close Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 7% since the start of 2022 but has been lower at times this year. Other sectors are hurting too. Video game sales are expected to fall overall in 2022. Likewise, media streamers boomed in 2021, but giants like Netflix are looking for more revenue amid financial instability. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy recently launched a cost-cutting review of the company, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday. That apparently includes suspending or eliminating unprofitable projects and reassigning employees. PM Shehbaz Sharif Approves 150% Executive Allowance for Grade 17-22 Officers

The government on Monday notified the provision of the much-awaited 150 percent Executive Allowance for officers from Grade 17 to 22 working in the Federal Secretariat and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration. However, private secretaries have been deprived of the provision of a 150 percent Executive Allowance. There are around 200 private secretaries working in the higher grades who are now deprived of this additional allowance. If there are any objections to the name of EA, it can be changed. They have demanded the government to provide an additional allowance for them as well with effect from January 1, 2023. Initially, the government approved the provision of 150 percent EA for all employees of the federal secretariat but it was changed when it got notified as it was provided to only the powerful Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) and Office Management Group. All other officers belonging to the Economist Group, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting were deprived of this EA so they launched a protest campaign and started a pen-down strike.
