Hirogaru Sky Precure Review!
Finally review of Hirogaru Sky Precure! There won't be too many spoilers but I can't make any promises with that.
First off, I apologize for not being around so much. For a while I haven't been watching a whole lot of stuff so Precure has been the only thing besides Dragon Prince I had been seeing. Now, I've seen Hazbin Hotel and the new Avatar the Last Airbender live action series, so I'll review those later. That and I've been primary focused on art and story projects which is for the best anyway, but I still like to occasionally review things I find interesting. So reviews will be more so scattered once and while. So without further a due, let's begin with this review.
Hirogaru Sky is about Sora who comes from Skyland. She's training to be a hero and one day when she comes to the Kingdom of Skyland to complete her training and be one of the Azure Guards and become a hero. See, Captain Shalala rescued her once when she was little and that inspired to constantly train to become one, even at the risk of not having any friends. One day though, as she's coming to the kingdom, Princess Elle, the baby princess of the kingdom gets kidnapped and Sora tries to rescue her. She ends up on earth where she meets a girl named Mashiro and with the mysterious power Princess Elle (known as Elle-chan through out the series) has, Sora becomes Cure Sky, the first Blue Cure that's the main lead. Together with Mashiro who becomes Cure Prims, Tsubasa, a bird who can turn into a boy as Cure Wing, the first boy cure of the main team and Ageha, Mashiro's childhood friend and nursery school teacher in training as Cure Butterfly, the first official adult cure, they become Hirogaru (Hero Girl/Soaring) Sky Precure!
This series, I'm just gonna say right off the bat...is probably the best series to come out so far in a long time!
I know I tend say something along the lines of that, mainly because Kira Kira was such a disappointment to me at the time, though I do admit I might a bit too hard on Kira Kira at times. This honestly how I feel. The last series Delicious Party Precure kinda became boring for me after a while. The lore was okay, I liked Rosemary and how the male characters actually had important roles in that series which probably was what open the idea that male cures could really be a thing, but I didn't care for the other characters enough to be engaged with anything else. I even stopped watching for a while and just picked it back up afterwards once in a while because that's how much interest I was in it.
Hirogaru Sky surprised me with not only it's action but more so the laidback tone it has. It kinda focuses more so like a slice of life kinda series with action in it, than a standard Precure series, which you wouldn't expect from a series that's about "Hero Girls". I mean, don't get me wrong, there are slice of life moments in Precure but the main focus is fighting the evil thing and saving the kingdom. Here, we don't even know who the main villain is until the near end after a few generals defeated. The action stuff just comes as a climax to the end of each episode or almost each episode so the main focus is the life and times of these characters. They still do focus on important lore stuff but it's sprinkled in few and far between.
You would think this would make the series weaker but it honestly makes it unique and it works so well because the characters are so likeable and the pacing for the episodes are written for the most part pretty well.
Sora is not my favorite character. I guess for me it's the curse of the Blue Cures. I usually never find them as interesting or likeable but Sora isn't a bad character at all. I just think her friends are just a bit more interesting. She's honestly a good lead and fun to watch as she tries to understand the human world. It's not too over the top but goofy enough to enjoy. I'm also glad we finally got an athletic tomboy kinda girl as supposed to a very happy go lucky, girly girly that just happens to do sports well. It's what started the franchise after all with Nagisa/Cure Black, so it's nice they starred the first blue lead cure as an athletic tomboy as well.
Mashiro has got to be my favorite character in this and it's surprising because I didn't think I'd like her so much. She's very soft spoken but she's not exactly shy. She lacks confidence at first but she doesn't do it all the time to where it's a character trait. More so something that naturally happens with someone especially her age. She's kind but has her spicy moments and will even tell the general who's interrupting off (which is hilarious often that happens XD) and I overall love how she grows and develops. A prime example is when she gets her picture book she worked so hard on to make torn up by one of the generals as a desperate attempt to fall at the top general's better graces. Instead of believing his horrible words and being completely upset that her picture book got destroyed, she completely understands that the general is actually in grave danger of possibly being killed and wants to save him as she recognized that he was the one suffering the most. Which leads to what I will explain a little later.
Speaking of understanding characters that I didn't expect to like, Ageha would probably be next to Tsubasa for the second place of favorite characters. It's funny how when the first image of Cure Butterfly came out, most everyone including myself thought she was gonna be some diva with a snooty side. She can be one but that's not entirely the case and I'm glad. She wants to be the "Best Nursery School Teacher Ever" and to be that you gotta understand kids and boy does she understand kids! Not only full of energy but also patience and she stops to listen to what they want and need. She doesn't look down to kids (though somewhat with Tsubasa she does at least by calling him "boy" most of the time) and doesn't dismiss when a kid might be onto something important like most adults and even the other cures might. It's refreshing to see an adult character show this and it helps kids understand there are adults who will listen and it shows the importance of listening well listening to kids. Children may think stuff up but there are times where they do need to be taken into consideration especially if they're not known to make up stuff and lie.
When I found out that Cure Wing was gonna be a boy, I squealed so much I'm surprised my parents didn't come to see what was going on! I was sooo ecstatic to find out we were getting our first male cure to be a part of the team and I honestly was not disappointed when we finally got to meet Tsubasa! His debut as Cure Wing was amazing and again, I keep using this word but surprising! The fact he was willing to drop and fall to his doom just to help Elle-Chan escape was not what I was expecting and it was done so well! Then his debut came and went and it seemed like for a while he was pushed a side and became less interesting, partly due to Ageha.
Remember what I said that Ageha sorta looked down at Tsubasa somewhat? I feel like that's what happens. She calls him "Boy" instead of by his name which makes no sense to me. She calls the kids in the class she's training in by their names so why is Tsubasa any different? This leads to Tsubasa going from a very smart and very calm character to being really snippy and brass at times. I mean, he is a kid but he's not that much older than Sora and Mashiro. So I don't understand why Ageha treated him like that especially when she took some of the younger kids including Elle-Chan with a little more decency. Maybe she knew he needed to lighten up maybe but still she treated Mashiro and Sora with respect and decency to call them by their names.
When Ageha becomes Cure Butterfly, the dynamic becomes a little better. In fact, I became more interested in them as a duo than I was for Cure Sky and Cure Prims duo relationship. They got a good brother and sister dynamic and I like seeing how their friendship evolves. Tsubasa shines the best when the episode focuses on how smart he is such as his knowledge over air currents and different animals. It shows that while he is a kid, he's very smart and reliable. My favorite episodes are when they go to the vegetable garden with Yoyo and the airport episode where they help a lost girl.
Elle-Chan is pretty decent as a baby character. A lot of people are annoyed by her since she is a baby and they say she is pretty bland and I kinda agree/disagree. I like her as a baby and the few times we get her in grown form than I do as Cure Majesty. When she's Cure Majesty, it seems like she loses more personality. As Elle-Chan she does have a little more personality to her. I know that sounds weird, but hear me out.
Most of the time when we get a baby character, they don't grow. They just cry and well be a baby. They're not that aware of what goes on around them. Elle-Chan actually does grow. Now she doesn't learn her lessons like sharing and being friendly right away but she does come around. They show her growth in a tiny pace which feels more natural and she is more aware of what's going on around her, even to the point of wanting to help the people of Skyland during a dire need, even planning with the cures on how to brighten things up for her people.
Out of all the baby characters, she wasn't a bad one and was useful at times, not just because she's the power source and then a Cure but also just as herself and I liked that. Though, I do hope we don't get anymore babies for the cures to care for, least not for a long time. Much like everyone else, it does bother me they push that onto them.
Yoyo is a nice mentor character. She gives that nice wisdom to the Cures and it's interesting that she too is from Skyland and being Mashiro's grandmother, makes her Skyland decent! Which is really interesting!
Animation is great! I especially like the over the topic, almost cartoon super hero vibe when they do some of the punches! They did not mess around when giving us a fight scene!
Overall, Hirogaru Sky is an amazing addition and especially a great way to celebrate 20 years of Precure!
I give Hirogaru Sky Precure! 9 out of 10 Stars! Get excited! Put on your cape and give it a watch!

My Ranking of Pink Cures!
Please NOTE that this based on my personal opinion! If you disagree, that's fine! Don't come at me with pitchforks! This is just for funsies!
In the S Tier we have
Cure Blossom! She is so relatable and she was the first Cure to make me cry for her story! Like, I don't think we had a Lead Cure like her since then. She's this little nerdy girl that is down to earth, she's calm and casual! She's just a sweetheart and I love her!
Cure Flora! (I just flower girls I guess) Again, points for being a semi outcast that refuses to give up on her dreams even when faced with animosity. She's encouraging and best big sister to her little sister!
Cure Grace! I kinda kept going back and fourth between putting her in S tier or A tier. Ultimately, I find that her story that teaches kids to stand up against their abusers and that it's okay to refuse to help someone especially the ones that hurt you, that put her in the S tier. That and she's got a very cute and simple outfit. I love the jacket thing that the Healing Good Cures have. Her hair is very similar to Flora's but it's cute on her.
In the A Tier we have:
Cure Butterfly! I feel like she could have been S Tier for me and maybe I could make her one. The one thing that bugs me about her is that she doesn't called Tsubasa by his name most of the time. She calls him boy if not in Cure form. I get he's younger but like her students are much younger and she refers to them by name. Why not Tsubasa? It doesn't make sense but I still like her. She kinda reminds me of my big sister and I'm glad she wasn't a spoiled diva like we were expecting when we first saw her design! She understands kids for sure and notices right away when they're not comfortable so she makes it fun for them. I just wish she respected Tsubasa a little more as they are a cool duo in a sibling pair sense. Plus first adult cure! (Earth was just born out of whim. She doesn't count...)
2. Cure Bloom! I like her personality and her relationship with Egret more than Cure Black and Cure White's relationship (Not that said relationship is bad). Overall, they're a good fun protag.
3. Cure Melody! She's relatable and fun. That's about it. I don't have much to say about her. She kinda reminds me of me a little.
4. Cure Black! Again relatable. I'm glad we started this franchise with a tomboy! She wouldn't be the last but she's pretty decent character for the start of a long running franchise!
In B Tier we have:
Cure Precious! Yeah, I think she's overrated. She's okay as a lead cure and she's cute too! Love her hair and like how both nurturing and still athletic she is. I just think the others above her are much better in both personality and relatability. She kinda hits close to "Happy Go Lucky" as just her personality but there is more to her
Cure Wonderful! She's cute, playful and has the typical instincts of a dog. I think her design maybe cuter than Precious but growth and all, like it's fine for what it is but I feel like Iroha is more a lead than her.
Cure Yell! Again fine as a protag/lead but she gets into that territory of I can barely tell the difference between her and other happy go lucky leads... Not a big fan of her hair but I tend to cute my bangs too short too so I can't hound on her too much and there's worse designs on this list.
In C Tier we have:
Cure Dream! She's just there. That's really all there is to it. I think she gets hated for liking Coco a lot. I'll keep it short, it's never stated how old Coco is. We assume he's an adult cuz he's a teacher, but he has Milk as a nanny, he acts immature in fairy form and he doesn't change much appearance wise in Otona. For all we know, his human form just looks older than he is because dudes tend to look older than they are and he's a prince so maybe he completed all his education so that's why he's a teacher like Negima! Who knows. Either way, Dream is okay and personality wise is just he's okay much like the seasons she's in.
Cure Happy! She's just another Cure Dream. They could exchange places and no one would hardly notice.
Cure Lovely! I think she's hated on too much. I'm not gonna act like I don't get it. She is a bit of a Mary Sue being the only one that has to save the others in the end and clean up Blue's mess and she's a total blunder when it comes to her crush's feelings but I think she's just so likeable in personality wise. I just can't bring myself to hate her and she's from the season I absolutely hate!
Cure Miracle! (Nearly forgot her but the Tier list I used nearly forgot her too. I didn't make all the list but added Cures that were missing) She's okay. I like her designs and she's cute with her teddy bear and being childlike but there's not much to be said about her. Maybe Mirai Days will change that, who knows?
Cure Peach! Why she is here? I barely remember her! I will say the main reason she's not lower is simply because I did like how she never gave up on Cure Passion. Other than that, I don't remember her that much before that and even forget she's there.
In D Tier we have:
Cure Heart! Again I don't remember her that much. I just know she can't sing and that was humorous for about maybe a hot minute and she likes to help others but what lead cure doesn't?
Cure Whip! She's mainly on here because of her design and her voice is cute when she says "Whip". Other than that, another happy go lucky lead cure. She's not as bad as I made her out to be in my review of Kira Kira but she's not that strong of a lead.
Finally in F Tier we have: 1. Cure Star! Yeah, I liked her at first but after hearing her voice many times, especially when watching clips of her to figure out which one I would rank, it does get on my nerves a lot. Not to mention, I think she has the worst design of not just the pink cures but Precure in general. Like the only thing I like is the cherry blossom petals on her skirt but even that's confusing to me because nothing indicates in her theme or even name of why there would be flower petals and the top part is just weird. Her design is just ugly to me and she's just another happy go lucky cure. She likes space and is a bit of a nerd too which I will give her some credit but personality wise she doesn't stand out that much and her voice is again grating! Cure Whip has at least a cute design and her voice doesn't sound like nails on a chalkboard!
Again don't take this personally! This is just my opinion. You're not dumb or bad for liking my least favorites! We just like our own things!
Be Civil!

Commission business is dying.....
I'm having a severe financial trouble and my commission business is dying. I tried advertising my art from here to Tumblr, Twitter, and now Cara. And nothing seems to be working out well..... I don't know what else should I do other than trying to get a job. Could I just try to use Patreon site or create a Ko-Fi account in hopes to keep my commission business alive? I'm really having a hard time this month.

While I'm for sharing links to help people in Gaza, please note DO NOT SHAME PEOPLE FOR NOT POSTING OR SHARING LINKS!
I get so tired of this! "If you don't share this! You're a horrible person! Stop ignoring! Your silence is disturbing! How can you sleep at night!?"
If you say this, I'm sorry but it just makes you look like you're doing this for an ego trip!
I won't share links that say have brutal images like people hurt, dead or burn on my page, you know why? Because I have young kids that follow me and I have people who are sensitive to that and I'M sensitive to such images as well. Anything that's gory I won't share because my blog is family friendly and friendly to those with sensitivities and I rather keep it that way. I can hear someone say "Put warning tags" and some people may not see those and that's not even the point.
Shaming on people for seemingly "ignoring" or not posting about it isn't helping people either! It just makes you look like a jerk trying to look better than everyone else. Whatever the reason why people don't post or share certain things, is not an excuse to judge and make nasty comments towards people. You're not getting any closer to helping people. Just share the link to people who will share and donate and move on!
I especially won't share links if I see the post saying anything along the lines of "If you don't share/donate you're a bad person" That will make me instantly block you! It's childish and petty.
People have their reasons to not share or post things. Whether it's for an understandable reason (Sensitivity issue, child friendly blog, ect) or for more selfish reasons, shaming on others is just as bad as the silence. It doesn't encourage people to help. No one needs to be guilt trip to help. That's more of a manipulation tactic if anything. Be encouraging and be kind because that's what people need more of right now.

Honestly, I agree! I didn't think that much of him when Dune came out but seeing how he is behind the scenes and the Wonka trailer, I can tell he's having a blast yet is passionate with what he does.
I hope he stays in that light and continues to walk in that light and when I mean by that, I mean he stays kind and humble yet passionate for his craft as he is now. Yes, many slam on him but I know there's many that look up to him. He's gonna inspire many in a beautiful way. That I already admire him.

As a result of the Wonka trailer, I have begun to read on social networks that people are tired of seeing Chalamet everywhere, image exhaustion, some say, and there are malicious comments from those who do not feel sympathy for him and say that he is overrated. I can understand that for some Timothée is just another fashionable actor, one of many, but failing to recognize his talent, his hard work to get where he is and his connection with the public, is simply being petty.

Quick Review of Hirogaru Sky Precure! CURE WING IS EVERYTHING!
As said, with Tumblr being a butt with allowing my reviews to show up in tags, I haven't done much reviews. I've been writing the review for Delicious Party Precure. I've just been super busy with other things and my anxiety had been for a while so haven't been in the mood but now with Cure Wing out, I feel like I should give my thoughts on the new series so far!
I feel like this has been a solid series so far. At first, I wasn't too won over in the first episode, even though Cure Sky/Sora is a power house and I relate to her in some ways, I wasn't buying it too much until we dove into more of Mashiro/Cure Prims, who up until now I gravitated towards but now that we have the BOY, wow!
Please note, I haven't watched episode 9 yet but I did see Cure Wing's transformation and attack and it is everything!
But before that, there are some stuff I wanted to get to. I like how this series as Leo from Magical Cinnamon Channel on Youtube has said, connects everything very neatly. Like how in episode 8 Mashiro explains that the kids were worried about Sora because she wasn't at school and everyone knows she's healthy and strong. I like how they try to give us a few twists and turns with certain scenarios we maybe familiar with. Like for one, our lead cure is not only a blue cure instead of a pink cure, but she's from another land and Mashiro is a Skylandian as well or at least descendant from one. We have a fairy turned cure that not only isn't the midseason cure but he's also the first male cure of the main team.
The animation is probably the best animation we've seen since probably in a while. I didn't hate Delicious Party Precure nor Healin Good Precure but in terms of animation, they really brought their A game with this one!
Sora I like okay, but maybe that's because she reminds me a bit of me that I think I don't gravitate to her as much. I mean, something about characters reminding me of myself too much has always been something off to me but I don't find her a bad character and she certainly is more interesting than any blue cure that came before her.
Mashiro is a great foil to Sora. She's not really the shy cute type and that's what makes her a great character. She seems one thing but she's also energetic without being a "Happy Go Lucky Type" or a "Shy Type". I like how she's logical too. She has common sense and brings everyone back down to earth!
Yoyo is also a nice little add as the mysterious grandmother but I'm glad she's doesn't know everything. I wasn't sure how I felt with her seemingly to know everything but when she shows legit concern, it comes across as natural and I started to like her more.
Ageha, I wasn't too sure of but she grew on me and I like the fact that she's kind of diva in which she can be bossy, but she's also understanding, supportive and ready to help. I was worried that she was gonna be another snob when we first got a look at her as Cure Butterfly but she's not and I'm glad.
And then of course, we have Tsubasa and he is everything! He's sweet, he's smart, he's shy but knows when it's time to speak up. He has a dream that is relatable in which wanting to achieve something but people make fun of you for it, but I like how his dream is a little more on the down to earth side. Not that we didn't have cures with realistic dreams, but I like how he actually learns a bit of the science about how to fly. I feel like we've seen cures achieve dreams but not really explain the details about those dreams like the overall work put in it. Maybe we have and I just don't remember.
I hate the fact people make fun of Tsubasa's hair! Like seriously! I honestly think it makes him look unique. The hair piece on top makes sense especially considering some birds have feathered crowns which seems to represent that in Cure Wing! I also think the emo thing makes him look different and honestly, may represent him as a character. I mean most people who do the emo thing are outcasts and he certainly is that among his tribe, he's the only fairy so far in his season to transform and most of all, he's the first male cure of a main team and the only boy in his group. I even think that his hair may even represent a "broken wing" because he felt useless not being able to fly, only for "his wing to be repaired" once he becomes Cure Wing, this that part of his hair goes up when he transforms.
Elle Chan is okay. She's a baby and not much to her but I did get get misty eyed when she was missing her parents.
Now the I wouldn't say bad parts but yeah I don't like Kabaton. I think they were trying to do a "Close" type thing but make him more goofy so he didn't scare kids and he just doesn't do it for me. If you like him and many do, more power to you. I guess it makes sense cuz I thought he was saying "Underdog energy" when I realize he means "Under ground energy". So pigs are earthy creatures and he's an underdog because he's a punk but yeah...Not the best. I do like it when the cures literally tell him to shut up and stop hogging the screen time, that self awareness is beautiful! XD
Overall, I think this series is solid so far and may join the ranks among the best precure seasons if continues working like this. The animation is beautiful and stellar, sometimes the story is slow in some parts but overall, the music is solid and the characters are well likeable with the exception of a weak first henchman. I won't give it a rating just yet! We'll see how it goes!

“What bothers me about Winx fandom and nostalgia is that the same people who were (rightfully) criticizing the moronic Butterflix dance, suddenly get defensive on ANYTHING negatively said about those unnecessary “fairy dust” scenes with Winx drawing symbols “how dare you, these scenes are iconic!!11” I DON’T CARE.
Butterflix Dance and FairyDust scene are THE SAME FILLER SCENES that give nothing to the plot!! Heck, I could say that about the awful Sirenix 2D.”

Tropical Rouge Precure Review
I'm going to start putting my reviews on my Deviantart page because it seems like tags on tumblr aren't working very well. Sometimes they do but other times no. I have several fellow bloggers who also have been having this problem. Until they finally fix it, you can find my review here.
