in honor of prom season i’m thinking about the absolute robbery it was not having lane and rory in pretty little dresses. their cute little boyfriends going with them, the perfect little y2k prom that was in every show/movie at that time (can you tell i romanticize prom in films because i was ‘too cool’ to go to any of my own? … i still don’t regret it).

i think it would’ve been nice to have one final rory and jess scene where it shows genuinely how much he cared for her. he’s doing something he’s uncomfortable with for her sake. she’s got him **kind of** slow dancing in a crowd of people he hates in a button up. ugh. prom jess please come back. but MORE importantly, i’m thinking about what rory would’ve worn duh.

haven’t duhed in awhile…. anyways. they always incorporated blue in her wardrobe for events. because of course, that perfect icy blue looks killer on the gilmore girls. even made it sookie’s bridesmaid dress colors just for that sake. so it’s safe to say that’s the color she went with.

heading to pinterest, these were some of the first blue dresses i found in style at the time. the second one isn’t exactly her favorite blue shade and both of them have beading. that trend feels a little too ‘cool’ for rory.

now, i would’ve really liked to see rory in a classic audrey hepburn style neckline. but she was a teenager going to prom, so i’m not gonna plea with her to play 60s mod girl.

skipping to dresses that i actually think she’d like:

i noticed in gg that rory never really wore tight fitting/revealing clothing (ever) until after graduation. which was pretty different than the trend at the time (and probably forever for teenagers). but as she graduated chilton, she slowly started growing out of her teen t-shirt phase (i am still in my t-shirt phase, do not think i’m hating). rory AND jess both wore purple during that scene where she’s scolding him in his cute little jean jacket. this purple dress could definitely be a nod to that. and even though it’s not her typical blue, i think it would be a really pretty change. also her long layered hair was so pretty in season 3, it would’ve looked so good with this dress.

now, out of the three blue dresses selected, i think the second one is giving stars hollow high prom. however it’s also reminding me of lorelai’s dress in season 5. do with that what you will. i think this could be a cool nod that she’s becoming more like her mom as she grows up. but it’s also her indulging in trend at the time, while remaining her authentic self. i’m totally overthinking this.

regarding lane, i’m still on the fence what she’d make possible. would she have a secret dress from mrs kim? or would she actually like what mrs kim allowed her to wear? would lorelai sew her something and hide it in the school bathroom? i don’t know yet. maybe we’ll get into that another time.

it’s insane to me that rory almost always had a suitor just there and ready at the right time. a good (take good VERY LOOSELY) guy who genuinely liked her (in general, without digging too deep). wish we saw more of the smiths guy who dissed her in the laundry room or that bad date she called lorelai on. it’s crazy to think that she was almost always just with a boyfriend and it wasn’t just a situationship/fling or a failed something. i’d killl to see her having a fling with one of richard’s associates (obviously much younger) or maybe a relationship she was really into but he wasn’t, in the later seasons. i know she’s a relationship kinda girl, but everyone needs a little experimenting. i can just imagine her continuing to sleep with a guy after saying she wouldn’t. but she couldn’t stop going back to him. UGHHHH, WRITERS WHYYY!!!! WE COULD’VE HAD SOMETHING SO GOOD!!!!! anything instead of her and dean’s little rekindle crisis.

why the hell does lorelai ass-kiss christopher so goddamn much? i’m rewatching season 2 for the first time in a few years and on ‘presenting lorelai gilmore.’ christopher literally bought rory a goddamn book he already PROMISED to get her and lorelai’s all “oooohhhh wow that was a really good thing of you to do” then he shows up for one event for her and she’s “giving him credit, he’s such a good guy, blah blah.” he’s never showed up for rory. he shows up ONCE, buys her a book, and suddenly he’s the greatest man to walk the earth???? s2 ep5/6 lorelai is so fucking insufferable i’m SORRY.

get ready for a too thought out answer! i really wanted to be rory growing up. the first three seasons i was convinced i could be rory. not even kidding when i say i used to think “huh what would she wear?” in the mornings. even bought the damn cable sweater. i think the older i get the more i come to terms with who i actually am as i understand myself more and more. the answer is: jess. not only am i sickly and biblically in love with the man, but i AM the man. not going to get too personal on here but the trauma and deep feelings is a little too relatable. i felt and lived him yelling at his father he had no one and nowhere to go. when people call out jess’s sometimes shitty behavior, i get a little too offended and that’s not only because i want to protect him with my life, but because i feel called out. on a lighter note, we definitely have the same music taste **and** wit. which is where lorelai comes in, who is definitely my rising. every uncharismatic thing lorelai has done, i have also done. but at the end of the day i am just jess eating an egg roll.

as for mi’s films… damn you guys, i gotta be honest. i haven’t seen every single one because i’d like to keep my eyes! his shit films don’t help with that. however, i have seen HIS SCENES in most of them. by far my favorite project of his is that’s my boy. you can give me all the shit for it but it’s genuinely one of the funniest sandler movies. can honestly say i prefer it to some of his bigger ones like the wedding singer or 50 first dates. how TMB gets hated on so much is beyond me. i’ve rewatched it way too many times to count (probably already twice this year). even made my dad watch it with me and he said it was top 5 sandman films (he’s the #1 sandler fan).

THE WORST OF THE WORST GG SHIPS.

+ 1. rogan. this is definitely a controversial take, which is what i’ve done for just about my whole life so i’m ready! logan and rory are probably the best and worst relationship in the show. it doesn’t make any fucking sense, i know. they seemed the healthiest at times but in general i’ve never been able to get behind them. even when wee 13 year old me watched it for the first time. logan brings out the worst in rory. he doesn’t challenge her, he makes her feel like she needs to settle, and encourages her departure from yale. he just never understood her in my eyes. he never got the driven girl or respected her. they were turning into what rory never wanted to be. and oh yeah, logan’s a dick.

+ 2. paris/francie. who the fuck wrote that fan fiction? this is why i fear AO3. okay but the tension was there, the competitiveness was there. i digress, PARISANDFRANCIE4LIFE.

+ 3. balcony buddies. JUST BECAUSE YOU PROCREATE WITH SOMEONE DOES NOT MEAN YOU NEED TO BE WITH THEM. lorelai’s age regressed ass needed to stop going back to her first fuck. and that’s the truth. side note: christopher only playing daddy when he wanted to go back to lorelai??? how did they never comprehend that???

+ 4. rory/dean. do rory and dean not have a ship name? why could i not think of anything? anyways, the only reason i didn’t rant about my amish haircuted boy first is because as BAD as it was, it was kind of sweet in the beginning. as the number one dean hater, i hate saying this. dean was the WORST. and anyone who supports a man who cheats on his wife and gets mad at her, can unkindly leave my class. the door is open bitch! butttt before the donna reed, before the **madness**, they were kind of sweet. for like maybe two episodes. he was a cute first crush that brought out something other than academics for her. but if they wouldn’t have gotten back together the first time (or the second time) i might genuinely enjoy their innocent first relationship.

+ 5. max/lorelai. um. the man proposed mid argument a couple months into their relationship. not sure what else to say except he and lorelai just didn’t fit. you knew they weren’t going to last. there wasn’t one scene they had where i was sure of it my first time watching. maybe they could’ve much later on if lorelai had matured (which obviously she didn’t, thanks ASP).
