You're looking at someone who says "I'm a warlock" and panicking because you genuinely think they're communing with an evil force from beyond this realm, and not just being a nerd on the internet.

Basically I'm saying you're the same people who think D&D is satanic, or that pokemon is satanic, or that violent video games cause real life violence.

honestly, especially in the current state of the world, you all have GOT to kill whatever puritanical voice inside your head keeps insisting that if something is erotic it has no social, artistic, or intellectual merit.

stop acting as if someone can’t enjoy both erotica and literary fiction or classics. it’s not some dichotomy.

stop acting as if erotic art can’t be poignant and meaningful. and that includes all erotic art - not just fine art.

to like, explain my gripes about Genderfuck Rep and Femboy Characters to a transmasculine person, like. i want you to think about the movie Mulan. i want you to imagine if the story was not focused on Mulan herself, but that the protagonist was Li Shang. i want you to imagine that the scene where he discovers Mulan's AGAB, the focus was not on the danger and shame Mulan feels, but on Li Shang's anger and disgust, with the assumption that you too should be angered and disgusted by an AFAB person trying to pass as male. imagine watching it as a child- would you maybe feel unsafe? threatened?

now i want you to imagine if the primary cultural impact of that movie, and of Mulan's character, was 1. jokes about how gross and surprising and taboo it woupd be to find out someone you thought was a guy "was actually a woman", 2. people drawing Mulan as a Tomboy Girlfriend Sex Object, and 3. the best you get, which is people affirming that Mulan is 100% definitely a woman and she's like her because shes such a woman who wants to wear pants. (or even trans women talking about how she has to hide her womanhood)

and imagine if there was like, one of these characters in every animated kids movie between 1980 and 2010, half of anime, and not to mention scenes like this explicitly about transmasculine people in every crime drama and all over horror film.

and hell, even then i think Mulan's relationship to transmasculinity is looser than most of these characters who are lauded as GNC Icons to transfeminity. and i really cant convey the experience of how constant and everywhere it all is.

Tbh not knowing anything about what feminizing hrt does in my opinion also betrays just a lack of knowledge on what estrogen does during puberty. Like hey if you didn’t know that feminizing hrt doesn’t affect the vocal chords what else do you not know about like, women in general

Lines of thought that seem Normal but are actually rooted in extreme puritanism:

-Seeing the nude human body is inherently traumatic -Sex scenes in art are pointless -Wearing kink-related clothing in public is the similar to performing a sex scene in front of unwilling participants -Depicting female characters expressing sexuality is always degrading -People's sexual fantasies are always an endorsement of the behavior they want to see in real life -Sex work is more traumatic and coercive than other types of work The goal is to treat sex as just another thing people do. That is a much healthier attitude than hiding it! It's not uniquely traumatic, it's not weird to talk about it or include it in society.
