Lots of things still remind me of bad buddy, but a few specific things

Bets, deals and fist bumps - in dramas, in real life, I always think oooh we are patpraning here haha

Annnd also seaweed snacks. It's when I understood Pran was a true freak and I love him for it.

It's a cruel thing to make me choose a single thing because this show has consumed me entirely and made itself home in every neuron in my brain. Random things remind me of bad buddy out of nowhere. Like recently I saw something related to Pokemon I thought PatPran might have competed on who could memorize more Pokemons.

But if I had to choose one I'd pick Beaches.

I've never been to one but every time someone mentions it I remember our boys playing in water

Or sitting side by side in comfortable silence

And the whole ep 11 made bad buddy and beaches inseperable to me. So every time someone mentions beaches I'm back thinking about these two away from everything, where they can be themselves for a while and not having to constantly watch their backs.

Lmao this seems more like a rant 😂

Oh boy.... for the longest time, almost anything and everything would make me immediately jump to Bad Buddy, but these days my brain has calmed down, at least somewhat.

Now I'd say the most likely thing to get me swept up in it again would be: rooftops

Yeah I'm predictable as fuck but any time I see a rooftop scene, my head is right back here:

oh so many things but if i have to pick I’d have to say pran’s scent. let me explain…elaborate—extrapolate if u will: i have the cologne that pran’s scent is based on. it’s honestly one of my signature scents and i get So Many compliments on it—highly recommend. It’s the Kiehl’s cologne for anyone wondering, Director Aof tweeted about it years ago when the show was first released 🥹

i always think of them when i wear it, particularly the scenes where pat can’t stop himself from sniffing pran just a lil bit more (which is also the case irl btw). the scene where they hide in the music store from chai and have the forced proximity that makes pat question what detergent pran uses…yeah that.

Bad Buddy tag game

The question is: What reminds me of Bad Buddy?

I have to say my reminders of BBS are pretty mundane. Basically, any time I see Ohm Pawat or Nanon - thank goodness we have at least one actor who doesn't share a nickname with any other actor, so I don't have to disambiguate - in a series, I compare their performance in that series to their performance in Bad Buddy, the first series I saw either of them in. It's definitely a thing for me that I love to see actors who I like doing different kinds of work in different series.

I would have thought I would think of Bad Buddy every time I have Kanom Thong Yodd, but thinking on it, no, I don't. And I've had it several times. I just think about its delightful sweetness. I think it doesn't trigger Bad Buddy vibes because I had it for the first time before I saw Bad Buddy for the first time. It's more that seeing it in Bad Buddy reminded me of the last time I had it (as of when I watched that episode). But now that you've asked, perhaps I will think of Bad Buddy when I have it in the future. Which might be today.

I've seen Ohm in:

Bad Buddy (duh)

He's Coming to Me (delightful)

Vice Versa (just barely)

Our Skyy 2 (does this count? It's the same role)

10 Years Ticket (hard to take early on, ultimately rewarding)

Kidnap (doesn't stand out for me)

I've seen Nanon in:

Bad Buddy (again, duh)

55:15 Never Too Late (a masterpiece performance, highly recommended)

Midnight Museum (small part, but wild)

Our Skyy 2 (same note as for Ohm)

I Love a Lot of You (very different performance, but not enough to keep me interested in the series)

BAD BUDDY EPISODE 3 – THE WORLD'S ONE AND ONLY HANDSOME PICK

OMG, I can't believe I never noticed it before... 🤦‍♂️

I'm sure others have pointed this out in ages past, but this scene of Pat cutting up his student ID card and handing it to Pran to replace his missing guitar pick isn't just telling us how he is always giving of himself, especially for Pran.

The fact that Pat destroys his ID card is absolutely foreshadowing how he will go on later, out of his own free will, to dismantle his very sense of self, image and identity as a super-macho mini-Ming, bitterest enemy of the Siridechawats next door (molded since birth by Ming himself) – sacrificing and also reinventing himself, on his own terms, and all for his beloved Pran.

Bad Buddy – it would've made growing up in my teen years, growing into my own identity and the process of self-discovery and self-acceptance so much easier.
