I think it’s so funny that utena has literally no idea why anyone in the black rose arc got turned into a duelist. my predictions for the future of the weird route: things will only get worse and worse for us kriselle shippers. whether you believe in [a certain metaphor] being intentional or not, this route is clearly exploring types of abuse and toxic relationships. oddly, noelle thanks kris, or rather the player, when you choose to imagine her, even looking forward to going to the festival with kris according to carol. whether a result of the trance or not, this seems to be a good indicator of what is to come for their relationship. additionally, i think we are beyond the point of no return after chapter 4, as indicated by the distressing melody that plays after the [formerly] wilting rose scene. in chapter 5, we will almost certainly go to the festival with noelle, and likely noelle alone. i am unsure of where susie will be, but i cant imagine her thinking noelle is acting normal. there are two possibilities, either the weird route for chapter 5 ends after the festival, or noelle follows us into flower king in both routes, as i cant imagine toby diverging the story so heavily that noelle follows us into a dark world in one route where she is absent in another. if i recall correctly, i believe the icon for chapter 5 was smaller than chapter 2 in the spamton sweepstakes, so i am leaning towards the weird route ending after the festival. now, to look beyond chapter 5. i think bad things will happen to our main party. if the shadow mantle quest, the same quest that follows the storyline of the weird route, is any indicator, we will enter a fight with susie and ralsei. i cant see toby making us kill them, unlike the events of game quest, though. ultimately i think a conflict with susie and ralsei is inevitable, though, especially with ralsei flat out telling the player going to the festival with noelle is a bad idea on the weird route. as indicated by toby himself, i believe the ending will remain the same, however, i think the weird route will give us new information that recontextualizes everything. ultimately, i have no real idea what will happen, as i thought i had a good idea of what chapters 3 and 4 would be, and toby threw a complete curveball for both. as a sidenote, i wanted to illuminate my initial prediction for what i thought the weird route would be when i first completed it. i thought that the roaring would happen regardless of ending, and that the weird route would be a way to create strong enough party members to kill titans. this was also under the impression that there would be a toriel weird route, in which we killed undyne, which of course did not happen at all, which is honestly a good thing. it turns out titans are a lot weaker than i thought, if just kris, susie, and ralsei (and gerson) can beat one.
