Didi Derriere - Burlesque Idol 2015
We thought it was about time you met our newest Burlesque Idol Queen! Ladies and Gentlemen... DIDI DERRIERE!!
Didi’s winning moment at Burlesque Idol Final 2015 at The Hippodrome Casino
Hi Didi CONGRATULATIONS! How does it feel to be our Burlesque Idol winner 2015?
It feels quite surreal to have won Burlesque Idol. It was only 6 months ago that I decided to really go for it with Burlesque and so I wrote a few goals down for the year, one of which was to enter the competition, let alone win it! I'm absolutely loving my burly journey so far and feel proud to be this years Burlesque Idol winner.
What is your favourite memory from the night of the final?
My favourite memory would have to be when I walked out onstage at the beginning of my act and I immediately felt the amazing electric energy coming from all my friends and family who were there to support me. It's very rare to have so many supporters in the audience and it made all the difference to my performance.
What do you think it was that won over the audience and judges?
I think that the track I use for my act is very audience friendly as the suggestive lyrics and constant changing of tempo invite them to get involved. I think that this automatically created a relationship with the crowd which allowed me to relax into my character and dominate my performance.
Didi on stage at Burlesque Idol Final 2015 at The Hippodrome Casino
So, tell us how did you choose your Burlesque name?
I remember sitting in the pub with my friend Molly trying to decide on my burly name. She thought I should base it around my best asset which I've always been told is my bum . So we came up with Derriere, and tried to think of a name beginning with D that would sound good with it. Didi seemed to fit the best.
What was the inspiration for your winning act?
"Bring on the men" is the third act that I've created. Upon deciding that i wanted to create a new act I began researching and watching lots of burlesque performers on Youtube for inspiration. I knew I wanted this act to raise my game and be my best act yet. I remember being fixated with Beau Rocks' Act "sooner or later" and the character she portrayed. Once I'd found the track that I felt best fit the vision in my head, I started to choreograph and rest is history!
What advice would you give to anyone thinking about entering Burlesque Idol?
DO IT! I've absolutely thoroughly enjoyed every step of the competition and I would urge anyone who is thinking of entering to do so. You'll have so much fun!

What's next for Didi Derriere?
My next Act is processing through my thoughts as we speak, but in the mean time I plan to perform as much as possible and meet as many new people as possible, I'd also love to have the opportunity to travel and perform abroad. Keep your eyes peeled for the launch of my new calendar in collaboration with V's Anchor Studio and What Katie Did!
Thanks Didi, We can’t wait to see what you get up to next!

Burlesque Idol - Sh!
Our final Burlesque Idol Sponsor is the Wonderful Sh! Womens Erotic Emporium. We thought we would have a little chat with Renee to tell us more! Renée is the Award Winning Store Manager (ETO Magazine 2014 & 2015) and in-house sexuality educator at female-focused sex shop Sh!. She has her fingers in many pies and spends her days talking about G-spots, P-spots and any other spots found in nether regions. When she is not selling sex toys to the women & couples of Hoxton, she can be found teaching erotic classes in and around London. Always the top, never the bottom, Renée regularly teaches spanking classes at Sh! and will share her top tips & tricks for a heady, sensual experience. Amongst the plethora of erotic classes offered at Sh!, the mightily popular Blow His Mind class sells out weeks in advance and is rated by Time Out magazine as “high-end head”.Renée writes a regular column, Behind the Counter, for Erotic Trade Only magazine.

Hi Renee - Tell us a little more about Sh!, When did you begin?
Sh! opened its doors in April 1992, as a much-needed anti-dote to the sex shops of that time. The shops were solely focused on male sexuality and the only women around were of the blown-up variety.
Ky, Founder & MD, believed she could do better, but she had no idea it would alter the face of the British sex industry forever. Sh! has inspired change, and brings respect & focus to female sexuality.
Sh! was the UK's first sex shop for women, and it was also the first-ever boutique-style erotic shop. We are located in Hoxton Square in East London. The shop is welcoming and relaxed; staff is all-female, very friendly and trained to give personalised advice. And – everyone gets a cup of tea!
What is your favourite Sh! Item?
The Sh! silicone love balls are my favourite – they're great for toning the pc muscle (let's be honest - how many of you do your squeezes regularly? Adding a pair of love balls can make it so much more fun!), and they're great fun to use as a sex toy too!

How did you become involved with House of Burlesque?
Wow – I need to have a think about that! We met Tempest Rose and Delores Deluxe when they performed as The Kitten Club many years ago - we were in awe of these feisty females!
They both joined us for the launch of our shop in West London, and Tempest Rose gave a very memorable performance - without music. To my horror, our sound system died just as she was about to shake her thang… But – she worked with it and just carried on. Amazing!
We stayed in touch, and she contacted us to see if we’d be interested in gifting the winner of Burlesque Idol 2014 with a thrilling gift… We said yes, of course
Can you give us a little clue as to what our Burlesque Idol winner will be winning from you?
Ooh… That may have to remain a secret for now, but it’ll definitely be something that the winner can enjoy in peace & quiet after all the hard work of winning the title… *wink*

Where can we find you if we'd like to come and treat ourselves?
You can visit the store at 57 Hoxton Square, N1 6PB or shop online at www.sh-womenstore.com.
Do you have any exciting news or events coming up?
We always have lots of fun things going on at the shop: keep an eye on our erotic classes and the Sh! blog for updates. We'll be at Sexpo in November, so come join us for a free class if you are there!
Thanks Renee! We’re so jealous of our eventual winner! What a lucky lady! You can of course keep up with Renée and the rest of Team Sh! on all your favourite social media channels:

June - Monthly Round Up
Hello July!! June has gone in a flash and now we’re in full scorching summer mode! But what if you've missed out on some of the biggest and best HOB news? Well this is your chance to catch up... June, what did you bring us??

First up was the launch of our brand new Friday night residency at the gorgeous Electric Carousel. Our launch night went down a storm with plenty of HOB friends in the audience cheering on some of our favourite performers in true glamorous fashion. Burlesque Stars Lolo Brow, Luna Peach, CoCo Nobel, Leonie Soprano, Trixie Kixx and Gracie Disgrace graced the stage with some truly gorgeous acts. You can see all of the images from the night on our Facebook!
We’ll be hitting The Electric Carousel on the second Friday of every month with HOB - Boudoir (the perfect name for such a venue, we think) and on the last Friday of the month with all new Burlesque Idol.
Speaking of Burlesque Idol... We have a new finalist don’t you know. Friday 26th June bought yet another glorious array of Burlesque beauties to the stage of The Electric Carousel. It was a tough night, and very close but first place and taking our next spot in our November Finale was Helene De Joie, who performed a scintillating ‘Cat People’ inspired routine. Special mention, also has to go to our runner up Imelda Poppins who’s ‘Bakerloo Line’ routine had us in stitches. Also thanks to guest judge Madame Galina who always really gets the crowd going!

Helene De Joie’s Winning moment at Burlesque Idol June 2015
While we’re on the subject of the Electric Carousel, the month of June also brought with it an all new Photoshoot at our new home with the amazing Zoe Hunn. We got some amazing shots of Tempest and the House of Burlesque Belles all looking amazing in shots inspired by our Straight Up show all wearing pices by our wonderful sponsors, Little Black Pants Club, Betty Noire, House of Ivory and of course Kiss me Deadly!

Next up...Straight Up! We’ve performed two more shows this month of this years London Wonderground show. And we all seem to be really starting to thoroughly enjoyi this years show! We even welcomed a few guests to our shows throughout June. Folly Mixture Ella Boo stepped in to play the part of our Vodka Ice Queen on our 11th June show while Bad News Baby took on the role of stage manager on our 25th June show. Both did a fabulous job!

Straight Up has tons more dates for you to catch this fabulous show! Tickets and More info can be found HERE!
Throughout June we also (very excitingly) announced our next upcoming academy dates which are all starting up again with our beginners course in September... More dates to come so keep your eyes peeled!!
The month ended in true summer style with the hottest day of the year and the return of Shipwrecked! We were lucky enough to bring Shipwrecked to the Hippodrome Casino on 1st July. The Hippodrome is one of the most gorgeous cabaret spaces in London and suited the show beautifully. Shipwrecked has been revamped with brand new solo’s from Gracie Disgrace and Trixie Kixx and with the addition of Amber Topaz in board too it was an epic show! We’re back again on 5th August and 3rd September too! Don’t miss your chance to spice up your summer with a tropical Burlesque extravaganza!
