Minecraft was YouTube's Second-most Popular Search Query In 2022.
Mojang's breakout smash Minecraft came in second place on Google's list of the most popular YouTube search queries of 2014. The game ranked right ahead of "music" in terms of the frequency of searches.
According to Google the term "Minecraft" was more frequently searched on YouTube in 2014 than "movies." Gaming celebrity PewDiePie also ranked among the service's most popular searches in 2014, lagging queries for Disney's Frozen as well as for musicians Drake and Beyonce.
Google reports that user searches and engagement with gaming-related content are on the rise, even though many surveyed users don't necessarily identify as gamers. YouTube videos in the "Gamingcategory were listed in the top 10 most popular list of Google Search on a variety of days in October 2014.
According to the report it was revealed that the report states that a Google Consumer Survey was conducted in October 2014 with people who claimed they watched gaming videos on YouTube. It found that only 37% of respondents consider themselves gamers. "When asked about their motives for watching gaming videos, viewers mentioned 'entertainment' and 'humor frequently, but also mentioned 'learning new strategies' or 'game tips'.'"
The report continues: "We also wanted out the reasons why people watched videos from creators like SkyDoesMinecraft and PewDiePie. Many of them replied, 'Because they're hilarious! Minecraft usernames Some even compared these videos to stand-up comedy. One of the game's upcoming creators summed up his interest by using the following analogy: "You don't need to play soccer to enjoy TV."
