i know this is like the very premise of the entire show but does anyone else ever get horribly ill about how splinter and the turtles were like. supposed to be pets
like they were supposed to have such simple lives bro. Splinter was a rat enjoying life in Japan and the turtles were gonna get carried home in a jar. but there were such inconceivably large powers at play that it was necessary for little baby turtles and an old rat to become some of the most spiritually powerful creatures on earth. and because Splinter had been taught kindness and honor he taught his kids kindness and honor and then they lived by that code so hard they managed to befriend anything from superheroes to cryptids to aliens and then they stopped several different potential apocalypses from happening. is anyone else sick about this

Okay, how many damn crossovers/collabs are there for TMNT at this point?
Pretty much every major iteration with the exception of Rise has done a crossover with Usagi Yojimbo
The 2003 series had multiple crossovers with Planet Racers, another comic that Peter Laird and Jim Lawson penned
Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa has also cameo'd/done multiple crossovers with TMNT (understandable, as Ryan Brown, its creator, also worked at Mirage Studios as a staff artist and is responsible for the character/toy designs of... oh goodness.)
They've had plenty with Batman in the comics, to say nothing of the 2019 animated movie (WHERE IS THE DAMN SEQUEL?)
The Image comics had one with Savage Dragon (which included Michelangelo/Sara Hill AKA Horridus as an official crossover ship)
While there's never been a proper crossover per say, the turtles did cameo a few times early on in the Archie run of Sonic the Hedgehog
Wait, if we do treat the "Fight for the FoxBox" dvd as an actual crossover, then not only were they trying to save the FoxBox with Sonic, but also Cubix, Kirby, and Kid Muscle, and the Funky Cops
There was the comic one with Street Fighter
Multiple crossovers with Power Rangers--the first was in The Next Mutation, with another in the comics
The IDW turtles literally got to meet the Ghostbusters
Turtles of GRAYSKULLLLLLL
Can't forget the Stranger Things crossover
No one told me about them appearing in Teen Titans Go!
I'm sorry, THE X-FILES?!
We FINALLY got an official crossover with fuckin' NARUTO after all these years
Speaking of Japanese properties; there were goddamn Hello Kitty vinyl figures released in Japan of everyone's favorite cat dressed as the turtles.
Last year for the 40th anniversary saw the turtles added to Fortnite
There was also that event in the State of Survival mobile game
They got added to goddamn Call of Duty
Single page story with Garfield
...Gutwallow the Gingerbread man?
Feel free to add more/make corrections. This is, ah, quite the rabbit hole.

You all need to check out the absolute cringe slogans on the Super7 boxes btw:
"the selfless slicer" i swear they wrote these for themselves. They reek of Edgy Teenage Boy.

obligatory turtle pile art
[Image ID: A digital illustration of Don, Mikey, Leo, and Raph from the TMNT 2003 cartoon. They all sleep in a turtle pile surrounded by pillows and blankets. Mikey and Leo are in the center, Leo’s arm around Mikey’s shoulder and Mikey’s arm stretched out over Leo’s stomach. Mikey sleeps open mouthed, while Leo looks relaxed and is smiling faintly. Don is curled up around Mikey’s side with his cheek resting on Leo’s arm. Raph is curled up around Leo’s back with an arm over his chest. Leo rests his head against Raph’s shoulder. A beam of light falls over their faces. End ID.]

One thing that always gets me about the turtles is that they must have such confusing instincts since they are reptiles yet are shown to have mammalian instincts.
Take the 2012 TMNT turtles for example:

They have the instinct to suckle. That’s a mammal instinct. Suckling allows newborn mammals (like humans) to latch and nurse off their mothers. Reptiles don’t have this instinct because….well, they don’t feed their young via milk-producing mammary glands.
Yet here we have two turtle tots who exhibit the suckling instinct.
It makes you really wonder how often the turtles experience conflicting instincts and how often that caused confusion growing up as a human-turtle hybrid. Especially since every iteration of TMNT was raised by a mammal.

Chuckling thinking about Bane, who's so infamous for breaking Batman's back over his knee, trying to break Donnie the same way in Batman vs. TMNT and cringefailing so painfully while Shredder's over here in Exodus breaking Raph over his knee like a KitKat. The pros of being an Utrom and not feeling any pain in a knee, I guess?
