I think I'm starting to realize this isn't even my final form.
I'm starting to surprise myself again. It's exciting.
I have been focusing on reminding myself of when I was little.
Whenever I doubt, I remind myself at what young bravery felt like.
It's felt like years since I've had and chased dreams of this scale.

DO NOT DO THIS!!!
If a website has a paywall, like New York Times, DO NOT use the ctrl+A shortcut then the ctrl+c shortcut as fast as you can because then you may accidentally copy the entire article before the paywall comes up. And definitely don't do ctrl+v into the next google doc or whatever you open because then you will accidentally paste the entire article into a google doc or something!!!! I repeat DO NOT do this because it is piracy which is absolutely totally wrong!!!

You're just a mammal. Let yourself act like it. Your brain needs enrichment. Your body needs rest. You feel hunger and grow hair. You need to pack bond with other sentient things so you don't become unsocialized and neurotic. You are biologically inclined to seek dopamine and become sick when chronically stressed. "Hedonism" is made up to place moral value on taking pleasure in sensory experiences. I am telling you that if you don't let yourself be a fucking mammal, as you were made, you will suffer and go insane. No grindset no diets no trying to be above your drive for connection. Pursue what makes you feel good and practice radial rejection of the constructs meant to turn you into a machine. You're a mammal.

Punk is whatever the state fucking hates so I'm sorry to announce to the functionally conservative but contemporary punk isn't leather jackets and punk rock from the 2000s, it's hyperfemininity, it's transsexualism, it's kinky leather harnesses, it's polyamory, it's Black female rappers, it's reading books from the library, it's pirating media, it's sharing your Netflix and Prime and Spotify passwords, it's patching up your thrifted clothes with cute embroidery until they're in tatters, it's "borrowing" groceries from corporations that make up inflation that doesn't exist, it's supporting small weird freaky artists on Etsy instead of buying the newest Official™️ boring low effort promotional image enamel pins, it's drawing and writing the raunchiest most disgusting and freaky porn you could possibly fathom, it's showing off your tits or top surgery scars in public, it's cis women packing and cis men tucking, it's dykefags and fagdykes and boylesbians and girlgays, it's paying for OnlyFans of trans people fisting themselves, it's making up new genders and sexualities and romantic orientations and editing whole new flags for them, it's refusing to label yourself for the gratification of a government that wants to know under what misspelled drafty legislation they should legally kill you
Punk is being/supporting whatever the state currently fucking despises and wants to burn off the face of the earth, not whatever you think is Punk Aesthetic. If you wanna be punk just to look like you were born in the 80s instead of actually BEING PUNK by supporting the degenerates and the freaks and the sex workers and the BIPOC and the transsexuals and the faggots and the dykes, burn your fucking $800 corp bought leather jacket because you're not Hobie Brown you're just a fucking poser.
Punk is fighting the system beside the ones the system is fighting against, Punk isn't a Pinterest moodboard.

Modern library science has five key tenets that would also guide a future library economy. Developed by S. R. Ranganathan in his 1931 book, “Five Laws of Library Science,” these concepts are some of the most influential in today’s library economy. Let’s discuss these laws and how they would apply to the broader library economy. 1. Books are for use While preservation of certain original works is important, the purpose of a book is to be read. More broadly, a hammer’s purpose is to hammer, a tent to shelter, a children’s toy to be played with. Americans buy a lot of stuff, much of which spends more time idle in storage than in productive use. This law guides libraries to prioritize access, equality of service, and focus on the little things that prevent people from active use of the library’s collection. 2. Every person has their book This law guides libraries to serve a wide range of patrons and to develop a broad collection to serve a wide variety of needs and wants. The librarian should not be judgmental or prejudiced regarding what specific patrons choose to borrow. This extends to aesthetics of products, ergonomics, accessibility, topics, and the types of products themselves. 3. Every book has its reader This law states that everything has its place in the library, and guides libraries to keep pieces of the collection, even if only a very small demographic might choose to read them. This prevents a tyranny of the majority in access to resources. 4. Save the time of the reader This law guides libraries to focus on making resources easy to locate quickly and efficiently. This involves employing systems of categorization that save the time of patrons and library employees. 5. The library is a growing organism This law posits that libraries should always be growing in the quantity of items in the library and in the collection’s overall quality through gradual replacement and updating as materials are worn down. Growth today can also mean adoption of digital access tools.

It’s solar and wind and tidal and geothermal and hydropower.
It’s plant-based diets and regenerative livestock farming and insect protein and lab-grown meat.
It’s electric cars and reliable public transit and decreasing how far and how often we travel.
It’s growing your own vegetables and community gardens and vertical farms and supporting local producers.
It’s rewilding the countryside and greening cities.
It’s getting people active and improving disabled access.
It’s making your own clothes and buying or swapping sustainable stuff with your neighbours.
It’s the right to repair and reducing consumption in the first place.
It’s greater land rights for the commons and indigenous peoples and creating protected areas.
It’s radical, drastic change and community consensus.
It’s labour rights and less work.
It’s science and arts.
It’s theoretical academic thought and concrete practical action.
It’s signing petitions and campaigning and protesting and civil disobedience.
It’s sailboats and zeppelins.
It’s the speculative and the possible.
It’s raising living standards and curbing consumerism.
It’s global and local.
It’s me and you.
Climate solutions look different for everyone, and we all have something to offer.

This week I went back to visit the discussion in the notes on @seaweed-solarpunk’s post on solarpunk fashion. I collected all the suggestions in reblogs and tags and tried to find common themes to organize into a concept map. This is just my interpretation, but I think the three most important tenets of solarpunk fashion are eco-friendliness, inclusive design, and personal significance.
Tumblr media
[image ID: a colorful branching concept map where the central idea is Solarpunk Fashion, and the three main branches are in primary colors. Where the branches connect and overlap, the color changes to a secondary color between the primaries. All text in the bubbles is listed in the text to follow. End ID]
Eco-Friendly
• Local sourcing
• Biodegradable textiles
• Durable
• Closed-loop production
• Biomimicry
- Integrated biotechnology
- Upcycled electronics
• Heirlooms and Secondhand
- Thrifted
- Hand-me-downs
- Dumpster-dived
- Clothing swaps
Inclusive Design
• Body-type inclusivity
• Accessibility
- Decorated disability aids
- Physical comfort (including for those with sensory issues)
Personal Significance
• Radical authenticity
- Genderfuckery
- Rejection of mega-corporations
• Handmade/modified
- Small practices
- DIY
- Visibly mended
• Culture
- Religious symbols
- Pride flags
- Traditional dress
I’d love to hear what the solarpunk community here thinks of this framework, what you’d keep, remove, or change.

I have to do something.
For years now, it's felt like my brain's been trapped inside of a box.
I distinctly remember being an intelligent kid. I wrote out my ideas, and I was constantly creating. Something about the internet fried that part of my personality. In some ways, I believe it made me too self-aware. Anxiety that may have existed in normal doses suddenly spiraled so violently out of control that it transfixed my brain to the screens to watch other people live out their lives instead of continuing my own.
Something about these recent years has me tired of staring at the wall. As I continue my journey in education, I find that curious part of my brain being beckoned out again. I'm curious about myself and about the world.
Here's a brief explanation about how I've been feeling lately:
I used to feel trapped inside of Buffalo, NY. For 8 years I resented having moved during my Sophomore year of high school. Now, only a couple months after having left I realize what a perfect pocket of life it held. I did not know how good I had it in NY.
People are building a community like I've never seen before. There is a place to be a young person in Buffalo. There are friends who care and want the best for their peers. The beautiful social justice movements that emerge out of Buffalo's academic circles create bigger communities for the general public to join. I'm far away now, but I see it every time I open Instagram and watch protests and community events being organized.
Since moving to Vegas, I've been reminded of what life has become for so many people living in this country. Vegas is dirty. Dirty in a way that has turned my soul a darker shade since I arrived. It's built this overwhelming sense of hopelessness in the way this community is impoverished. Poverty exists financially, it also exists in the community here too. There is a sense of mistrust among its people. I feel trapped in the confusing nightlife and rapid consumerism that exists in this city.
There is also poverty in how disconnected this city is from nature. I know Vegas has caused me to miss the forests I explored in NY. However, I also remember how excited I was to explore the desert. Even with how dirty this city is, It's surrounded by the most beautiful mountains. It remains a reminder to me that nature still exists out there.
I'm not sure how I want to go about learning to create again, but this page felt like one of the right places to start. It's been a long time since I've tried recording my thoughts and sharing them with other people, but I'm determined to find a sense of community and purpose again. I know that the only way to do that is to open up.
I hope you stick around to watch my page develop. Thank you for taking the time to exist in this space with me :)
