my great grandmother used to keep a mosquito-ridden garden of snowball hydrangeas. and they would be feasting thick as black gloves on her forearms. but she never complained, never seemed to take notice of the itch, or the welts. victoria winters is a little like that.

I dislike V’s ending on a personal level but as a black sails enjoyer I have to say I find the whole “narrator is ripped out of their own story and locked away in the past, to eventually meet a death that was prophesied for them 200 years in the future” just very conceptually arresting
