Crazy weather and unusual words
It's raining cats and dogs right now. Wherever did that phrase come from???? Why is a fork called a fork?? Mukluks, galoshes, guacamole, carburetor, pizza, octopus.......so many weird words.

So my daughter is in Europe for the first time and is now blogging. Apparently, zillions of people do this. Blogging…. not a European vacation.
I find myself at a crossroads. My son Roland, and his wonderful new wife, Jane just celebrated one year of wedded bliss. Though they are 3000 miles away and we couldn’t share the day with them….not that they’d want us to! Haha! My hubby, also a Roland, has been in Virginia working for a minor league hockey team since February. Finally, my baby girl has gone and grown up! She’s starting college in mid August and is on a trip of a lifetime, and writing blogs that give me heart palpitations!
We sold the house we’ve lived in for many years and will be closing on our new house in TN next week!! We always said we’d grow old in this house, but the area has changed so much.
Its a sad and happy time.
I’m about to be an empty nester, though I guess I am one now, technically.
I’m a bit (a lot) frazzled at the daunting tasks of packing the house alone, having a monster yard sale, dealing with people who don’t know how to read a post on online yard sales and OfferUp (the pics and prices are right there guys….geez),getting Jillian off to college, and then the big move and settling into the new digs. I’m hoping and praying that she loves it and does well.
I’m a little worried I won’t get everything done on time, or with the attention things deserve. I’m hoping that my hubby and I will adjust to crazy living arrangements. Us splitting our time between two places with four pets in tow.
We have an interesting assortment of critters. Kiba is our wolf. We inherited him from the vet I worked for. Someone bought him from a breeder and didn’t know what they were doing and, long story short, ditched him at the clinic. He’s been a good and faithful friend. He’s not feeling well these days. More on that another time.
Beezer our Bassett was another ditch at the clinic. The lady who dumped him claimed to have no money for a rabies shot. I gave it to her and next thing you know she’s gone to Starbucks and I’ve got another pooch. Since then, poor Beez had to have eye surgery and now is minus an eye. He’s still dang cute!
Cosby is our bobtail cat we found as a tiny kitten at an orchard in TN. Couldn’t just leave him. He was so little. He’s like a dog! Follows me around and talks all the time.
Finally, Boots. We had a 💩load of feral cats at our barn. Leading to a 💩load of kittens. We did the responsible thing and trapped them and got them fixed at the Humane Society ($20! Such a bargain!) We kept Boots not only because he is annoyingly social, and talks as much as Cosby, but he has full double paws in front. So cool, but they (his nails) are loads of maintenance.
Gee, I went off on a major tangent there! I guess I’m just looking for a bit of peace in the near future. A sit on the porch over looking the mountains, or the backyard watching the pups play. Maybe get some painting in, or hit the trails for a run or hike. Wondering what Christmas will be like this year. Will everyone make it to TN? Our new home base. That’s it for now. (I bet you’re saying, “Geez, it’s about dang time, woman!”)
Happy trails!
