“How dare you do exactly what I would do if I were you.”
Thaddeus turned his head from the brew in front of him. Sitting on one of the bar stools in The Bow's End, he was nearly eye-level with most of the patrons there. And despite the heavy traffic in his immediate area, he immediately found the source of the statement.
Bright coloured garb with familiar patterns, the jubilant expression. A familiar glowing orbis on the neck. A posture that exuded a certain thriving in this merry atmosphere. And was that a lute? Thaddeus found himself making a hearty cackle, as if he had just reunited with a friend he'd not seen in a long time.
It was a long shot to find someone even of his world in this hub many universes, but so find someone from his home country?
"You! You're from Vita, right?!" He exclaimed, delight pouring from his words. He raised his tankard in invitation. "The Hearth's Home! Want me to order another one?"
The moniker he gave his drink was one from an old Vitan song. The song itself was about many other things, but a throwaway line mentioned that the quickest way to get a feel for a tavern's atmopshere was to drink all of it's house brews at once. A terrible idea, but made a great excuse for the merry-doers in a city of colour to drink. And while it's wasn't an overly popular custom, this extreme feeling of misplacement calls for the extreme traditions to find solace.
"It's so good to see a friendly face! Come, take a seat, let's chat!"

❝ every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better... ❞
"... I'm sorry?"
The gnome peers up at the taller woman, sitting on a bedroll atop the sand, cupped within the ruin walls they decided to spend the night amoungst. She had not been long asking about snoring when this nugget of wisdom dropped. Thaddeus, still a little wary, holds his mouth while he tries to make sense of it.
"I mean, yeah, that's a good creed. I like it a lot. But uh... you don't feel any hurt, don't you? ...Someone tell that to you once?"

"O-Oh, yes, I agree. It's funny, I just had a student discuss this topic recently... *Ahem*, Y-Yes, at times it seems that the world can be very unfair, but everything is part of God's plan for you, isn't it? But as long as you learn the lesson or moral of the situation, allow Him to guide your hand through the turmoil, you will come out smarter and better off for the trials ahead. Uh, remember, even if things look bad and there's no one standing beside you, the Lord is always there, ready to support you if you let him. Okay?"

"That's a respectable outlook. Yes, at times it seems that the world is overwhelmingly cruel, but everything is part of God's plan for you. As long as you learn the lesson or moral of the situation, allow the Lord to guide you through, you will come out wiser and stronger for the challenges ahead. Remember, even if things look bleak and there's no one standing beside you, the Lord is always there, ready to support you if you let him."
"Oh, and I, uh, apologies for being so forward, but have we met before...? Your name sounds familiar somehow..."

❝ a mind needs books like it needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge. ❞
"I suppose you're correct on that point. But be careful you don't sharpen it too much that it becomes a tool. There is so much love in this world, so much beauty in God's creations. If you train your mind in 1s and 0s, then you won't be able to see the small little details that God has left for you.
And if you want a book recommendation that might help you find them, we-hell, I got the book for you..."

❝ a mind needs books like it needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge. ❞ ❝ a lion doesn’t concern itself with the opinion of sheep. ❞ ❝ nothing burns like the cold. ❞ ❝ i’ve angered you. that was never my intent. ❞ ❝ do the dead frighten you? ❞ ❝ the day will come when you need them to respect you, even fear you a little. ❞ ❝ did i offend you? my pardons…but you are scum. ❞ ❝ folly and desperation are offtimes hard to tell apart. ❞ ❝ you must put your dreams aside. they will only break your heart. ❞ ❝ a man in your place should count himself fortunate that his head is still on his shoulders. ❞ ❝ every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better. ❞ ❝ life is not a song. someday you will learn that, to your sorrow. ❞ ❝ once you’ve accepted your flaws, no one can use that against you. ❞ ❝ the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword. ❞ ❝ make no mistake. i fought for you, but i do not love you. ❞ ❝ some old wounds never truly heal, and bleed again at the slightest word. ❞ ❝ fear cuts deeper than swords. ❞ ❝ if i look back i am lost. ❞ ❝ your mind is as deft as your blade, it would seem. ❞ ❝ i cannot think of anyone whose company i desire less than yours. ❞ ❝ sleep is the great healer. ❞ ❝ when you play a game of thrones, you win or you die. ❞ ❝ most men would rather deny a hard truth than face it. ❞ ❝ the things we love destroy us every time. remember that. ❞ ❝ death is so terribly final, while life is full of possibilities. ❞ ❝ what, lost your taste of adventure? 𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐍 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐒 (a collection of prompts from the Pirates of The Caribbean movies, feel free to adjust phrasing and gendered terms as necessary)

“Why fight when you can negotiate?”
“If you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it.”
“I do that quite a lot yet people are always surprised.”
“This is either madness or brilliance.”
“The code is more what you’d call ‘guidelines’ than actual rules.”
“Crazy people don’t know they’re crazy. I know I’m crazy, therefore I’m not crazy, isn’t that crazy?”
“You lied to me by telling me the truth?”
“What a horrible way to live.”
“How did you get here?”
“Dying is the day worth living for.”
“Better mad with the rest of the world than sane alone.”
“Fortune has clearly brought us here.”
“I should have told you every day from the moment I met you. I love you.”
“[name], there is more to you than meets the eye, isn’t there? And the eye does not go wanting.”
“This is madness.”
“You’re off the edge of the map, mate. Here, there are monsters.”
“Speak up! Or do you fancy a swim with Davy Jones?”
“This is barbaric!”
“Everything you said to me, every word was a lie!”
“What’s in your head, boy?”
“You cheated!”
“Do you fear death?”
“Life is cruel. Why should the afterlife be any different?”
“That’s very kind of you.”
“Think you can outrun the world?”
“How dare you do exactly what I would do if I were you.”
“I’m disinclined to acquiesce to your request.”
“You’d best start believing in ghost stories, Missie. You’re in one!”
“The world used to be a bigger place.”
“Did everyone see that? Because I will not be doing it again.”
