Did you know that the Regency style furniture enjoys considerable appeal even today? Here is a little bit about the Regency era: This period spans approximately 4 decades from 1795 to 1837. This period encompasses the reign of Prince Regent of Great Britain who ruled as his father, King George III’s proxy. He later went on to assume the throne as King George IV upon his father’s demise in 1820. The Regency period saw a great cultural refinement and achievement one of its many influences was on the design and manufacture of Regency furniture.

Some defining factors of Regency furniture:

         Wood choice: Mahogany, rosewood, or zebrawood

         Brass inlays

         Gilded metal accents or mounts

         Legs usually column, concave, or X-shaped

         Paw-shaped metal covered feet, for table and chair

         Carved rosettes or laurel wreaths

         Bronze or Brass knob-like handles for cabinet doors or drawers
