University option 7 - Birmingham City University: Film Technology and Visual Effects BSc (Hons)
The thing that strikes me about this course is the modules. Really like the technical side of it and gives more options in the future. Although I dot like the thought of animation I do like the thought of helping on films and specifically the visual effects (obviously willing to do animation if it makes that possible). The modules are:
Modules (Year 1) Film Industry (15 credits)  Production Fundamentals (30 credits)  Visual Effects and Compositing (15 credits)  3D Modelling (30 credits)  Digital Acquisition (30 credits)
Modules (Year 2) Production Techniques (15 credits)  Image Technology (15 credits)  3D Animation (30 credits)  Professional Practice (15 credits)  Production and Distribution Technology (15 credits)  Visual Effects Techniques (15 credits)  Studio Production (15 credits)
Modules (Year 3) Film Production and Direction (30 credits)  Visual Effects Production (30 credits)  Sound Effects (15 credits)  Digital Media Technology Project (30 credits)  Film Production Planning (15 credits)

University option 6 - Loughborough University: Fine Art BA (Hons)
Loughborough seems to be the best for me when it comes to distance as well as course content.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The modules are typical for a fine art course so if I decide to do that then I think this would be the best option as its better situated and has just as good stats. Loughborough has 85% 2:1 or above and 85% employment rate. On top of this it has a uni ranking of 10th. The main difference between this one and other fine art courses I have looked at are that this has 42% course work and 58% practical work. The fact there is no exams makes it much easier for me to feel comfortable on the course.
This is the entry requirements:

University Option 5 - Coventry University: Graphic Design BA (Hons)
Coventry has the ranking of 27/127 so not the best out of what I have looked at however its in a good location in relation to where my mum lives and my dad which has been something that’s been difficult.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This uni has coursework as 97% instead which is slightly more than the others I have looked at but this is fine by me. This is the requirements for this course, I don’t fully understand how that would translate to my current courses grading however I am aiming for as high as I can get anyway.
Tumblr media
For some reason the modules aren’t on whatuni for this course so I assume they’re being changed. So I went off the course description which incorporates so much I could hardly not be interested. It seems to have a lot of aspects I am looking for including the use of Photoshop and learning about editorial book design.

University Option 4 - Lancaster University: Fine Art BA (Hons)
Lancaster university’s ranking is 23/127. The course is for 3 years and has an impressive 100% employment rate.
The university is 4 and a half hours from Bury St Edmunds from where I live with my dad however only 2 and a half from where my mum lives.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It has a similar layout to most art courses as it has 92% coursework and 8% exam which I am pleased about. Tuition fees are £9,250 a year as average.
The modules would be:
Modules (Year 1)
Modernism in the Arts - Core Fine Art Practice - Core
Modules (Year 2)
Critical Reflections - Core Studio Practice - Core
Modules (Year 3)
This module is a student centred course, which requires students to direct their own research and to develop a self-reliant approach and an increasing responsibility for the creative and conceptual direction of their studio practice; leading to independence. To support the creative development of the individual student the appropriate teaching and learning mechanisms are one-to-one tutorials, group tutorials, and peer feedback. Dissertation - Core Advanced Studio Practice - Core Advanced Studio Practice (single weighted) - Core
I like the sound of this course because it focuses more on the individuals learning however, the modules do seem very vague and I would want to know more before adding it to my final 5.

University Option 3 - University Of York: Interactive Media BSc (Hons)
Out of the courses, I have looked at this is the best situated in terms of my family. With almost 4 hours to Bury St Edmunds (just an hour more than the others) and just over an hour to Sheffield which is far less than the others, I have looked at.

This uni has a ranking of 24/127 and is 92% coursework with 8% exam. These are the entry requirements:

When it comes to my interest in the computer side of art I think this would satisfy it the most with these modules, they also have the most relevance to the current Interactive Media I'm on which I enjoy a lot:
Modules (Year 1)
Programming for Digital Media Web Application Design and Development Media Production for Interactive Environments Academic integrity Developing Interactive Media Computational Thinking Digital Culture, Aesthetics and Storytelling Introduction to Media Technologies Modules (Year 2)
User Experience Design Interactive Media Group Project Interactive Media and Society Modules (Year 3)
Business, Legal and Professional Issues - Core Project Planning - Core Interactive Media Individual Project - Core

University Options 2 - University Of Kent: Digital Arts with a Year in Industry (4 years) BA (Hons)
This university is almost 2 and a half hours away from where I live in Bury St Edmunds and just over 4 to Sheffield.
Tumblr media
It has an impressive ranking of 18/127 and an amazing 100% employment rate for past students. I find this a very reassuring figure as typically art careers are fairly difficult to get into. It also has an average graduate salary of £20,000 which is better than the others I have looked at.
Something that really drew me to this course is that it has a year of work in the industry as the third year. This backs up the employment rate because it would give me good connections in the industry and help me narrow down even further what I would like to in a career after uni. From what I have researched, most students that have done a year in the industry as part of their degree are statistically far more likely to get a career in that area. Again, I have my maths and English GCSEs so I don't need to worry about that. The UCAS points needed haven't been posted yet, however, the A levels needed are BBB so if I get (and aim to get) a distinction that should be enough.
This is what the modules look like:
Modules (Stage 1)
EL313 - Introduction to Programming (15 credits) EL331 - Website Design (15 credits) EL338 - Visual Culture (15 credits) EL542 - Creativity in Interactive and Tangible Media (15 credits) EL340 - Digital Effects (15 credits) EL342 - Moving Image (15 credits) EL339 - Digital Photography (15 credits) Modules (Stage 2)
EL537 - Digital Portfolio (30 credits) EL539 - Professional Practice (15 credits) EL642 - Project Design (15 credits) EL532 - Professional 3D and Compositing (30 credits) EL533 - Digital Film-Making (30 credits) Modules (Stage 3)
EL790 - Year In Industry (120 credits) Modules (Stage 4)
CB302 - Managers and Organisations (15 credits) EL638 - 3D Computer Animation Pipeline (15 credits) EL639 - Videogames Design (15 credits) EL641 - Digital Visual Effects and Post Production (30 credits) EL636 - Final Year Project (60 credits)

University Options 1 - Kingston College: BA (Hons) Digital Arts
This university is situated in London which has the disadvantage of high living costs after the first year. On the other hand, the rent is lower than most that I've looked at (averaging £ £5,940 for this uni). This is just over a 4-hour drive from where my mum lives in Sheffield but only 3 to get to Bury St Edmunds.
Tumblr media
This university hasn't uploaded what the requirements are yet for UCAS points or if you need English and Maths GCSEs, however, I have both of those GCSEs. The employment rate for students that leave is 85% which is average and I think a lot of that statistic has to do with the determination of the student.
I like this course in particular because of the range of things in each module. It all seems very interesting and I feel I would be able to put all my passion into it and find what I like the best and to push myself in all the areas.
Modules (Year 1)
Web design skills 3D modelling and animation Digital art processes Pixel-based imaging Multimedia scripting and authoring Video production Visual studies Digital culture
Modules (Year 2)
Interactive gameplay design Experimental 3D Network aesthetics 3D character animation Virtual space Digital narrative
Modules (Year 3)
Design for simulation Computer graphics and animation SFX Multimedia applications Double project
