Scars

Venture X GN!Reader (No mention of reader's pronouns) CW: Top surgery scars, accidental walk-in WC: 1.3k+ A/N: I am enjoying playing Venture in OW and I love Venture as a character. They're so much fun and I love playing them! And I love the non-binary representation! (As a fellow non-binary pal.) And I also love the trans representation from Venture as well. As they are confirmed to be trans non-binary.
"Hey, Sloane, you up?" I knocked on their door.
I heard shuffling of sheets before a thump was followed. I hope they didn't just fall out of bed.
"I am such a klutz," they chuckled.
Yep.
The door swung open and I was met with my excavation partner: Sloane Cameron, or as we call them, Venture. Because they always love adventuring to dig sites and they were the biggest archeology nerd out of everyone here. I mean, we all are archeologists, but Venture was the most passionate out of all of us. They are really into what they do and wanting to preserve the natural world.
"Hey, Y/N!" they smiled at me with what they claimed as the perfect smile.
I couldn't help it. They were cute. Especially with the bed hair like that.
"Crew captain wants us to be out there."
"Oh shoot! I totally forget we were supposed to get up early! Tell him I'll be right there."
The door slammed closed followed by another thud.
"Shit," they whispered.
"Don't rush yourself," I said. "I don't want you to forget anything or trip on anything that will cause injury."
"I'll be fine, Y/N. Oh, if you're heading there, can you grab me something for breakfast?"
"Yep," I said and walked off.
"Thanks! You're the best."
I walked off towards the cafeteria and grabbed myself an apple along with a banana for Venture. I had also grabbed their favorite snack for whenever we're at the dig site. I know them. They're always hungry whenever we're out there. How can they not be? They're carrying around that giant drill for who knows how long. And when I try to lift it up, I find myself always struggling. I wonder what kind of physique Venture is hiding under there.
As I left the base, I headed to where the dig site was, which wasn't too far from where the base was. About a twenty minute walk. I reached the site and the others were talking to one another.
"Hey, Y/N," our captain said, waving to me. I waved back. "Did you get Cameron up?"
We also call each other by our last names, too.
"Yeah, they're coming soon. They should be here soon."
"Talking about me?" Venture asked, poking their head out from the ground.
"Told you," I gestured to them.
"Again, Cameron?" our captain said.
Venture crawled out of the hole they were in and brushed off the dirt and debris. I chuckled as that is always the norm with them, always popping up out of no where.
"Sorry, Cap," they said bashfully, rubbing the back of their neck. "I didn't mean to oversleep this time."
"No, that," he gestured to the hole.
"Oh right! I thought walking would take longer and it is also boring. You don't really get to see much. So I thought digging to the dig site would be even better!"
"What did you see down there?"
"Rocks, worms, and other critters," they took the banana from me as I handed it to them.
"Any moles?" I asked, smiling at them.
"Yeah!"
Venture reached into their pocket and pulled out a little mole.
"Look how cute! I think I might keep them. Rosetta would have a friend," they reached into their other pocket and pulled out Rosetta, their pet rock.
On the same hand, they dropped the mole with Rosetta. The little furry friend sniffed the rock before climbing onto it.
"See! They're getting along," Venture put the rock back in their pocket and placed the mole on the shoulder, only for them to fall off.
I reached over and caught the mole, holding it in my hands.
"I think we have to let them go," I said.
"Aww. Alright. I'll put them back," they cupped their hands together and I placed the mole in their palms.
The little critter was cute, not going to lie. How their nose sniffed around the air and their head moving from side to side. Venture walked over to the hole they came out of and carefully placed the mole back in the ground.
"Bye, little friend!" they said.
"Let's get to work, Venture," I said, grabbing my tools.
"Whew!" Venture wiped at the sweat on their forehead. "All in a day's work."
"Time to turn in," I said and set my tools down.
The two of us headed back towards the base.
"We make a great team!" they smiled. "No wonder Cap put the two of us together."
"Sorry I couldn't help out as much today."
"Don't worry about it, Y/N," they bumped my shoulder with theirs. "Besides, not like we found anything interesting today. Just rocks, rocks, and more rocks."
"Oh, here. I forgot to give this to you during our lunch break."
I reached into my pocket and pulled out a small bag of Pop Rocks.
"Whoa! They actually had them this time!"
"Yep. I made sure that we always have some."
"Thanks, Y/N! You truly are the best," Venture pulled me into a hug.
"T-Thanks, Venture," I breathed out, not quite prepared for their famous spine crushing hug.
After Venture let me go, they opened the small bag and poured the candy into their mouth. I could hear the popping from here, even with their mouth closed.
"I forgot how much these things popped," Venture giggled.
"Better than eating actual rocks," I said.
"Hey, sometimes when you're digging, you can't help but get a few rocks in your mouth."
"You'd love rock candy."
"Isn't this rock candy?" they pointed to the empty bag.
"No. Well, kind of. Not the type of rock candy I am thinking of. The rock candy I am thinking of actually looks like rocks."
"They do?!" Venture's eyes lit up.
"Yeah. Maybe when we return home I can take you to a place that has some."
"That'd be awesome, Y/N! Oh, after I get cleaned up, want to grab a bite to eat with me?"
"Am I your dig partner?"
"Yeah. I don't see how that relates to--oooh." Realization struck them. "You got me there, Y/N."
"I'll see you later, Venture."
The two of us parted ways and I took a shower in my room. Afterwards, I came out, dried my hair, and got changed into some more comfortable clothes. I walked past Venture's room and saw their door was slightly open.
"Hey, Venture, just wanted to let you know that--," I stopped and froze.
The water was running in their shower and Venture was still in their part of the bedroom, removing their shirt. I suspected they had a built body with them carrying around that giant ass drill. But I wasn't expecting to see top surgery scars turned into flame tattoos, resembling the one on their neck.
"I am so sorry!" I shielded my eyes.
"Whoa! Hey," Venture said. "Sorry about that, Y/N. You're good to look now."
"I-I'll see you in the cafeteria," I backed out of their room and closed the door.
I briskly walked towards the cafeteria, trying to calm down my racing heart and the embarrassment. I grabbed dinner that was being served and sat down at a table, just staring at my food. Footsteps approached me and Venture sat in front of me.
"Y/N, are you OK?"
"I-I am so sorry, Sloane," I said. I couldn't bring myself to face them.
"Hey, no worries, alright?" their voice was soft and sincere. "Can we talk about this?"
"Can we talk in your room?"
"Yeah."
Dinner was a bit awkward, but after we finished, we headed back to their room. I sat down on their desk chair while they sat on the edge of their bed, facing me.
"I-I did not mean to walk in on you while you were getting changed. I thought you were in the shower."
"I thought I had closed the door. It's not your fault," they said reassuringly.
I shook my head, "I should have knocked."
"Y/N," they spoke. "I-I should have told you beforehand."
"I just thought you were non-binary."
Venture shook their head, "Nope. Trans, too."
Their expression fell as those words came from their mouth.
"It won't change anything between us," I said.
Their eyes picked up and found mine, a hopeful shine to them.
"It won't?"
"No. Not at all."
A smile crawled onto their lips, revealing their perfect smile. I stood up and walked over to them, pulling them into a hug.
"Thank you, Y/N," their tense body relaxed as I held them.
"You're welcome, Sloane."

Junker Queen X Fem!Reader CW: It's smut. What do you expect? WC: 1.1k+ A/N: I apologize if this feels rushed. I wanted to get this out in a timely manner.
"H-Hey, Odessa?" I walked into our bedroom after she had gotten home from a long day.
"Yeah, babe?" she asked.
"I-I was thinkin'."
"Ya nervous about somethin', love?" she turned to face me.
Her hair was down to its natural length. Fuck she always looked so good like that.
"I-I was wonderin'."
"Come sit," she patted the empty space beside her.
I walked over and sat down, her arm wrapping around my waist. She pressed a kiss to the side of my head.
"What's the matter, darlin'?"
"C-Can we," I gave her that look.
She smiled softly, nodding her head.
"Of course, darlin'."
"It's my first time," I said, my face flushing.
"No need to be embarrassed, darlin'."
"I'm sorry if I am inexperienced and can't give ya a good time."
"Hey," she reached underneath my chin, tilting my head to look up at her. "No need to worry about that now. Is there anythin' ya do know?"
I shook my head.
"It's alright, love," she pressed another kiss to my forehead. "It'll be a learnin' experience for the both of us."
"What do ya mean both of us?"
"It's my first time, too."
"R-Really?" I asked, my eyes widening slightly.
"Yeah."
"I never would have guessed that," I chuckled, feeling my nerves starting to die down.
"It's as they say, ya can't judge a book by it's cover," she smiled.
"Yeah," I said, eyeing her lips.
She leaned towards me and pressed a kiss to my lips. It was soft and sweet. Nothing growing between us just yet. The nerves were starting to come back. I forced them down and I grabbed Odessa's shoulders, pushing her down to the bed. I straddled her as my tongue ran across her bottom lip. Her mouth opened up slightly and my tongue slipped past hers. A slow make out was initiated and that was when my hands started to slide down her body. The pads of my fingers slid over her abs, feeling the muscle protrude from her stomach. A low moan came from her as my other hand slipped past her shorts.
"Fuck you're this wet already?" I asked as I pulled away to breathe.
"Only you make me feel this way," she whispered.
"Is it ok if I take off your shorts and undergarments?"
"Yes."
"Thank you," I said and did just that.
I kissed down to her neck, placing small kisses here and there and I trailed down her chest, to her stomach, kissing her abs. The one thing that I loved most about her was her build. Of course her personality was amazing, but Gods being at eye level with her abs, I can't help but stare at them.
I pulled away and eyed her wet core. I smirked up at her as some blush crawled over her cheeks. She turned her head, trying to hide the nervousness, possibly even the embarrassment. I lowered my head and kissed her inner thigh before the flat of my tongue took a long swipe from the bottom to the top.
"F-Fuck," she breathed out.
"I'll try to make you feel good," I said.
"That's all I ask. Is that ya try your best."
I nodded my head and leaned forward, inserting the tip of my tongue inside. Her hands grabbed at the sheets underneath us. My hands grabbed at her muscular thighs, parting them a bit more so I had more room. I took in everything that was her. Her warmth, her slick, everything. My eyes fluttered closed as I relished in this. From the way she would sometimes clench around my tongue to how sweet she tasted. Her breathing got heavier and small moans escaped from her lips. Her eyes were squeezed shut and she'd sometimes arch her back. Her hand grabbed the back of my head and she forced me further.
"F-Fuck, Y/N. Faster," she whimpered.
I winked at her and went as fast as I could, lapping at her folds and the wetness it was creating. Her moans and the lewd sounds coming from beneath her were filling the once silent room. Her hand fisted a clump of my hair and she started to buck her hips in time with me. She clenched tightly around me. Right when she was about to release, I stopped and pulled away.
"F-Fuck. Why did ya stop?"
"So I can watch you come undone," I said, inserting a couple fingers in my mouth before inserting them inside her.
"Fuck!" she breathed out, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
I sat there for a moment, my two fingers inside her warmth and wetness. When she glared at me, I took that as a sign for me to start moving my fingers. While they were slowly pumping in and out of her, I leaned down and captured her lips in a fast, heated kiss. Her arms wrapped around my neck and dug into my hair, trying to pull me inhumanely close to her. She pulled away to take in deep breaths, but to also stare lovingly into my eyes.
"Thought you were goin' to eat me out, darlin'."
"Is that what you want, my queen?" I said in a sultry voice.
A shiver went down her spine as small goosebumps appeared.
"That is what I want."
"I better give my queen what she wants," I said, lowering my head back down.
I reattached my lips to her, my fingers still pumping in and out as my tongue joined the mix. Gods this was heaven. Like I was tasting the finest wine, the sweetest honey, a delectable nectar that my tongue now constantly craved.
"Y/N, I-I'm close," she breathed out.
"Yeah? My queen is gonna come?"
She nodded her head, "Y-Yes."
"Why should I?"
A dark look appeared in her eyes as she let out a chuckle, "You're in for it when we're done 'ere. Also, who are you to deny your queen of what she wants?"
"You're right. I would never deny 'er of anythin'," I said.
I closed my eyes, focusing on how my fingers and tongue were going inside her, feeling them getting wetter by the second. And with one last push inwards, she let out a long moan and her fluids came into my mouth. It was warm, thick, and above all else, sweet. Once all the contents were gathered, I lifted my head up and swallowed right as Odessa opened her eyes. I smirked at her as she lightly smiled, shaking her head.
"Ya didn't have to do that."
"I wanted to," I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand.
Before I could even blink, I was pinned to the bed, a pair of dark amber eyes staring at me. Just her eyes alone could tear and ravage all of me. I'd let her have her way with me. Any time. Any day.
"Guess it's my turn," I said.
"It most assuredly is," she growled.

Happy Lesbian Visibility Week! This week means a lot to not only me but other people who identify as lesbian. And for those who are still closeted, take your time. You don't need to come out if you're not ready. I know it may seem scary to come out to people, but you have a welcoming community that is ready to support you. And if need be, I will be more than happy to listen to you. Of all things I want to do, is I want to create a safe space for others! You are seen, you are heard, and you are loved!

Let Your Hair Down
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mizu X Fem!Reader CW: N/A WC: 1.2k+ A/N: This was originally going to be the first one-shot I was going to upload since this was the first one I wrote.
"You should wear your hair down more often," I said.
"And what? Get you and I killed?"
"No, I meant when we're alone. When we don't have to worry about people coming after you."
"I'm still surprised you haven't gotten killed either. Or kidnapped and made to be a prostitute."
"That makes two of us," I said.
"You really should hide yourself better."
"Like you?"
"It throws people off. And also no one will ever know because they die. A dead man tells no tales."
"Funny, weren't I the one to figure out your secret?"
"Because you kept following me when I said not to."
"You really don't remember me?"
"I try not to remember Kohama all that much."
"Can't say that I don't blame you. Kohama didn't treat me right either."
"This world doesn't treat women right."
"That's why we're not women," I smiled at Mizu.
"You do a horrible job at disguising yourself, you know that right?"
"Come on, try to be at least uplifting once in a while, Mizu."
"I can't when I am constantly worrying about our backs out here. More specifically yours."
"Aww, did I warm my way into the cold samurai's heart."
"I'm not a samurai. They're honorable. I have no honor."
"Not yet you don't."
"You think seeking revenge is honorable? It's anything but, Y/N. I don't know why you even followed me to begin with."
"Because I saw something you can't see in yourself."
"That being?"
"A lost, broken soul that is trying to get back at the people who wronged you. Especially that white man who caused your birth."
"What gave it away?" Mizu asked sarcastically.
"I wasn't finished. But also someone who constantly views themself as a monster, an onryo."
"Join basically everyone I have ever met," she sighed.
"But I also see a person who just wants someone to see you for who you truly are, not what you are."
"And who am I, Y/N?"
"You're Mizu. Simple as that."
"And who exactly is Mizu?"
I let out a soft chuckle, "Seems you need to do some soul searching, Mizu. Currently you're out for revenge, so I don't think soul searching is your thing to worry about right now."
"Well, who is Mizu to you?" she asked, curious.
"A strong person who will go the distance to get whatever needs to get done. A driven soul that wants to get back at the people who wronged you, but don't really go after those of your past. Those who treated you poorly and called you horrendous things. Just after the guy who made you and your mother suffer. Someone who is in need of a kind and caring  soul," I smiled at Mizu, trying to find her true eye color, but with her tinted glasses, they weren't helping.
Closing her eyes, she reached up and removed her glasses. Slowly opening them, she tilted her head upwards. My eyes found hers. I have only seen her true eye color once in a while and it was when she glared at me over her glasses. So to finally see them in their fullest and at their most vulnerable, it reminded me of the calm waters on the peaceful beach. How clear and stark they were, piercing like the ice, cold, too. Harsh, like a winter storm was raging behind those eyes. A single tear slid from her right eye and dropped onto the floor we were sitting on.
"I'm a monster, Y/N. Simple as that. Someone who shouldn't even belong in this world."
"Yet you're still here."
"I'm here for a reason."
"Your body could have easily given up on you. But you're resilient and able to push yourself through struggles. Sure you're here to get revenge, but you being here," I reached over and grabbed her hand gently. "Is a gift."
She shook her head, "I'm not, Y/N."
"To me you are. That's all that matters. And to me, I don't see a monster."
"Then what do you see?"
"A beautiful woman or handsome man. Whichever you prefer, with the most alluring blue eyes I have ever seen. Bright like the sun lit sky, calm as the waters at a peaceful beach, and yet, harsh and cold like a winter storm."
Another tear slid down her face as she turned away, shaking her head, "I-I--"
"It's ok, Mizu."
She turned and faced me, "No one has told me that before. T-Thank you, Y/N."
"You're welcome. It's a shame people only see you for your physical features and not what you harbor on the inside. Aside from revenge," I chuckled.
A slight smile formed on her lips. It was very rare for her to smile for a long period of time. Actually, it was just rare for her to smile period. Rare to show any kind of emotion other than being serious and taking no bullshit. But for some reason, I was able to worm my way into her life and still stick around.
"Everything ok, Y/N?" she asked, a little worried.
"J-Just thinking," I said.
"Thinking about what exactly?"
"Nothing too serious. Not like I could plot to kill you. I could never raise a blade like you do. It's almost as if you learned everything on your own. All the different fighting skills and blended it together to kind of make your own."
"I guess you could look at that in a sense."
"You're amazing, Mizu. You know that, right?"
Looking into her eyes, they widened slightly and she blinked a few times. Her mouth opened and closed before some pink crawled underneath her eyes. Reaching over, I placed my hand on her left cheek, turning her head to face me.
"Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. Because I will come back and prove them wrong."
The right corner of her mouth twitched slightly, as if she was going to smile but didn't. My eyes flickered between her eyes and her lips. Letting out a soft sigh, she reached up and removed the string that held her hair together. Her long, raven like hair fell down past her shoulders. It really complimented her blue eyes, making them stand out even more than they already do. I couldn't help myself now.
Leaning towards her, I lightly placed my lips against hers. A surprised sound came from her as she backed up slightly, causing me to pull back.
"I-I'm sorry. I-I should have asked. Fuck," I breathed out, some tears forming in my eyes now. "I-I read into it too much, didn't I, Mizu? Shit, I-I'm so so sorry, I-I didn't mean t--"
I was cut off by Mizu returning the gesture. Fluttering my eyes closed, I reached up with both of my hands and dug them into her silk like locks. Pulling away, she found my eyes and smiled. It was soft, genuine, and for the first time, full of love and admiration for someone.
"Don't be sorry," she whispered. "I should have done that first, but you beat me to it."
I giggled, "You know, I was right."
"About what?"
"That you look gorgeous with your hair down. Or handsome. Whichever one you prefer."
"I prefer yours," she smirked.
My eyes widened and blinked rapidly as blush crawled onto my cheeks.
"I--uhm--uhhh," my mind went blank.
She chuckled and pulled away, "Thank you, Y/N."
"Y-You're welcome, Mizu," I said once I gathered my thoughts.
Sitting beside her, I set my hand down. Looking down from the corner of her eye, Mizu placed her hand on top of mine. Smiling, I leaned against her shoulder, placing my head on hers. Hers rested against mine and both of our eyes closed, taking in one another as we fell asleep, getting some much needed rest.

Dance
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mizu X Fem!Reader CW: N/A WC: 1.6k+
Sticking my finger in between the collar and my neck, I tried stretching the fabric out so I could have some breathing room. I let out a sigh as it was futile. Trying to blend in in London was a lot harder than it was in Japan. Maybe it was because I had to wear completely different clothing and still pretend to be a man as well, since women were treated practically the same as in Japan. Not to mention I was also half Japanese and raven black hair wasn't really common among the white folk. Brown was, but not black like mine. Not to mention I had to wear it down and not in my normal bun. I still stood out like a sore thumb, but at least my eyes kind of matched theirs.
Sighing, I looked at myself in the mirror that was in front of me. This ball, this dance I was attending apparently was where Skeffington was going to be. Fowler made sure of it. I still don't trust him. But if I am able to get to both Skeffington and Routely through Fowler, I might as well keep him alive. If I can get all three of them in a room together, that'll be even better. Three birds with one sword. Getting ready, I made sure I had my sword on me before giving myself one more glance in the mirror, catching something from the corner of my eye.
"Who's there?" I turned, my hand on the hilt of my sword.
Scanning the shadows, someone came out. They were wearing a poofy and long dress, similar to the ones I've seen the ladies wear here.
"Y/N?"
"Mizu," she smiled.
"W-What are you doing here? I thought you left Edo and went back with Ringo."
"Nope. I followed you."
"Why on Earth would you follow me?"
"You need someone to watch your back."
"I am more than capable of watching my own back, thank you very much."
"Mizu, this isn't Japan. You're in London."
"I am well aware of that."
"They have guns. You have a sword. They're technologically more advanced than you are right now. And right now," she pulled the dress back a bit, revealing a gun strapped to her thigh. "You're going to need all the firearms you can get. You will never raise a gun, I know that much."
"I did back at Edo when fighting Fowler."
"But did you shoot it?"
"No."
"Exactly. You use your sword and I will use the gun. Understood?"
I sighed. It's not like she can go back to Japan. I can't ensure her safety getting there either. So she had to stay with me. No. She has to stay with me. I can't afford to lose her.
"You stay beside me no matter what. Is that understood, Y/N?"
"Yes, Mizu."
"Good. I don't want you wandering anywhere without me."
She nodded her head. Letting out a sigh, I extended my arm out for her. Locking her one arm around mine, we walked out of the room and towards the ball down the street. It took a lot of negotiating and talking, but Fowler was able to ensure we got in without any trouble. This was definitely going to be an interesting night. I just hope it doesn't go to shit and one of ends up injured. If anyone was going to be injured, I was going to ensure it would be me. No one lays a hand on Y/N.
Stepping into the giant castle that held the dance, I found Y/N gasping from the corner of my eye. I couldn't deny it, this place was a sight to behold. A wonder in and of itself. It made the palaces and castles back in Japan look like a house. No wonder the white people wanted to have ballroom dances every so often. They had to get use out of it. Or else there would be nothing to fill this much empty space. There were people going around with trays in their hands, some drinks on them. Y/N was about to reach for one, but I stopped her.
"You're not going to like it."
"What do you mean?"
"We're not from around here. We need to blend in. And we won't blend in if we drink their drinks and be sick all night because of it. They don't drink sake. They drink some other form of alcohol that I am not familiar with."
"Come on, Mizu. We can't indulge ourselves every once in a while?"
"Back at home, yes. But we're not at home, are we, Y/N?"
"We'll be fine," she said, removing her arm from around mine and disappearing into the crowd.
"Y/N? Y/N?! Fuck!" I darted off into the crowd, trying to find her. It should be easy, since she wasn't anywhere near as tall as the people here.
Making my way through the crowd, I still kept an eye out for Skeffington. He was tall, so that was one thing that was going for me. Everyone here was tall, which didn't help. Almost bumping into everyone there, I eventually bumped into the right person. Well, one of them.
"Pardon me," a tall man said, smoothing out his suit.
Narrowing my eyes, it was him. It was Skeffington. Fowler described him perfectly and he matched every detail. The only thing that we had in common was our height, as Fowler stated back in Japan. Standing straight up, I stuck my hand out. Peering down, Skeffington shook it.
"Pleasure," I said.
"Night is wonderful, is it not?"
"I guess you could say that," I said, turning towards the crowd of people. He did the same.
"Who wouldn't love a dance tonight? It's a perfect night to do so," he chuckled, holding a glass of something that looked to be a yellow color.
"I'm sure there are other perfect nights," I said, trying to go along with him.
"There are, but tonight is especially perfect."
"What makes you say that? I think all nights are perfect."
"Well, there are reasons to celebrate."
"Celebrate what exactly?" I slowly turned towards him.
"Does there need to be a specific reason to celebrate? We're in London!" he turned towards me.
His breath reeked of alcohol and it made me want to gag. It wasn't the best smelling alcohol, I mean, what alcohol smells good?
"Go, my friend! Dance! Celebrate!"
He shoved me towards the dance floor, which I stumbled slightly. Getting my footing, since I was not used to my entire feet being covered, I slowly started to make my way around the crowd again, trying to find Y/N. Walking through the people on the dance floor, the live band playing started to get into a slower song, one that was obviously meant for couples. Even though I didn't take it to be that kind of ball. But again, this is London. Briskly walking off the floor, someone grabbed my wrist and pulled me back on. I thought it was Y/N, but it was someone else.
"Well, aren't you a dashing young man," the woman smiled.
"I-I--uhm," I struggled to find the right words.
"Come now, don't be shy," she said. "Come take a dance with me."
"I-I must decline," I respectfully pushed her away. "I am looking for someone."
"They can wait, dear. Have a drink! Dance. Stay a while."
"I-I really must be looking for my--"
"Hey!"
Marching over was Y/N. I let out a sigh of relief as she stood in between me and the other woman.
"Well, look who came barreling in," the woman smirked, trying to be funny.
"Step away from him," she slurred.
How many drinks did she have?
"You're too drunk, hon. You should probably head home, where it's safe. You don't want anyone taking advantage of you."
"You better back the fuck up," she swayed here and there.
"Y/N," I reached over and grabbed her shoulder, pulling her towards me. "Let's get going. You need to rest."
"Hold on, Mizu. I gotta teach this bitch a lesson."
"Excuse me?" the woman gasped.
I couldn't help but smile. Who knew Y/N was a protective drunk. I just hope she doesn't pull out the gun on this woman.
"Yeah. You heard me. You're a bitch. But not like those big ones that are scary. More like those little ones that are yappy. Annoying to listen and look at."
The woman scoffed, "I'll have you know--"
"'i'Ll HaVe YoU kNoW'," Y/N said in a mocking tone.
I placed my hand over my mouth, trying not to laugh at the situation.
"What are you laughing at?" the woman pointed a finger at me.
"I-I'm sorry," I said.
"Hey, don't point your finger at him. Only I can do that."
"What? You order around this stick of a man?"
"I'll have you know, Mizu is not a stick of a man. He's quite athletic."
"Oh, now why don't we have a look see," the woman stepped closer to Mizu.
"Hey, back off. No one touches him other than me."
"And does he like touching you when you're drunk?"
"Fuck yeah. We get down and dirty," she started to thrust her hips and some blush started to crawl onto my cheeks.
The woman was disgusted and walked off. Y/N turned to face me, perking up and smiling at me.
"Were you drunk?"
"No," she said.
"So you acted drunk?"
"Yep," she flashed a proud smile. "No one touches my Mizu."
A soft smile appeared as I took her hand, "And no one touches my Y/N."
The music started to slow down to a soft melody, one where someone could fall asleep to, or dance to. Still holding her hand, I bowed to her.
"May I have this dance, Y/N?"
"Of course, Mizu."
We walked out onto the dance floor and danced with the other people there. My one arm wrapped around her waist while her one arm wrapped around my neck, the tips of her fingers digging into the back of my hairline. Our other hands intertwined with one another's and we started to spin and sway with the music. She leaned her body into me, the side of her head nuzzling against mine. I smiled, closing my eyes, enjoying this moment together. It was rare for us to get any semblance of peace. Tonight was going to be that night where we relished it in. In each other.

Stay With Me
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mizu X Fem!Reader CW: N/A WC: 1.3k+
My arms wrapped around her waist tightly as I held her close to me. My face was tucked against her neck, taking in her scent of blood and the natural elements. Even after numerous times of bathing, she could never get that stale iron smell off of her. It was odd at first, since it came off so strong, but it eventually died down to where it was comforting now. Because I know she's here with me. And I am here with her, holding her. Taking in a deep breath, I let out an exhale as she shifted ever so slightly. Pulling away to tilt my head up, her eyes blinked open and she looked down at me.
"Morning, Mizu," I smiled.
"Morning, Y/N," she said and rested her head on top of mine.
I knew what this meant. She had to get going. She had her mission to do. I didn't want her to go. I wanted her to stay here with me. Stay here and create a life. I knew she tried to do that before, but it was with someone who she tried to love, but didn't love her back in some areas of who she was. He called her a monster when she showed her true self. Pulling her closer to me, my arms got tighter around her, never wanting to let her go.
"Y/N," she whispered.
"Please, Mizu. Just five more minutes."
"I need to get going."
"Please," I pleaded, tears forming in my eyes as I clutched the fabric of her kimono she wore at night.
"Five more minutes."
Letting out a sigh, silent sobs escaped. Her one hand reached into my hair and started to pet at it, her other hand running up and down my back.
"Shh," she cooed. "I promise I will be back afterwards."
"You better," I said, trying not to let out a sob.
"I promise."
The five minutes went too quickly and Mizu finally got up. I sat up and she cupped my face in her hands, wiping the tears away.
"Don't cry. It ruins your beautiful face."
"I-I just don't want you to go."
"I know, Y/N. I know. But I must."
"I'll get breakfast and some onigiri ready for you."
"You don't need to do that."
"I want to, Mizu. You'll be out on the road eating some cheap stuff. Nothing beats a homemade meal."
"Nothing beats your homemade meals."
A small smile spread across my face, but it soon faded as she leaned forward to place a kiss to my forehead.
"Do you need help with your bindings?"
"Please," she said.
We both knew she was capable of doing it herself, but whenever she left and I didn't want her to go, she'd let me do it. We'd squeeze out any remaining time we had left with one another as much as we could. Removing her kimono, I grabbed the bandages that she uses. Stepping behind her, she sat on her knees. Moving her arms away from the side of her body, I placed one end of the gauze against her chest. She held it in place as I continued to wrap it around her chest tightly, but not too tight.
"Is this tight enough?" I asked.
"Yeah. It's perfect."
"Not too loose?"
"No."
"Are you sure?"
She nodded her head. I tightened it slightly, but not enough to where it was noticeable. Finishing her bindings, she turned and wrapped her arms around my waist, tucking her face into my stomach. My hands ran through her black hair, feeling how silky it was despite it rarely getting washed. More tears slid down my face as we held onto one another like this for a bit.
"Can I also do your hair?"
She nodded her head. Turning around once more, I knelt down and gathered her hair. Smirking, I let it go and started to braid it.
"Y/N," she said.
"Just let me do this real quick."
"I really need to get going."
"Please, Mizu. Just entertain me."
She chuckled, shaking her head, "Fine."
I braided her hair, but it wasn't tight or anything. Just loose enough to where it would maintain its form for a bit before falling back to its natural length. When it did, I finally gathered her hair up and put it in a ponytail. Once I had finished with her hair, I pressed a kiss to her head before heading into the kitchen.
"Thank you," she said.
I smiled at her, "You're welcome, Mizu."
Getting the fire started, I placed the kettle over it and let the tea get warmed up. I started getting breakfast ready for her and once that was cooking, I got to making the onigiri for her trip. While I was lost in thought, she came up behind me and wrapped her arms around my waist, resting her head on my shoulder. Holding me close to her, I reached up and wrapped my arm around her head, playing with her small ponytail. Turning to face her, she pressed her forehead against mine.
"I really want to stay," she whispered, her lips pressing every word against mine.
"I wish you could stay, too," I said.
Our lips were almost touching, as they were close enough to where I could feel them graze across mine. Setting down the spoon I was using, I turned and placed my hands against her cheeks. Pressing my lips against hers, I held her close as we kissed. Parting, she leaned in for another, followed by a second, then a third. They were little pecks, her lips constantly chasing after mine.
"M-Mizu," I giggled as she went to pepper my face with little pecks before dipping into the crook of my neck.
She pressed soft, long kisses against my neck as she held me close.
"Mizu," I breathed out softly.
"I'm going to miss you."
"You don't have to go," I said.
"I know. But I need to."
"I understand," I ran my hand up and down her back.
Pulling away, she placed one last kiss to my cheek before heading over to the table. I finished making the onigiri and packed it to go. Joining her at the table, I poured the tea and handed her a large bowl. We prayed before eating together in comfortable silence. When she finished, which took quite longer than normal, she stood up. I had yet to finish and seeing that, she sat back down.
"You can head out, Mizu."
"I'll wait until you're finished eating."
"I'll be a while," I said.
"Then I can wait."
I smiled, eating at a quick pace so I don't keep her longer. Finishing, she grabbed my bowl and set them in the giant pot of water to be washed. Standing, I went and fetched her cloak that was hanging by the door. She was about to put her scarf on, but I offered her mine.
"I-I can't take your scarf, Y/N."
"I insist, Mizu. You'll have a piece of me with you."
"I always carry a piece of you with me," she placed her hand over her heart.
Blush crawled onto my cheeks and tears started to form. Shaking them away, I put the cloak around her, making sure it covered her shoulders and chest. She put her scarf on and I handed her a small bag that held the box of onigiri. She took it and opened the door, slipping her Kasa down to where the string was around her neck, the hat resting against the back of her head instead of on top.
"Be safe out there, Mizu," I said.
"I will, Y/N," she leaned towards me and pressed a warm kiss to my cheek.
"Promise you'll come back to me."
"Always," she said.
Straightening out her clothing, I wanted this moment to last for a few seconds longer. As long as it meant I could see her before she had to leave for an indefinite amount of time. Letting out a sigh, she set down the box and pulled me into a hug.
"I really want you to stay."
"If I stay, I won't be able to fulfill my mission."
"I know, Mizu. I-I just," I couldn't find the words.
"I know," she said.
Pulling away, I gave her one last kiss before she parted ways. Grabbing the box, she pulled her hat up and waved goodbye to me.
"I love you, Mizu!" I called out to her as she was leaving.
Spinning and walking backwards, she blew me one last kiss, "I love you, too, Y/N."

Not Alone
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mizu X Fem!Reader CW: Bit of angst WC: 1.4k+
"I'm on the path of revenge. There's no room for love, friendship, or weakness. Now, I have a man to kill," Mizu said as she walked away from me.
Where was she going to? I know she was going to Fowler's castle, but alone?
"Alone?" I asked her.
"Yes. Alone," she said.
"After all we've been through," I said.
She stopped and turned her head over her shoulder, "Do yourself a favor, Y/N, forget all about me. Go back home, where you'll live a nice and happy life, marry a nice man, and live a life that isn't drenched in blood and hatred."
"What if I don't want that?"
"What?"
"What if I don't want to marry a nice man? What if I don't want to get married at all?"
She turned her body to face me, "Y/N, what the hell are you saying?"
"I want to be with you, Mizu. No matter what."
She shook her head, "You deserve someone better than me. Someone who will actually love you."
"So your feelings towards me weren't real?" I asked, my voice breaking slightly.
"T-That's not what I meant. I-I," she stopped, her eyes moving back and forth before she shook her head once more. "My feelings for you were real. I-I just can't understand them at this current moment in time. I-I can't love you because of my revenge. I want to love you, but I-I just can't."
"You're going to get yourself killed," I said.
"Better die trying," she said and turned around, stumbling off.
"I hope to never see your face again, Mizu!" I yelled, knowing deep down, that wasn't true.
She stopped just for a moment, but then started to walk off again. Tears streamed down my face as I sat down on some steps that were beside me. Ringo came over and offered comfort as he placed one of his arms on my back.
"Are you going to be ok, Y/N?" Ringo asked.
"I'll be fine," I sighed, standing up. "If Mizu is going to get himself killed, he'll get himself killed."
I walked off in the opposite direction of Mizu, even though she was long gone. Although, I couldn't help but turn back to look in the direction she walked off in. Even though she wasn't going  to be there and wasn't going to come back. Shaking my head, I turned and continued to walk off in the opposite direction.
"Is Mizu dead?" I looked at Ringo as he was carrying a cart with Taigen and Mizu's body on it.
"I'm too scared to look."
I turned and faced Mizu, her chest slowly rising and falling. Taigen's was too. I let out a sigh of relief, but I walked off, Ringo following behind me.
"Do you know where to get help?" Ringo asked.
"I do."
Reaching a lone forge in the middle of the woods, I started to bang on the door of Master Eiji's.
"Hello? Master Eiji? W-We need your help. Mizu is not in the best shape."
There was nothing. Ringo sighed and I turned towards the cart. Grabbing her sword, I hit it against the ground, an odd ringing coming from it. The door opened and Master Eiji's head emerged.
"Mizu. Come inside."
Ringo grabbed the cart and wheeled the two inside.
"Master Eiji, Mizu is in bad shape. Along with Taigen."
"Do you know how to treat wounds?"
"Yes."
"Then get to treating," he said, starting a fire.
Ringo started to make some medicine for both of them while I started with Taigen first, since his injuries were more severe. Ringo came over and stitched up Mizu's wounds since I was still working on Taigen.
"Who knew one man could bleed so much," I said as I wiped the blood from his body before stitching the wounds.
Once we were finished, we let them rest for a while. It was Mizu who came to first and she was starting to walk around the forge. I almost bumped into her when I was bringing in wood for the fire. Her eyes had a pang of guilt in them. Turning away from me, she stepped aside so I could walk into the forge.
A few days had passed and Mizu was still not talking to me. She was off doing something with her sword and whenever we passed by, she would avoid looking at me. I think she wanted to say something, but didn't know what. She infuriated me at times, but she couldn't help it. Her past was a rocky one and it was justified. I just hate it when we're not talking to one another.
"Y/N?" she came to me one night.
Looking up at her, there was a guilty expression on her face as she sat down in front of me.
"Now you want to talk to me?"
"I am sorry," she said. "Sorry for everything I said."
I sighed and shook my head, "I can help, Mizu."
"I know you can, but I can't afford to lose you. N-Not after everything you have ever done for me."
"Mizu," I reached for her hand, but she pulled it away.
"You deserve someone better. Someone who will actually love you and will show you that they love you. Someone that deserves your love."
"And why do you think you're not deserving of my love?"
"Look what I said to you before I left. I basically told you I didn't love you and that you don't deserve me."
"You did say that," I said in a flat tone.
"And I meant it. You really do deserve someone who will truly love you."
"I always thought you truly loved me."
"I do," she quickly argued back. "I-It's just that, fuck."
"Mizu, you're not an easy person to love. And you're not an easy person to show love. But there is one thing I do know about you."
"What's that?"
"You know what you want. Easily. And when you don't know what you want, you come to terms with it and think it over. So all I ask of you is one thing."
"What is it?"
"Think us over," I said and stood up, walking out of the forge.
The following night was back to us not speaking. I wasn't surprised. I did kind of tell her to fuck off without telling it to her face. She still needed to reforge her sword and from what I saw the other day, it wasn't working out well for her. But when I saw smoke rising from the woods, I knew she was back at it. Sighing, I was about to step outside to get some wood for Master Eiji, but I saw her walking towards me. She had her blue haori on and her hair was down to its natural length. I have only ever seen it once and she was absolutely stunning when she let it down. There was writing all over her body.
"Y/N?"
"Yes?"
"Do you know the Heart Sutra?"
"The body is emptiness, an emptiness body. All things are only empty. Nothing is born, nothing broken."
She nodded her head. Raising her hand, she offered me a brush. Grabbing it, she turned around, her back facing me. The haori slid from her shoulders, revealing her bare back.
"There are some things I can't do alone," she said.
Raising the brush, I wrote the words of the Heart Sutra on her back.
"Mizu," I said as I began writing.
"I have been thinking, about us."
"What were you thinking about?"
"I still believe you deserve better. That you are deserving of someone who will love you back. But, maybe once this is all said and done, I can be that person who gives you that love. Shows you what it is like to be loved by someone."
"Mizu, you're the one who needs to be shown what it is like to be loved by someone."
"And that someone, I want it to be you."
I smiled slightly, finishing up. She turned to face me and I placed the brush down on the fence post. Taking her face in my hands, I brushed the soft skin with the pad of my thumb. Thankfully the ink was dry on her face or I would have to redo it for her. I smiled at her and she smiled in return. Pulling her towards me, our lips lightly met one another's. It was just a quick peck, nothing more from it. I pecked her lips a few times before she pulled away.
"I-I need to get back to reforging my sword."
"About that," I reached into my pocket and placed something in her hand.
Her eyes widened to find it was the necklace she had gotten me whenever we first started this relationship.
"Y/N," she said, picking her head up.
"I loved that necklace. Truly I did. But, it was a sign of our love back then. Let it be the reason you're able to forge a stronger sword."
She smiled once more, nodding her head.
"You're not alone in this, Mizu," I said, placing my hand on her cheek once more.
She reached up and grabbed my hand, caressing the skin with her fingers.
"I know," she pressed a soft kiss to my palm. "I have you."
"You always had."

I was doing some thinking during class one day and thought to myself: the onryo depicted in Japanese myth are usually tied with women. And how they're women who were wronged in life and want revenge by seeking death of others. And if Mizu is often associated with an onryo, as people have called her an onryo not only to her face but behind her back, wouldn't they connect the dots? (Ex: Akemi watched a show about a Ronin marrying a Bride who then turned into an onryo. And then they cut back and forth between Mizu and the onryo. Something should have went off in Akemi's mind.)
Like in the way of there really isn't a male onryo or male depictions of an onryo. It's just something to think about since only two people know Mizu is a woman and one was by accident and another by putting two and two together.

Mizu X Fem!Reader CW: Blood WC: 1.2k+
"Where is she, Ringo?!" I yelled at him, frustrated.
"I-I don't know. All I know is that some group of people came and took her. Taigen followed after them probably to save her."
"He's going to get himself killed," I sighed, grabbing my sword. "Point me in the direction of where they went."
"I am coming with you."
"I cannot allow it."
"An apprentice never leaves his master side."
I glared over at Ringo, "This could possibly be a life or death situation. And Y/N is already in trouble. I can't afford to possibly lose another person close to me, Ringo."
His eyes widened slightly, a sparkle in them. Grabbing my cloak, I placed it on my shoulders and secured it. The last thing I needed to put on were my glasses. As soon as everything was in place, I slid open the door to the house I came to grow accustomed to. It was Y/N's idea to settle down after my revenge mission. And here we are. We were living in a peaceful house not too far from Kyoto, but that peace would soon be disrupted after what these people did with Y/N.
"And besides, if she and Taigen managed to escape, you'll be here waiting for them. To greet them with tea and a nice meal."
Ringo nodded his head, "Just be careful out there, master."
I nodded to Ringo before heading out to who knows where. I had to get information first. That was going to be the hardest part, but as I was making my way towards Kyoto, I found a trail of footprints. The downside of it being winter, but it was possibly going to help me in the long run. Following the footprints, they went in the opposite direction of Kyoto.
Quickening my pace, I stuck to the footprint trail until they stopped. Lying ahead of me was a small little wooden building. It reminded me of the one I stopped at when I was searching for the white men that sold opium. The day where I got stabbed and was severely wounded. Shaking those memories away, I carefully crept towards the building. There was laughter ringing from inside. The door was slightly cracked open. Silently walking towards the door, I pushed it open just to see what I was dealing with. There were four guys. Y/N and Taigen were tied up and kneeling in front of the fireplace. I let out a quiet sigh, knowing I'd have to save Tiagen's ass. He was more than capable of dealing with these guys himself, but alas, Mizu to the rescue. Again.
I couldn't go in there and start swinging. I didn't want to hurt Y/N. Taigen, I could afford to, but at this current moment in time, I didn't want either of them to be used as collateral. I had to think of a way to get at least one of the guys out of here to open up the spacing. I've fought in tighter spaces before, but again, I didn't have to worry about two lives in there. One I cherished, the other, eh. Turning, I got an idea. I stood up and stomped down the stairs, quickly hiding underneath them.
"What was that?"
"Go check."
The door opened and footsteps came from above me. The guy turned, trying to find signs of life nearby. When he had his back, I unsheathed my sword and immediately stuck it in his back, the blade protruding from his chest. I placed my hand over his mouth, silencing any sound that would come from him. Once his body stopped writhing, I let his body fall to the ground, catching the attention of another guy that was in there. I jumped back underneath the stairs as he walked down them, finding his comrade's dead body.
"Hey! Get out here!"
The other two came out and that was when I let loose. All of them were away from Y/N and Taigen. I had free reign to kill anyway I see fit. Coming up from behind the one, I thrusted my sword into his neck. Removing my sword, I kicked his body as he was falling onto the ground. Now there were two. One pulled out a dagger. I just scoffed and charged towards him. He jabbed at me, trying to get my shoulder. I dodged out of the way and went down for a slash. The diagonal cut caused his body to slip into two, falling onto the snow ridden ground, turning the once peaceful white a dark shade of red. Finding the last guy who was there raised his hands as he trembled.
"P-Please, spare me."
I sheathed my sword and walked over to him, stepping over the dead bodies on the ground. Grabbing the front of his haori, I pulled him towards me.
"Why did you capture her? Was it because Heiji Shindo died? Let the Shogun die while I couldn't stop Fowler at that instance? Was it because I killed those white men?"
"W-We needed the money."
"Flesh traders," I snarled. "How did you find us?"
"People in Kyoto talked about a beautiful woman that lived on the outskirts of the city. There were a couple people we had to look out for, more specifically you, but once we saw she was alone, we took her and ran."
"Was this the rendezvous point?"
"Yes."
"Who was going to buy from you?"
"I-I don't know. I swear. All we were given was that they were anonymous."
"I see."
I let his haori go. Right when he thought he was spared, I kicked the dagger up from the last guy I killed and tossed it in his direction, getting him right in the neck. His body slowly fell to the ground and I stood outside, waiting for this person to come. They never came. Walking up the stairs, a small knife was thrown my way when I opened the door. Quickly dodging it, I found Taigen had released Y/N from her bindings.
"Mizu!" she cried, getting up and rushing towards me.
I rushed towards her as well, embracing her tightly as she threw herself into my arms. I let out a sigh of relief, knowing she was safe in my arms.
"I'll give you a minute alone," Taigen said.
"Taigen," I pulled away for a moment to place a hand on his shoulder. "Thank you for trying to ensure her safety."
"We may not get along, Mizu, but I can tell where your priorities lie. And they're good ones," Taigen said as he walked out of the small building.
I nodded as he walked out, about to turn to face Y/N. She placed her hands on my cheeks and pulled me in for a kiss. I smiled softly as I wrapped my arms around her waist as I kissed her back. I pulled away, but she chased after for another. She got what she wanted. It was followed by a few more before she was satisfied.
Pulling away, there were tears in her eyes as she hugged me tightly. I hugged her as equally tight, my one hand running up the backside of her head, my fingers getting entangled in her hair. She let out a sigh of relief as her shoulders trembled.
"Shh, you're safe, Y/N," I whispered in her ear, kissing the side of her head softly. "You're always safe with me."

Soft Kisses
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mizu X Fem!Reader CW: N/A WC: 1.0k+ A/N: Hope y'all like a sh!t ton of fluff!
Blinking my eyes open, I found a rare sight before me. Mizu. Asleep. Peacefully. Usually she'd wake up from a nightmare or something would cause her to stir awake, preventing her from falling back asleep. In turn, it would wake me up, getting me an early start to the day. She'd always feel bad about waking me up earlier than I'd like to, but I didn't mind. Especially if she woke up from a nightmare. She went on for so long without getting comfort and whenever I offered it for the first time, she didn't understand it. She left and didn't come back until sundown. It worried me, but after each time I helped her calm down, she finally understood what comfort felt like. Unconditional love and comfort.
Finding her asleep put a smile on my face. I carefully reached over and brushed a few strands of hair away from her face. Her long, black hair that didn't always look black. There were some times it looked brown to where I questioned what color it was. Maybe it turned black in the summer and brown in the winter. Or vice versa. It was something of the sorts.
The brushing of my finger pad over her skin caused her to blink her eyes open. I smiled wider as I was met with those alluring blue eyes of hers. The one thing she hated about herself, but one of many things that made me love her.
"Morning, Mizu."
A small smile crept on her lips as she reached up, taking my hand, "Morning."
Oh that raspy morning voice. I can't tell if it was her natural morning voice or the one she uses to disguise herself. Either way, it sent a chill up my spine, causing the hairs at the back of my neck to stand up.
"Anything planned for today?"
"Unless Taigen comes unprompted again, no. Other than just spending another lovely day with you at my side."
"Oh, Mizu," I playfully pushed her.
She was never one to be flirty or romantic, not at the beginning, anyway. It was hard for her to show love, but she knew I understood it took her a while. Her past relationship wasn't the best on her, so when we started ours together, it was a long road of being cautious with her. She was cautious around me as well, but I had to know her triggers and what set her off. And they were very easy to know. But the one thing that didn't trigger her was whenever I complimented her eyes. At times, I'd find her standing there, confused on why I said that. She had to process that someone in this world actually enjoyed looking at her eyes. And didn't scrutinize her for them. Didn't call her names that weren't true. That someone was actually capable of loving that part of her that she despises.
"I'm being honest," she said.
"I know you are," I said and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
Some blush crawled over her cheeks as I did that. Another thing about Mizu: she's easily flustered. Especially when I show her any form of affection aside from holding her hand. And we weren't even out in public. If I were to kiss her cheek whenever we were strolling around a village, her red nose would turn even more red and her cheeks would turn a light pink. It was easily noticeable if you were looking right at her, but if you were just walking by, you'd think it was the cold getting to her. But it wouldn't be the excuse for the spring and summer. She'd blame it on allergies in the spring and the heat in the summer.
"Can we stay like this for a little longer?" Mizu asked.
"Of course, Mizu. You don't need to ask to stay with me."
"I-I just feel like I need to. In case you had something planned for today."
"Other than spending my day with you, I didn't have anything planned."
"Good," she mumbled, pulling me closer to her, burying her face in the crook of my neck.
I smiled and wrapped my arms around her, brushing at the long strands of hair. I rested my head on top of hers, holding her tightly as she would place light and soft kisses to my neck. I giggled quietly as she did that, which led her to pull away and look at me.
"Is something wrong?" she asked.
"Nope," I said, cupping her cheeks, pulling her towards me.
"Why are you staring?"
"I can't admire you?"
She shrugged, "Never really had someone do that."
"I'll be the first."
"If you'll be the last, too," Mizu smiled.
"Of course, Mizu."
I leaned towards her, placing a gentle kiss to her nose, both of her cheeks, her forehead, and finishing it off, I placed one to her lips. Pulling away after a few moments, Mizu smiled at me once more, her eyes appearing to be brighter than their darker shades whenever she's angry or pissed off. I loved that about her eyes, too, how different they can look depending on what mood she is in. The one where she wants revenge is the most horrifying, yet, all the more beautiful.
The pad of my thumb caressed the skin underneath her eye, as I stared into them, longing for this moment to last forever and ever. To return the favor, Mizu leaned towards me and pressed a kiss to my forehead, to my cheeks, and along my jawline she could reach before leaving one on my lips behind.
How could such a woman who is filled with revenge and hate be so kind and gentle? Soft one minute, a raging storm the next. I don't know how she did it. It amazed me. It made me want to know more about her, even though I knew every little detail about her. But there are still things she keeps in the dark from me, which I don't mind. They're mostly the darkest thoughts she has ever experienced. A different side of her that she never wants anyone to see, not even me. A part of her she wants to bury deep within herself in the hopes of being forgotten.
That aside, I pulled her towards me, this time, being the one to bury my face in the crook of her neck. I let out a sigh as I took in her warmth, despite her being one that lacks a lot of it with how skinny and somewhat malnourished she was. That we were working on, but I can't force her to eat if she doesn't want to.
"I love you, Mizu."
"I love you, too, Y/N."

Masquerade
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mizu X Fem!Reader CW: N/A WC: 1.2k+
"Why are you dragging me along to this?" I asked Akemi.
"Who doesn't love a masquerade ball?"
"People who don't like dances and crowds," I said.
"You'll love it," Akemi said. "I heard someone you like is going to be there."
"More like someone you like."
"Taigen," she smiled. She's had eyes on him for the past few months and they even shared a class together.
"How come you haven't made a move on him?"
"Just want to make sure he's the right one."
"Akemi, you're not going to know if he's the right one by just ogling at him."
"You can never know until you try. Anyway, are you ready? Have your mask?"
"Yes," I showed it to her.
"Need me to tie it for you?"
"You can when we get there."
Leaving our dorm room, we headed down to where the masquerade ball was going to be. It was one last dance before the graduating seniors left. This is what they do for the seniors every spring. Reaching the building, Akemi and I walked up to a group of her friends. They welcomed me, since I was kind of lonely. I didn't mind her friends, but sometimes they were a bit too loud here and there. Before stepping into the room, Akemi helped me put the mask on and that was when Taigen and his friends walked by. Akemi, being Akemi, dropped what she was doing to stare at him.
The mask fell from my face and I fumbled to catch it. It fell onto the ground, bouncing slightly away from me. Sighing, I walked over and went to grab it, when someone already did for me. Following their hand up from their arm, I found the person who picked it up. They had on a typical suit, but without the jacket. White button down with a black vest and a dark blue tie. And their hair was pulled down into a ponytail that rested on their shoulder. What intrigued me was the mask he was wearing. It took on the typical appearance, where it only covered the eyes, but its design was completely different. Instead of intricate designs with lace and other fabric, and with feathers adorning it, this mask was painted to match a phoenix's feathers. And right at the top sides of the mask were horns jutting upwards. And the eyes were completely unseen. The only thing about their face I could see was their mouth.
"You dropped this," he said.
"T-Thanks," I said, taking the mask.
"You look," it looked like he eyed me up and down as his head tilted up and then down. "Stunning."
"Thank you. And you're handsome yourself."
He smiled before entering the room. Akemi came over to me, apologizing for stopping in the middle of tying the mask.
"Who was that? Do you know him?" I asked Akemi.
"Only his name. Mizu."
"Mizu," I repeated. It was like a stinging sensation on my tongue when I said his name. Intoxicating.
"Yeah. He and Taigen are on the fencing team and he has beat him numerous times," Akemi said with some spite in her voice. "And Taigen is the best."
"Clearly he isn't when Mizu has beat him over and over."
"It doesn't matter. Mizu isn't really a valuable member on the team since they hardly use him."
"Only unless they need to," one of Akemi's friends said.
"Ise!" Akemi scolded her.
"Wait, what do you mean by that?"
"There was a competition they were losing at. Taigen was growing frustrated and even had some penalties called on him. Their last resort was to put Mizu in. He won against every opponent and won for the team."
"And what did they do?"
"Just gave him a pat on the back and then celebrated without him."
"Of course," I whispered.
Once we all had our masks on, we walked into the room where the music was blaring, the lights were dim, and there were a number of people in there. Some were already on the dance floor while others were drinking and talking to their friends. There was a large balloon being tossed around.
I tried to find Mizu, but the room was so dark that I couldn't even tell where Akemi went. Wandering around, I eventually found her and her friend group at a table. I sat down with them and they began talking before getting something to drink. I let out a sigh, not wanting to be here and rather be in my room reading. Or something more productive instead of sitting here on my phone. A slow song came on and all the couples started to get onto the dance floor. Typical.
I picked my head up and watched as Akemi and Taigen walked onto the floor. Well, seems she made her move tonight. I smiled, happy for her. Her friends seemed to be happy as well as they were cheering her on. They formed a small circle and danced with one another. It reminded me of high school when those who didn't have dates would form a circle and sway with the music together. I was one of those people, of course.
"Excuse me."
Turning, I found it was Mizu standing before me. Reaching out a shaking hand, he bowed slightly.
"May I have this dance?"
"O-Of course."
I set my phone down and placed my hand in his. Standing up, we walked onto the dance floor and started to sway with the music.
"I apologize in advance, I am not the best when it comes to dancing and rhythm."
I smiled. Not only was he strong and powerful, but he was a dork. It made my heart flutter.
"Don't worry. Neither am I."
"So, what brings you out here?" he asked.
"Akemi wanted to go to this and kind of forced me to go. You?"
"As stupid as it sounds, I'll be getting extra credit for attending. One of the graduating seniors is on the fencing team. He is the one who organized the event. So our coach made us come here."
"And you'll get extra credit?" I chuckled.
"Something like that. I don't know how I'll be getting extra credit for a team sport."
"Your coach is kind of dumb."
"I know," he sighed. Even if I couldn't see his eyes, I could tell he rolled them.
"How come you hide your eyes?" I asked.
"My eyes are hideous and therefore, it makes me hideous."
"I doubt that," I said.
"Want to see for yourself?"
"Unless you turn me to stone, I don't want to," I chuckled.
He smiled, "I promise I won't turn you to stone. But we do need to head out if you want to see it with better lighting."
"There's no re-entry if we leave."
"And?" Mizu asked. "I was put down for that extra credit the minute I showed up. I don't need to stay here any longer than I have to."
"Then why ask me to dance?"
"Seemed lonely. And in need of someone."
I smiled softly at him. Once the song ended, I headed back to the table to grab my phone and walked out of the room with him. Now that I got him in better lighting, there was something oddly feminine about him. Maybe it was his waist and how it was kind of curvy. As I was facing his back, he reached up and untied the mask that was around his face. Turning around, I was met with the most beautiful set of blue eyes I have ever seen. They reminded me of the ocean and how mysterious it was, yet it was beautiful.
"They're blue," I said.
"Yeah," he lowered his head, looking ashamed of the color.
"They're beautiful."
Lifting his head up, his eyes widened.
"Um," his face flushed a light pink. "T-Thank you."
"You're welcome, Mizu."
"How do you know my name? I don't even know yours."
"Akemi knows of you. And my name is Y/N."
"Beautiful name," he said.
"Thank you," now it was my turn for my face to turn a light pink.
"Will I see you around?" Mizu asked.
I nodded my head, "I'm sure you will."

Smile
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mizu x Fem!Reader CW: N/A WC: 1.1k+
A very rare moment, yet fleeting one, was seeing Mizu smile. An even more rare moment was hearing her laugh. And when she did either of them, I cherished it. I cherished those moments with her because she has not known peace in a long time and for her to be loose and at peace like that, it meant everything to me. For her to be like that in front of me, I wanted to rid of every thing that would stand in her way just to ensure she could smile and laugh on a normal basis. But with her past, it was hard to come by.
She'd have spells of nightmares where she'd remember those times of her youth and her previous relationship. To when both her husband and mother betrayed her in a sense. It took a long time for her to trust me, but I had shown her time and time again that I would never betray her. Not even after she left for London and didn't return for a very long time. I was just worried sick. And when she did return, it was a moment of relief for her and I. Now we could settle down for a bit, but it was hard for her to return to a peaceful life after living one in constant fear and blood.
Upon her night returning home to me, we celebrated well into the late night and early morning. But it wasn't the typical celebration that most would think. It was just her and I, sitting, drinking tea and her recounting the events that happened in London and beyond. How she had to adapt to not only the clothing style, but the fighting style. Like Fowler brought guns to Japan, London was more technologically advanced for the time period. So it was hard for her to fight at times. I remember the one conversation we had when she came back.
"Holding a gun is easy, being able to shoot one off is hard," she said, staring into her reflection of the tea. "A gun makes killing people a lot easier than a sword or a spear ever could."
"Is it because there's no effort into it?"
"It's like what Swordfather told me. A sword is a line between life and death. A gun takes lives easier than a sword. I have to put in the effort because I know that if I don't, I will get hurt. Or even killed."
"But you were successful."
"That I was," she said, sipping her tea.
I smiled, "I knew you had it in you."
She smirked, "What are you talking about? Are you saying you doubted me?"
"Who knows? Maybe I was," I chuckled.
That smirk turned into a smile, and before I knew it, it turned into a small chortle. My heart fluttered as she tried to hide that smile behind the cup of tea. Reaching over, I lowered it and found her smile. The smile that always made my heart soar whenever I saw it. The smile I loved seeing and whenever I do, makes me realize how much I love her. How I have fallen head over heels for her the minute I saw her take down Taigen with ease.
"Mizu," I whispered.
"Yes, Y/N?" she asked, her smile still lingering as we found one another's eyes.
It was that night when we slept together in a long time. A mess of wrapped up and entangled limbs. Just how I liked it. And in the morning, it was even better knowing that she didn't have to leave, but she still trained. She didn't have to anymore, but she still wanted to retain that talent she had with the sword. And I'd sit and watch her from the porch as she swung her sword with ease. Moving back and forth fluidly like water. Like her name.
For the most part, after she returned home, was the same thing day in and out. Wake up in the morning, eat breakfast, she'd go train, and then I'd do some things around the house. It was a routine both of us had to get used to. But spending it with Mizu made it all the more better.
"Mizu?" I asked one night while we were eating dinner together.
"Yeah?"
"What do you have planned for the future?"
She coughed slightly on her tea. Removing the cup from her mouth, she patted her chest before clearing her throat.
"I-I didn't really have any plans. T-The last time I settled down, it didn't go well."
"I know," I said.
"I just need to be prepared for anything that comes our way."
"Do you think people will come after you again?"
"I don't know," she shook her head. "But you can never be too sure."
"Do you worry about me turning you in?" I asked after some silence had passed.
"Never. I never worry about that."
I let out a sigh of relief, knowing that she can still trust me.
"Even if someone tried to get information out of me, I'd never tell them anything."
"If someone so much as touches you in a malicious way, they are losing their hand without a second thought."
Her face turned serious, almost like a scowl. I sat there, blinked a few times before my lips cracked into a smile. Soon, I started to giggle, and then that turned into full on laughter.
"Did I say something funny?" she asked, tilting her head to the side.
"No," I smiled. "It's just that, you'd go to great lengths to keep me safe."
"Why wouldn't I?"
I shrugged, still smiling. "Never really thought I'd find someone who would want to protect me."
"Y/N," she set her tea cup down and grabbed my hands. "If there was ever a reason I needed to raise my sword and take a life, you're that reason. My mission may be over. My path of revenge has finally stopped and there was so much blood on my hands. But, I put that behind me. It's over and done with. I don't even want to raise my blade to another person's neck. Unless I have to. I have a new mission now. A new path. A path of a protector. Protecting you."
A soft smile appeared on my lips as tears started to form in my eyes. She removed her hands from mine and cupped my face softly, wiping the tears away. Leaning towards me, she lightly placed her lips against mine. My eyes fluttered closed and I melted into the kiss. It only lasted a few seconds until she pulled away, pulling me into her embrace.
"I never want to lose you," she whispered, her voice cracking slightly. "I think I'd lose myself if I lost you."
"I'll never leave you, Mizu. And I know you'll do anything to keep me safe."
"I will do anything."
Pulling away, I reached up and placed my hand against her cheek, entranced by those blue eyes of hers. How they popped out against the firelight that flickered beside her.
"I love you, Mizu."
A very soft and gentle smile appeared on her lips. Tears formed in her eyes as she pressed her forehead against mine.
"I love you, too, Y/N."

Girl With The Wave Tattoo
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mizu X Fem!Reader CW: None WC: 1.5k+
"Hottie alert," my friend tapped me on the back of my arm.
My back was facing the customers as they were coming and going. I was doing my work while my friend was looking at the customers. I should be more specific. The attractive customers.
"If it's another athlete with the typical body, I am not turning around."
"No, it's your kind of hottie."
"If this is another prank I swear I am going to--" I immediately shut up as I was face to face with someone who was indeed my kind of hottie.
They were tall, tall for a woman. Or at least they appeared to be a woman. It was kind of hard to tell as they were wearing cargo joggers with high-top Converse and a white tank top. There was a long chain necklace with the sword as a pendant. Finally, to top off their appearance, they had orange tinted glasses covering their eyes and a bun on the top of their head. Running up both of their arms was a sleeve tattoo of what looked to be water in the traditional Japanese art style. Similar to that of the Great Wave.
"W-What can I get for you today?" I asked.
"What kind of tea do you have?" they asked, in a bit of a raspy voice.
"We have all kinds ranging from green, black, oolong. You name it, we probably have it."
"Do you by chance have any hot matcha green tea?"
"W-We do."
"Can I get that in a large?"
"Yes. Name for the order?"
"Mizu."
"Alright. That'll be about 500 yen."
Mizu handed me a small coin and I took it from them.
"It should be out soon."
"Thanks," they walked towards the counter and waited for me to make the drink.
"So, what do you think?" my friend leaned over and asked me, whispering in my ear.
"I don't know about this one."
"What do you mean?"
"Their appearance. I can't tell if they're, you know."
"Nondescript?"
"In a sense. The bun isn't helping, but their eyes," I turned to face them.
They were reading something on their phone. As I looked closely, which is an odd feature to stare at, their fingers were thin and slender to be a man's. I mean, depending on the man, they can be long and slender. But they looked oddly feminine for someone who is trying to be neither gender. Or maybe one more so than the other. It's hard to tell. But it didn't matter. They were attractive.
"Did you at least get their name?"
"Mizu," I whispered, not wanting to confuse them with thinking their order was ready.
"Interesting name."
"I think so. Unique."
I finished making the tea for Mizu and I set it on the counter.
"Mizu?" I called out their name.
Their head picked up and they walked over to me, grabbing the cup.
"Thanks," they said, placing a couple pieces of yen in the tip jar.
"Have a nice day."
They smiled before turning around, walking off towards the door. The chime of the bell rang as the door opened.
"Is this the first time you've seen them?"
"Here?"
"Yeah."
"I've seen them in this area. I think they work at a tattoo parlor just down the road."
"Huh, interesting."
"Thinking about giving them a visit?"
"Maybe not like instantly. I think I'll give it a bit and see if they come around again."
"If you want to know that answer, talk to Ise. She hears and sees everything that goes on here."
"She doesn't come in until three, doesn't she?"
"Yes, but if text her and say you need details on one customer, she'll be here in a flash."
"I kind of don't want to because I'd rather talk to her when she's scheduled to be here."
"Suit yourself. Oh, Mr. Watari is here again. Be careful."
"I'm heading into the pantry then."
"To do what?"
"Hide from him."
After waiting a few hours, Ise came in and that was when my friend dropped the bomb on her and she came rushing over to me, excited and happy as a clam. If she was a dog, her tail would be wagging so fast she could fly off into the clouds.
"I heard you want to know something about someone."
"Mizu. I was told they work at a tattoo parlor."
"Mizu is a woman. When she's out in public or when she's in the tattoo place, she binds her chest."
"Why's that?"
"Bad history with another work place where they would only hire her if she was more masculine."
"That's backwards."
"It was."
"Is there anything else you know about her?"
"Other than she can rock two arm sleeve tattoos and make it look attractive, no. That's really it."
"Alright," I sighed.
"Why? Are you interested in her?"
"I mean, I thought I was."
"Y/N, everyone here knows you prefer women over men."
"I guess I was just ready to open the door to Mizu if she was in fact a guy. I just didn't want to jump to conclusions when I wasn't able to tell."
"You wouldn't be the first. People here had issues with her."
"Why's that?"
"She was a regular here before you started working with us. That was when she was a bit more feminine presenting. But when she started changing into what we see her normally wear, she went into the bathroom one day. It was also before we changed it to be single stalls instead of multiple. She went in to use the restroom and a mother and her young child came out, screaming at us for allowing Mizu into the bathroom. The mother thought Mizu was a man, and when explaining it to her that she is biologically female, the mother did not believe her. You'll never believe what Mizu said to the woman."
"What?"
"'Want to check yourself?'"
I almost dropped over, both Ise and my friend laughing.
"The mother was so disgusted, saying that she was being assaulted now by what Mizu said. The police got involved and after some extensive and some invasive work on Mizu, they deemed she was in fact a woman. The mother still didn't believe it."
"I feel bad for Mizu," I said.
"We all did. So whenever she comes in here, which isn't as often as before, we give her a discount on her entire order. She doesn't know that and the other customers don't know it either."
"It's hard to believe that she doesn't know."
"I'm sure she does. But she hasn't said anything about it. Although, she does tip generously."
"I think she's making it up for the many times you discounted her order."
"We just all felt bad for her and what she had to go through. Oh! I know. You should do something for her."
"What?"
"Yeah. She's going to be coming here in a few days."
"How do you know that?"
"Ise is able to track people's schedules," my friend said.
"No, I just know that Mizu is going to be tattooing a friend of mine. She comes in here whenever she has to tattoo someone."
"So I take it she was tattooing someone today."
"Yes. This is my friend's first session," Ise said. "She'll be going back in a few days to do the second session."
"I see. What should I do for Mizu?"
"Chocolate can't go wrong," my friend said.
"But she does like tea," Ise said. "When my friend goes to get her tattoos done, Mizu is always drinking tea. Mostly hot tea."
I nodded my head, "I see."
A few days had gone by and when the day Mizu was going to be making another return, I was ready. I didn't want to come off as stalkerish, which was why I had to make this perfect. When the bell rang, I picked my head up and found Mizu walking to the counter.
"Same as before?" I asked.
"How do you know?" Mizu looked at me with suspicion.
"Your order stands out."
"Does it?"
"You're the only one who orders the hot matcha green tea," I said.
"Out of all the customers here?" she perked an eyebrow.
I nodded my head, "Most people here enjoy coffee. You're the only tea person."
"Huh. I see."
"And some people here thought it would be nice to give you this," I pulled out a small bag and placed it on the counter for her.
"What's this? Was this Ise's idea?" Mizu asked.
"You know Ise?"
"She came in to accompany her friend one time. I tattoo her friend and she is getting her second session today."
"What is she getting?"
"Something similar to what I have."
Mizu turned around and moved her tank top down slightly. I poked my head over the counter and found there was a large phoenix tattoo on her back.
"It's not exactly a phoenix. Hers is going to be a turtle."
"Oh, I see."
Mizu turned around, "Thank you," she gestured to the bag. "If it was Ise's idea, I assume it will be tea."
"It was actually mine. Ise gave me the idea to give you something."
"Why's that?" she asked.
"I'm sorry, but she told me what happened to you. About the mother and child here that caused you issues."
A small smile crawled on Mizu's lips, "It was a bit of an unfortunate situation, but it just showed me that people will think what they want to think no matter what."
"Even though I don't really know you, I think you're a great person. For persevering through all of that."
"Thank you," she said.
"I-I'll get your tea ready."
"What's your name?"
"Am I not wearing my name tag?" I looked down at my apron, noticing it was gone. "Shit, I'm not."
She chuckled.
"It's Y/N," I said.
"Nice to meet you, Y/N," she said. "I hope to see you around."

Ill
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mizu x Fem!Reader CW: Death, Angst WC: 1.7k+
"Mizu!"
Lifting my head up, I found Ringo was rushing towards me. Sighing, I knew this was going to be about something that didn't matter. Something about him wanting to be a swordsman like myself. Lowering my sword, I eventually sheathed it.
"What, Ringo?"
"It's Y/N."
My face dropped and my heart sank.
"What's wrong?"
"Her and I were getting dinner ready when all of a sudden she collapsed. Taigen went to get a doctor in a nearby town."
"That's almost half a day's walk," I said and rushed back towards the house with Ringo behind me.
Reaching the house, I slid the door open and found Y/N laying on the ground. She was on her futon and a blanket wrapped around her. A cold towel was on her forehead and she looked like she was shivering. Rushing towards her, I knelt down and grabbed her hand. She was trembling. She raised her hand and placed it against my cheek.
"M-Mizu," she breathed out.
"Rest, Y/N," I said. "Please, you're going to need all the strength you can muster to fight this illness."
"Just as long as you're right beside me."
"I am not going anywhere, Y/N. You need me right now."
She smiled, "Thank the gods that Ringo was here. If he wasn't, I don't know what I would have done."
"Where was Taigen?"
"He was just walking in when I collapsed," she said.
"I'll get started on the medicine," Ringo said and walked towards the fire and pot that was steaming.
"Were you making dinner when this happened?" I asked.
"We were. She was going to grab something, but when she turned to get it, that was when she collapsed."
"It was like my entire body was on fire. I got this massive headache and then everything started to swirl and go in and out of focus."
"You're going to be ok, Y/N," I said.
Ringo came over not long after with a bowl with some lukewarm broth. I grabbed the bowl and placed the rim by her lips. She slowly lifted her head and drank the contents that was within the bowl. Once it was all finished, I wiped her lip and handed the bowl to Ringo.
"Feeling any better?"
"N-Not really."
"Is there anything I can get you, Y/N?"
"C-Could you lay with me, Mizu?"
"Of course," I said and laid down beside her.
She closed her eyes and I reached up and placed my hand on her shoulder, grasping it tightly.
"I'm here, Y/N. Don't worry. I'm not going anywhere."
"She doesn't have long left to live," the doctor said.
"What does she have?"
"A fever we have never seen. Some cases similar to hers started popping up out of no where and it ravaged an entire town. I suggest that you stay away from her."
"I am not going to stop being beside her. She needs me."
"Then you either pray to the gods that you do not get sick or you will meet the same fate as her."
"I'll do whatever it takes to ensure her last days are filled with love and joy."
The doctor bowed and I bowed to him. He exited the house and I let out a frustrated sigh. Y/N's condition has gotten worse and there was nothing we could do to bring the fever down. We tried putting her in cold baths, but it would only bring it down for a little bit, but then it'll spike right back up. Tea and the medicine Ringo provided were doing nothing. I fear the worst was going to happen sooner rather than later.
Sliding the door open, I found her lying on the ground with the back doors open. There was a slight breeze as it indicated it was slowly becoming spring. A smile was on her face. At least she was happy right now. Or trying to be happy for me. Walking over to her, I sat beside her, grabbing her hand that was underneath the blanket.
"What did the doctor say?"
"Y-You don't have much long left."
"Oh. That's a shame. I was just thinking about how we could have spent our life together."
"Y-Y/N," I said.
"Is something bothering you, Mizu?"
"I-I wasn't going to ask you this until I felt ready, but since you don't have long left, w-would you be one with me?"
"Like as in your wife?"
"Y-Yes."
A wide smile danced across her face, "Of course, Mizu. I'd love to be your wife."
"Wonderful," I smiled.
It was just only something we did together. I had a ring picked out for her and everything. I placed it on her finger and for the time we had left, I sat beside her and watched as her body started to fail on her. She wasn't able to keep foods down, not even the broth and tea. Her skin was turning red and her bones were starting to show more and more with each passing day. She barely opened her eyes and when I'd lift up her hand, the ring would slip from her finger.
"Mizu," she rasped.
"Yes, Y/N?"
"Take the ring," she said, removing it from her hand, placing it in mine. "I want you to have it."
"Y/N, you don't want to be buried with it?"
"No. What good will it do?"
"A part of me will be with you whenever you cross over with the spirits."
"But then you won't have anything of mine."
"Nonsense. I'll have your memories. The memories we shared together."
"But nothing physical. I want you to have this. Besides, nothing physical can cross over with me."
"That's true," I sighed.
"I love you, Mizu."
"I love you, too, Y/N," a tear slid down my face as I listened closely to her breathing.
"Y/N,
Things have changed since you had left. Ringo and I have tried to find purpose in our lives without you here. It drove him to wanting to learn more about medicine and try to figure out what you had and tried to find a cure. He didn't do the best, but I will give him that he is determined and always has the best interests in himself and others. I just wish you could be here with him and I to celebrate the times he has succeeded. Taigen and Akemi finally tied the knot after almost long fights here and there about Akemi's life in the future. As for me, I've tried to move on. I can't seem to. It's summer and the cherry blossoms have been replaced with green leaves, waiting for spring so they can bloom once more."
A tear slid down my face and dropped onto the parchment paper, smearing some of the ink. I sighed and shook my head, continuing to write.
"You missed the greatest cherry blossom season to date. I think you had something to do with it since you always loved admiring the cherry blossoms with me whenever we'd walk to town or just in general. It reminded me of our first date night where you and I were walking back home and there was a cherry blossom tree. You took a branch and tried to plant it in the backyard. Unfortunately it didn't grow, but you were determined to get it to grow. I should have told you I went out and bought cherry blossom seeds to plant, but I didn't want to ruin the moment. You were so happy and elated whenever you saw a sprout come out from where you planted the branch.
"That's something I'm going to miss. I'm going to miss your personality, how bright you were. How bubbly and enthusiastic you were. You turned a sad and dull moment into a much brighter one. You reminded me of Ringo a lot, trying to bring peace to a dark subject. You were everything to me, Y/N. My sun. My moon. Even my stars. And I was the sky always supporting you and letting you shine. If only you got to shine a little longer with me. Longer that we could have maybe had a family or moved into a bigger place. Who knows what the future would have looked like for us. But as for me, the future looks bleak for me. I struggle to sleep. I see you in my dreams and when I wake up, I can't fall back asleep.
"So I train. I train harder than I have ever trained before to make you proud. I know you're already proud of me, but there's just something sitting inside me that doesn't feel proud of myself. You knew my doubts better than anyone. Even better than me at times, which I will never understand, but will appreciate until my time has come.
"I hope you're resting well and not in pain. Even if you never showed it, I knew you were in pain. In pain of not being able to get up, not being able to be with me, and knowing that I was taking care of you in that way and not in the other ways I should have. You were strong until your last breath. And I admire that in you. You were fighting, I know you were. But you unfortunately lost that fight. I will keep fighting for you, Y/N.
"I love you, Mizu."
Folding up the parchment, I grabbed a few sticks of incense and a small pot. I walked out of the house and into the backyard. In the way back, in the woods, there was a small shrine I had made for her. Walking towards it, I stepped inside and placed the small pot down, sticking the incense stick in it. Placing the parchment down, it joined the rest of countless of other pieces of parchment. They were all letters from when she had died. It was two years worth. Kneeling, I bowed onto the ground before raising my body up, placing my hands together. Closing my eyes, I could feel her presence. There were small wind chimes by the door and they jingled whenever I entered and left.
"Thank you for everything, Y/N," I said.
Sitting there for a bit, I stood up and grabbed the letters. I bowed before leaving the shrine, hearing the chime jingle before I left. Smiling, I set the letters down a few feet away from the shrine. I had to move on. I struggled, but I had to move on for her. In my own way. Reaching into my pocket was a metal stick and a small hammer. Crouching to the ground, I struck the metal stick until it was red. Sticking it onto the parchment, the letters were set ablaze and I watched as they burned. I remember writing each one of them. And how much my heart hurt while I was writing and when I finished.
"I'm sorry, Y/N," I said, turning away and walking back towards the house.

Touch Her, I Dare You

Mizu X Fem!Reader CW: Blood, Loss of limbs WC: 1.1k+
I knew Mizu was protective, I just wasn't expecting her to be so protective over me. Every time we go somewhere, she is either standing very close by or literally on top of me. It was a bit awkward at first, since I would turn and she'd be right behind me or whenever I tried to talk to someone in private, she would be standing there, just watching the person.
"You don't need to protect me, you know," I said to Mizu.
"I know I don't need to. I want to."
"How noble of you," I rolled my eyes.
"Hey, either I offer protection, or you'll end up somewhere you don't want to be. So it's your choice. The former or the latter."
I let out a sigh. She was right. She was the reason I wasn't in a brothel somewhere lying with men I don't want to be with.
"Fine," I sighed.
"Besides," she pinned me to a wall, her hand trailing softly up the side of my thigh and to my hip, where she rested her hand there. Rubbing little circles against my hip, she leaned towards me.
"Wouldn't want you to get hurt. The pretty little girl that you are," she smirked at me.
"M-Mizu."
My feelings for Mizu were obvious to the point she commented about it within minutes. It was how I looked into her eyes and complimented them any chance I could get. While I heard people disgrace her eyes and tell her she was something she wasn't, I thought that she needed to hear how much I loved them. It wasn't because she needed to hear it, I wanted to tell her. It was the truth. I did love her eyes. I loved her. But whatever we had going on between us wasn't really official. I don't even think Mizu understands her own feelings. It was times like this where I questioned her feelings and her flirtatious nature only around me. Maybe she did have feelings for me, but didn't know how to act upon it. Oh this touch starved and emotionally unavailable human she was. She was insufferable, but again, I chose her.
She leaned close to me, our lips mere inches apart. Right when she was about to press her lips against mine, she pulled back. Just another graze. She was such a fucking tease and she knew it. Smirking at me, she pulled her entire body away, sitting down in the corner of the noodle shop we were in. We were sort of in the back where no one really paid attention to us. Which was Mizu's choice of course. Sighing, I sat down across from her, shooting a glare in her direction.
"What?" she asked, a smug smirk on her lips.
"You're such a fucking tease," I grumbled.
"And you aren't at times?"
"Not as much as you are, Mizu."
She shrugged and someone walked over to us, setting tea and noodles down.
"Well, aren't you a beautiful one."
Turning, a man was standing before Mizu and I. His eyes were on me and I could tell, without even looking, that Mizu was staring him down. I just flashed him a smile before turning to begin eating the noodles that were served.
"What brings a beauty such as yourself out here?"
"Beat it," Mizu said, deepening her voice. Oh I loved it when she did that.
"Was I talking to you?" he turned towards Mizu, a stifled laugh coming from him. "Can you even see through those glasses of yours? You look like a blind beggar."
"I think people need to get more clever with their insults. Every single one of them has been used."
I smiled, almost cracking into a small laugh. The man looked in between me and Mizu before stepping towards her. He grabbed Mizu by her cloak and lifted her up.
"Who do you think you are?"
"Please, we just want to eat."
"And I am trying to talk to a pretty lady. A lady who deserves better company."
He stepped towards me once more, about to place a hand on my shoulder. Mizu removed her sword from the belt, but it was still in its sheath. Placing the end of it underneath his chin, he glared her way.
"Now who do you think you are?"
"Touch her. I dare you," Mizu stared down at his hands. "With hands like yours, I'm sure noodles isn't the only thing you touch."
He smirked darkly, "You would vomit at the things these hands have touched."
"Hope you washed them before serving food."
"Wouldn't you like to know?"
That was it. I wasn't eating these noodles. Not after that.
"Seems you tarnished the lady's appetite," Mizu said.
"I can help her regain it back," he pushed Mizu's sheathed sword away from him.
Kneeling down, he reached over, about to take my kimono into his hands. Mizu, removing her sword now, placed the blade underneath his chin, forcing his head back.
"Last warning. Touch her. I dare you."
He turned his head and smirked, "Never dare someone to do anything."
He placed a firm hand on my shoulder and within a blink of an eye, his entire hand was laying on the ground. Blood poured out of the wound and he grabbed the nub with his only hand, screaming as his eyes bulged in fear.
"Want the other hand, too?" Mizu asked, placing her blade at his wrist.
He slowly turned his head to look up at Mizu, who had a dark glare in her eyes. Quickly, he stood up and grabbed his hand, running off. Sheathing her sword, she offered her hand to me. Taking it, she pulled me up and we walked out of the noodle shop. Others were watching, but I didn't really care at this point. I smiled, knowing the great lengths Mizu would do to keep me safe. It showed as her arm was around my waist, holding me close to her.
"You ok?" she asked after we were a good ways away from that village.
"I am. Thank you, Mizu."
She smiled at me. It was a rare smile only I got to see. And it wasn't her cocky smile she brandished whenever she won a fight or something. It was her genuine smile.
"Can I see your eyes?" I turned to face her.
She stopped and nodded. Pushing back the Kasa to where is sat at the back of her head, she reached up and removed the orange tinted glasses. Once her stark, ice like blue eyes were revealed, I couldn't help myself but cup her face in my hands and pull her in for a sweet and gentle kiss. Pulling away once it was finished, a soft look appeared in her eyes as her smile that was already there softened.
"Thank you, Mizu."
"No one lays a hand on you. Not ever."
"Only you," I smirked, winking at her.
Her face flushed a bright pink as I walked off, chuckling to myself.

Princess
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mizu x Fem!Reader CW: N/A WC: 1.2k+
I walked down a line of suitors that my father had picked out for me. They were mostly older men, something I did not cater to well, but this was the world I lived in. Where women are to be married off to an older man. It wasn't right, but I had to live with it. I had no say in the matter, especially since my father was a highly respected lord and I was the princess of our clan. However, there was this one person who kept popping up in the back of my head. It was someone I had just recently seen when I was coming home.
They were right by the carriage and when I picked my head up, our eyes met. He was wearing these tinted glasses and a large hat was on his head. There was something odd that made him stick out to me. Something that these men didn't have to offer. After rejecting every man here, my father audibly sighed. I understood why he was frustrated, but I was frustrated, too. Once the men left, he turned towards me.
"Do you not want to get married? To have a happy life?"
"I have a happy life here, unmarried," I said.
"What is it?" he asked. "There has to be something that is bothering you."
"There is no spark with these men."
"You're not even giving them a chance."
"Says you. You line them up and say pick whichever one you want. Like they're having a contest to test if they're handsome or not."
"What is bothering you?"
"There was this man when I was on my way here," I said.
"And?"
"There was something odd about him. Something I couldn't put my finger on, but it made it all the more attractive. I wanted to get to know what that odd feeling was whenever I looked at him. I want to know why he is mysterious."
"Hmm. What did he look like?"
"He had orange tinted glasses, a large hat on his head, and a cloak. Oh and there was something around his neck."
"And he's here?"
"Yes."
There was silence before my father nodded, "Alright. I'll see if the locals know where he went. I'll bring him here."
"Really?!"
"Yes."
I smiled and hugged my father, "Thank you!"
"I hope that you can give him a chance."
"I will, father."
"Why did you follow me out here?" Mizu asked.
"I was worried about you," I said.
"You're following someone who is out for revenge. Not someone who wants love right now."
"What we had, was it real to you?"
Mizu looked over at me, some confusion going on in her eyes. They flicked back and forth from me and the wall.
"I-I--" she couldn't even answer that question.
"I didn't judge when you told me you were a woman. That you were not what I thought you were. And yet, I stayed with you. I still loved you."
"You're loving the wrong person, Y/N. You're loving me for the person who I was presenting to you. After your father gave me his permission to marry you, I knew you deserved better."
"Deserved better how?"
"For starters, an actual man. Not a woman pretending to be one. And someone who will actually love you."
"So what we had wasn't real?" I asked, a hurtful expression appearing.
"That's not what I meant," Mizu turned and grabbed my hand. She let out a sigh, shaking her head. "Someone who will love to put you first. Someone who will take care of you no matter what."
"You took care of me."
"But I had to leave for my mission. To kill those white men."
"I know you told me this. And I support you going through with it."
"Do you?" she asked, a questioning look in her eyes.
"I do," I said confidently.
"Then you will let me go. And move on to find someone who is deserving of you. Who you are deserving of."
"I can't," I said, my voice breaking slightly.
"Why?"
"Because I love you, Mizu."
She let out a sigh before pulling me in for a hug. Her arms wrapped tightly around me and I hugged her back, embracing the warmth she had.
"Even though I didn't really say it often, I do love you, Y/N."
"And I know you don't want me to move on."
"What makes you say that?" she asked.
"Just how protective you were over me even when someone looked at me the wrong way. Like you were going to gouge their eyes out."
"Well," she pulled away to find my eyes. "You are mine, after all."
I smiled, some blush crawling onto my cheeks.
"You're right. I don't want you to move on to find someone. But you do deserve better. A-And once I finish everything, I will do better."
"Thank you, Mizu."
The door opened and Ringo walked in. Mizu glared at him for not warning us first.
"You got a girl," he said. "A pretty girl. Wait, how does that work?"
"Ringo, this is Y/N. She has been secretly following me, but I am grateful," she softly smiled at me. "She's also a princess," she looked over at Ringo before turning back to face me."My princess."
I smiled, some more blush crawling onto my cheeks. I knew something that would make Mizu blush heavily. It was mostly PDA, but since it was Ringo, I knew we were going to be fine. But even then, Mizu doesn't like it when I show her off. She would sometimes show me off whenever we were starting our relationship, before my father told her she could marry me. Leaning towards her, I pressed a kiss to her cheek. She stood there frozen, a deep red color flushing across her cheeks. I giggled and did it once more, that red growing deeper. It looked like she wanted to reach for her Kasa and cover her face. I loved it when I could get her flustered.
"A-A minute alone, Ringo, please."
Ringo nodded and walked out of the room, his footsteps echoing down the hall until they stopped. Mizu turned and faced me once more, grabbing onto my hands.
"My princess," she whispered.
It was a cute nickname she had given me when we started our relationship. To say it was rocky at the beginning is an understatement. She was down right not willing to do anything with me whenever my father brought her to the palace. She immediately wanted to leave and fought a few guards. Almost about to leave, I stopped and just talked with her. We walked around the courtyard and talked for a bit. She told me about her pursuit of revenge while I talked about how boring it was to live this kind of life. She was jealous of me to say the least. But she worked on that. Now, people are jealous of her whenever her and I are together.
"You should head on home," she said. "This next part will be dangerous and I can't afford to lose you."
"I can't afford to lose you either."
"I'm stubborn. You know it," she chuckled. "My body won't let me die until I have finished everything. And when I finish what needs to be done, I will come back to you and we will get married. We will have a life together. Just you and I."
I smiled, some tears forming in my eyes as that was all I wanted from her. Was to just be with her and live the rest of our days out together. To grow old with her and experience the changes of the world as we grew older and older. She placed her hands on my cheeks, swiping the tears away with her thumbs. She pressed a kiss to my forehead before lightly pecking my lips.
"I love you, my princess."
"I love you, too, my water lily."
