Hey great grandma if you're listening. Happy birthday you absolute legend. You were my rock growing up. I've been really quiet. I hope you're having fun with great grandpa Huntley now he's joined you. You would be 96 today. I miss you so much more than I realised. The world and I broke a little bit when you died. I miss you so frigging much. As I sit here typing this I'm getting emotional because I wish you could see me now. Now I'm stronger, braver and everything you know I am and was. I've faced many things since you died but I'm honestly hoping I make you proud. I love you.

Tw- sui, self harm, death 3 years ago the trans community lost a powerful member of our society. Her name was Leelah Alcorn. She committed suicide due to her unaccepting parents who didn't care about her. The original post with this suicide note on has been deleted but for however long we remember her, her legacy lives on. Please if you know a trans person who is struggling try and offer them support or a hug. To all my trans friends and beyond please don't give up hope. Cw: TDOR, police brutality, sui, murder, transphobia: Open letter to society - Dear society, What I want you to know: Us trans people aren't a burden, we are human despite what the media such as red header papers such as the sun and daily fail (mail) want you to believe. We get killed a lot just for our existence. Trans women who are sex workers are more at risk of this, furthermore an astonishing 325 trans people we are aware of have been killed. I believe the figure is actually higher due to deadnaming (using the birth name) and lack of statistics of suicide among the trans community. What we do know is, having extremely unaccepting parents contributes to the risk of a trans youth attempting and committing suicide. Adjusting to a new name, pronouns and how the relative presents themselves, and watching them learn to love themselves through surgeries, hormones or anything they do costs NOTHING, not adjusting to these changes could cost them their lives. Transphobia from literally every direction gradually can eat one away or they can rise above it, but the latter takes an astronomical amount of strength and determination to not let it get to them. What I actually think whenever I even get the urges to yell about it Fuck society wants us dead. The police segregate us into prisons which are heavily gendered and into the one we don't identify as. Due to this poor call of judgement some trans people end up being incarcerated. Furthermore being arrested due to being uncomfortable with police presence then in the process of this police brutality being used at prides such as Glasgow means that the general comfort of the community at this stage is very much a cause for concern. What I actually say- Trans rights are human rights. Why? People cause debates on every damn thing and all people should be accepting and I don't have the energy to fight back at the moment. Please protect those trans and non binary individuals in your lives, care about them before the inevitable fate of death may get sped up into a split second. To my trans / nb and all other identities, under trans and nb umbrella, Please stay safe #tdor
