So a springlock is this spring mechanism that you can wind back and lock the endoskeleton of an animatronic out of the way so a person can fit into the animatronic suit.

These mechanisms are very fragile and can malfunction by unlocking. This makes the endoskeleton go back to its original position. This isn't very pleasant for the person inside.

This created Springtrap.
