remember limited life? after jimmy died he practically declared the bad boys over, even though joel was still there

remember double life? he declared his soulbond to scar doomed to fail, even though scar was trying to get grian to try to make it work

remember last life? when he didn't count himself as one of the southlands anymore, he said the southlands were gone even though that wasn't true

grian doesn't understand how much those bonds mean to the others in them. mumbo and scar don't understand why grian wants to break up the buttercups when they're such a fun trio. didn't he think it was fun? can't we still be friends?

Weird headcannon: whenever Grian is in a photograph, his eyes are always open and facing the camera if they’re visible. At first everyone thinks he just has a sense for it or is really photogenic, but eventually someone takes a pic while Grian’s asleep, and freaks out when his eyes are very clearly open and staring at the camera, even though he slept through the entire thing.

I am thinking about the way Grian grieves, specifically in Limited Life after Jimmy and Joel’s deaths and in the hc x esmp crossover after Emperor!Grumbot was killed.

That immediate response of utter devastation - screaming his pain to the universe… only to immediately deflect with a joke about how he was evil anyway, it was his own stupidity, he had started going a bit insane.

It’s the way he only allows himself a single moment of unfiltered pain before he hides it all away. He guards himself so closely, only letting what he can’t contain slip through.

And I just find that absolutely fascinating in the context of the Life series specifically. After all, why would he show his pain? He knows better than anyone that negative emotions are exactly what the Watchers want. And he never was one to play by the rules of others, was he?

Wait a second, look at this:

Grian is chasing Scar and beating on him with a sword while Scar is trying to appeal to his better nature, then trying to set him on fire with a bucket of lava. One is much more successful than the other. Then we see THIS:

Notice the little blue thing in the air? Followed by this?

That's right my friends, not only did Grian backstab his old soulmate, his desert buddy, his Clocker honorary cousin, he ripped the poor guy's shirt off!

What a long, strange trip from the partner who spent most of his time trying to get Scar to keep his armor on. And yet somehow it seems so fitting.

Except for Last Life, Grian has been the cause of Scar's final death every season.

Jimmy's curse is dying first. Grian's curse is killing his allies. Scar's curse is Grian.

Also Grian was starting to apologize- season one vibes but he goes “I’m s-“ and when he hears scar say you can’t do this- he changes his mind says he can LIKE- AHHH

Also the last thing scar hears before dying is G yelling “gotta go” which I know was in like a joke ish tone but THE ANGST POTENTIAL

These grown ass adults sitting behind their computers controlling little blocks have altered my fucking brain chemistry I can’t even- the block people are everything to me. Like I thought the canary curse and Joel’s response made go insane but this. THIS.

I don’t think I will get over limited life any time soon like all the 3rd life and double life parallels- even some last life moments I just- AHFSSKJH

Also here are more details that made me loose my mind in this section

-scar was behind grian while watching the chaos when he died even though he was cheering for everyone G was separate and he was near G

-Cleo died almost immediately after scar and the clockers were officially dead

- just scar mention getting shot/stabbed in the back at their little family reunion in the sky I-

-scar eagerly watching Grians death only to watch him walk away safe with a member of his own “family”. Also not to take away from the moment but scar writing dad i want to kill you now in the chat was hilarious to me idk why

-from Grians perspective early on: I was gonna cut scar some slack, but not anymore

- also in Grian’s perspective you can actually hear him say I’m sorry before the I’m s- and it’s so third life I can’t even

-“I did scar so dirty there- it was- he was- he had his back turned”

-Also the two of them goofing off in the sky in the end just funny and cute reunion

Also grian kept mentioning how he was lost without his bad boys(so real), but even though he had made an alliance, he spent around half of his episode focusing on scar and his team until they were gone. HAGSJAHHSKAGDJA Also, the fact that he is now a nosy neighbor which has BIGB of all people, and yet he does a 180 from 3rd life and focuses on scar like AHH. and I could go into a whole side thing about sky sibling but not the time. Also don’t even get me started on grians “I can rebuild” moment and him running out of materials and clinging to he bad boys as his time ticks down because that can be a whole other ramble post. THIS is just my dessert duo brainworms lmfao

Time to listen to tongues and teeth on repeat for the s1 and s3 feels
