A Mediatechnology and -Design student that is way too much into doing private projects and obsessed with good stories posts some of his stuff now and then. But I fear it will be mainly JSE fanart as soon as I can get back to it...

Aw gosh thank you! ;;
Drawing clean lines isnt something that came naturally to me, I’ve spent a lot of time practicing. I don’t do the exercises so much anymore (i should im just lazy LOL) but the main exercises I do are ones meant to improve accuracy and control.
I could approach my lines like this by drawing lots & lots of small lines to form one line
but it’s not very clean. I used to work like this & i was very unsatisfied with how it looked. that’s not to say there’s anything wrong w working like this, but personally its not what i want!
it’s a lot more obvious in my older art
What’s going on here is I havent decided what my line is before I drew it, so I’m drawing lots of little lines to try and find the line I want. one of the lines that i’m trying to find here is this one
but instead i drew about fifteen million different lines LMAO
I drew that about three and a half years ago? n since then I’ve put a lot of focus into improving my line accuracy! thinking about my lines before i draw them, and drawing them when i know what i’m going for.
There’s a couple exercises that helped me with this. The first one is drawing 2 dots, and connecting them with a single line. (tho I tend to double my lines when I’m happy w a line jus cause i like how it looks)
Then the next one is the same thing but connecting 3 dots with one line
You’ll notice after a couple lines I move my pen through the dots without drawing anything to get a feel for the line.
This is called ghosting, it’s a good habit to get into! previsualising the line you want to draw before you draw it will help you build the confidence you need to draw those long, clean lines.
The aim of these two exercises is to teach you to previsualise your lines and improve your accuracy.
Lack of previsualisation is the main problem with my older art - I drew so many lines all the time because I wasn’t stopping to think about exactly what line it is I want to draw.
The next exercise is drawing parallel lines, aiming to keep them roughly about the same distance apart!
This is like the next step exercise, as it requires the control and previsualisation you learn from the other two. it helps get rid of that scribbly crosshatching!
it’s also good for perspective and just anything which requires drawing parallel lines.
anyway hopefully that makes sense!
some other more advanced exercises to check out are these ones: http://helpfulharrie.tumblr.com/post/90194283876/le-mec-deluxe-draughtsmanship-exercise

It's really not that hard to tell actors from their characters
Like, this is Loki

And this is Tom. They have different colored hair.

This is Castiel

And this is Misha. They wear different clothes.

This is Tony Stark

And this is Robert Downey Jr. They have different names.

Simple
