You don't get to shoo me.
I have been through worse than your tiny mind can imagine. You don't get to command me around just because you may not be a "foreigner".
So this is what my wife meant by "the tumbler"

Of course she didn't! If I were married to a woman like you, I also wouldn't mention my family!
And I may be a foreigner, but I sure as hell know that you don't even deserve to walk on the ground I and all my friends and foes fought on.
So this is what my wife meant by "the tumbler"

You're right, I don't know you, but I know my sister, the woman who you call your wife, and I know how much damage you've done to her.
And then you don't even invite me, my friend or my children, her nieces, to the funeral!
So this is what my wife meant by "the tumbler"

Sir, are you Mabels husband?
Now, I have a few questions to ask you
First off: I am her little brother in anything b blood, so how is it that I and my dear friend and children not only were informed of a funeral, but not even of her death?
She also seemed quite unlively in your marriage, and I cannot help but blame you for this. Your children once told me that you and my sister often fought a lot, why was that? She was a wonderful lively spirit when I got to know her, so why would you ever fell the need to try to tame her? Because you couldn't handle her? Sir, I believe the concept you're lacking is the concept of choice. You chose to marry her and yet you bent and broke her until she died. Why did you not choose a tamer woman if you couldn't handle my dear sister?
You are a disgrace of a man who neither deserved his wife nor his children, scum like you deserves to rot in loneliness, for you cannot appreciate your wife as she was and needed to break her into the almost unrecognizable! I cannot believe what you did!
She used to be so lively and lovely, and yet ever since you have had her as a wife, all that had been gone and she was a shell. You should be ashamed of yourself, good sir!
So this is what my wife meant by "the tumbler"

That question caught him off guard
"Oh! Well, he's quite a dear friend. Him and I used to share cots in the army, since out tentmates were already sharing. We have known each other since we were but wee little children, I no more than six years old" he began to tell the woman with a smile while he poured himself a glass of water
"While I was active as a british spy, or when I was away, he had written me quite a lot. Asking about my circumstances and when I should return. It was quite pleasant to read through the letters, especially since Joseph and I had not quite been as fond of each other at first." He continued with occasional pauses to take a sip from his water
His voice dripped with fondness and care and, if one might forget he be talking about a man and not a woman, love. His smile all too small but shouting a big signal of, again, fondness and care into the world.
Midnight. Kenneth farmhouse, the kitchen.
One Claudia Eleison, the latest resident of the farm, stood leaning back on a counter with a glass of whiskey in hand. (The bottle was her's.) A small candle and the moonlight illuminated the scene.
A sigh.
She didn't believe anyone was awake, not at this hour. So Once this was done, she would just return to her shared room without having disturbed anyone . Or so she thought.

"He has told me, in a drunken state. I have been raised there, but I hardly have fond memories of that place... nevermind, 'tis not about me" he said with a shake of his head and began to smile his signature reassuring smile
"Yes, I speak of Smith. Him and I certainly have a...." he prayed she couldn't see the redden of his cheeks "... special bond. Him and I grew quite close during the war" he told her with a smile which mirrored quite the fondness

"Yes, it is. When I went to england to study, I had hoped to find a wife to rid me of plaguings of mine. But instead, I have found a very dear friend and a love for tailoring. This friend has also accompanied me throughout the war." He told the woman with a slightly nostalgic and very fond look in his eyes, almost bordering on care or love
"For me, life is about my family. My sister and my father, but also the family I gained over the course of the war. 'Tis also about finding a home, a place where I feel I can be myself and where I can forge myself a place in society." He told the woman calmly

"No need to ask on my forgiveness, for i have not minded the question. 'Tis peculiar that i have not married yet, that be true, but I have not seen the necessity in it yet" plus, he very well knew who he would like to marry, but society may hang both him and the man he shall wish to call his husband should they attempt a proper marriage
"It was unthinkable for me too for a long time" he said with an empathetic and good-hearted laugh "but some people, nay, one person has taught me that there be much more to life than marriage." He told the woman with a gentle and encouraging smile

"I do not suppose why I should feel guilty, for I rather would remain a bachelor as long as I do not hurt my wife"
Frederick said with a curious huff. It was half the truth. He would marry a woman, if he were capable of loving a woman. But Claudia shouldn't need to know such
"What has triggered such a question if I might ask?" Has asked her curiously with his eyes reflecting the same curiosity that is to be found in his voice and also a slight trace of concern and..... guilt?

"Guilty of what? I would admittedly feel more guilty were I away from my family"
He asked, genuinely confused. He does not see a reason to be guilty, at least not if he ignored his actions he had done on the battlefield. But those were necessary for the fight.

"No, I didn't. I also do not plan, for I am quite content living here as a bachelor with my family and friends. And Jonathan"
His face seemed to redden a little bit at the thought of his closest friend.
"I can imagine Carol misses her father. I had lost my mother as a child, only a wee bit older than her, and I certainly miss her a lot." He changed the topic, his voice turning a bit worried for the child he almost views as a niece

"Like I have said, war and the atmosphere in the camps has the tendency to change people." He said with a small huff of amusement
"In addition, I mainly knew the man in a drunken state, but he did seem quite lively. Inebriated or not." He said with a toughtful expression on his face.
"I do not know of his faith, only what he has told me, but by the last time I have seen him, he seemed quite lively and seemed to have more of a loose attitude to his faith... at least fron what he seemed like" he told the woman, for he felt she deserved to know another side of her husband.
"He did try to persuade me to find a wife early in our aquaintanceship, though" he remembered with a quiet laugh, cautious to not wake the other people in the house.

"War has the tendency to change people, miss. He and I grew quite close during the war, too, despite him being of a superior rank to me." He told the woman with a light smile at the fond memories he gathered with her late husband while they both were inebriated
"The image of him, who was quite fond of an excess amount of wine, not touching alcohol seems absurd to me. Did he truly?" He asked with genuine amusement and curiosity in his voice.

"No need to worry, Jonathan usually sleeps hardly disturbed." He reassured her with a gentle and slightly fond smile. He seemed to get that expression often when he thinks about the man
"Also, please, call me Frederick. It is quite odd to be referred to as 'Sir Kenneth' within my own home by one who also lives here" he offered her "needing a moment of peace is quite understandable, I needed such also quite often during the war, drunk or not" he reassured her with a chuckle, the memory of drinking together with men such as Giles and Henry seemed quite silly for him now

Frederick appeared in the doorway, his expression a tired one as he saw the wife of his drinking companion.
"What may be the reason for you being awake at such an hour?"
He asked with a seemingly never ending gentle smile as he leaned against the counter next to her
