Cannabidiol Benefits
Cannabidiol, also known as Cannabidiol, is a phytochemical compound found in industrial hemp and potpourri. Cannabidiol has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activity. It was first isolated by German scientists at the University of Tubingen in Germany. Cannabidiol was first used for treating cancer in humans in the 1970s. Cannabidiol has been used to treat a variety of ailments and is in use in European countries and the USA. Here are some of the benefits that using Cannabidiol has to offer:
Cannabidiol reduces the side effects of Parkinson disease. Early research shows that taking cannabidiol daily can reduce tremors, slow motor neuron degeneration, and relieve symptoms of Parkinson disease. More research is being done on Cannabidiol to see how it works in treating other neurodegenerative diseases. More studies are also being done to confirm the anti-psychotic and anti-anxiety properties of cannabidiol.
Cannabidiol may help in treating Alzheimer's disease. Preliminary evidence seems to show that taking cannabidiol does improve memory and prevent further deterioration of brain function in Alzheimer's patients. It might also help in treating mild to moderate forms of arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Some evidence suggests that taking cannabidiol might improve the seizure symptoms of people with Parkinson's disease.
The herb has very low toxicity in animals and therefore, is considered relatively safe. However, there are some side effects associated with taking cannabidiol. One side effect that has been seen in early research is that cannabidiol produces a type of "high" feeling that can be similar to that of marijuana. Therefore, before starting to take cannabidiol, it is advised that you discuss your intentions with your doctor.
Cannabidiol has also been shown to be effective in treating psychotic symptoms in some patients with schizophrenia. In the initial phase of clinical trials, the use of cannabidiol seemed to be beneficial in preventing the onset of psychotic symptoms in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. In a later phase of research, the use of cannabidiol was found to be more helpful in reducing the symptoms of psychosis in patients who have experienced positive psychotic experiences. This may indicate that cannabidiol might reduce the negative side effects of psychotic disorders.
Another benefit of cannabidiol is that it might reduce the severity of symptoms related to Alzheimer's disease in people who have already been diagnosed with the disease. Some studies have shown that cannabidiol can help improve the memory, attention, behavior, and concentration of people with Alzheimer's disease. However, this benefit has not been proven in every case. More research is necessary to confirm these findings.
A benefit of cannabidiol that has been established in various controlled studies is that it might help treat social anxiety disorder. According to a recent early research studies, patients with social anxiety disorder who were given a regular dose of cannabidiol showed significant improvement in their symptoms. However, more research is required to assess the full effects of cannabidiol on anxiety disorders. Another study by the University of Illinois College of Medicine found that women who took an oral extract of cannabidiol had significant improvement in pre-menstrual syndromes, which usually occur at mid-cycle. There were no significant changes in the symptoms of post-menstrual syndrome in the women who took cannabidiol.
Since there are still a lot of clinical trials in progress, taking cannabidiol should be considered cautiously by people who have certain conditions or who are taking other medications. People who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult their doctor before taking any type of medication. Also, people with a history of or predictors of heart problems or high blood pressure should talk to their doctor before taking cannabidiol. Before taking cannabidiol, people who have a history of seizure, glaucoma, angina, cancer, heart failure, and serious side effects should talk to their doctor.
