i really like the contrast between the extremely vague generic description apollo gives about nahyuta being a nice kid because he was ‘always smiling and stuff’ and all the lines we actually get from kid nahyuta which make him sound like a creepy child from a horror film. if your kid says he wants to become a lawyer to make sure people get punished and when you save him from drowning asks you why you did that maybe some signs were there that he was going to turn evil

things i've seen other ace attorney fans claim/imply that are entirely false that i really want to post about:

"apollo's fear of heights is played for laughs" - yeah once. trucy takes it mostly seriously in turnabout serenade, athena takes it completely seriously in the magical turnabout (even voicing concern about how terrified apollo is of being on the catwalk), and the one time i remember it being poked at is in turnabout revolution, where ema asks if apollo is scared of heights and trucy jokes about it. it's not joked about every time it comes up, in which case it would be an issue.

"klapollo isn't mutual" - yes it is. i've made an entire post about it but i'll just summarize it here, apollo literally calls klavier pretty within like 30 minutes of his first trial with him and klavier calls a metaphor apollo mentions "poetry" and says he wants to hear more of it (and there is literally no straight explanation for that). and that's just two examples, there are more.

"trucy was flanderized in dual destinies and spirit of justice" - no she wasn't. she just didn't have the same relevance in dd and soj that she did in ajaa.

"aura's entire character revolves around metis" - did we play the same game? because yeah, she's upset about metis's murder, but she's also upset (possibly even more upset) about simon being on death row. her entire goal is to get simon off of death row, and just like simon, she acknowledges that given the information she has, if simon didn't kill metis then athena must've done it. the second simon's exonerated she leaves the rest of the trial to simon and phoenix and isn't seen again until the trial's over.

"dhurke, apollo, and nahyuta don't see each other as family" - in the english localization, yeah, they do. the original japanese versions of the ace attorney games aren't really relevant to me because i don't know japanese, so i go off of the english versions, and dhurke, nahyuta, and apollo are mentioned multiple times to be family, and it's even implied to some degree that rayfa sees apollo as a brother.

"ace attorney doesn't acknowledge the potential trauma characters have from previous games" - yes, it does. i made an argument for apollo's attitude toward athena in turnabout for tomorrow being a result of his experience with kristoph and i wrote an almost 4k word essay on klavier's behavior in both ajaa and dd.

"nahyuta is poorly written" - no he's not. his character arc is driven by his tendency to be self-sacrificial toward people he cares about (and yes this includes apollo). keep that in mind and it makes a lot of aspects of his character make more sense. he's not poorly written, you're just fundamentally misunderstanding his character and motivations.
