A friend of mine got some pretty bad news today.

To start this story off, her and her husband have been trying to get pregnant ever since they’ve been married which has been a few years. Over the last couple of months they have been working with a fertility doctor to see what the problem may be and to have some options given to them.

Last month she found out that she had polyps in her uterus. They wanted to biops them to see if they were cancerous or not. They were. The doctor started her on medication to get rid of the cancerous cells. It works in 99% of patients. If the cells were all destroyed she was free and clear to start IVF to have a baby. Unfortunately, she happened to be in the 1% that the treatment didn’t work with. Now she has to have a full hysterectomy. Meaning that their chances of getting pregnant go out the door.

Now, I know that she obviously has other options. She knows that herself too, but I just get so angered. There’s people who go and have kids and don’t even take care of them. I have a bunch of them and just let them starve or beat them, and then there’s these two wonderful people who are literally trying everything to just have a child of their own.

Among other things, this is one of the things that scares me about Shawn and I traveling down the road of trying to have a baby. I know there are reproductive issues on my mom’s side of the family and I’m just nervous about it. I know that I can get all checked out and everything, and when the time comes for us have to kids, I fully plan to. It just makes me so mad that she won’t ever be able to carry her own baby.

Ugh. It didn’t even happen to me and I’m feeling a bunch of emotions about it. I can’t even imagine what her and her husband are going through 😔
