Edgar breathes in, then out, before knocking on the door. His expression is flat, and yet, his posture is drawn upward, just like how he has learned to keep himself. There is a slight unsteadiness, though, partially due to his exhaustion and partially due to the fading embers of sickness. (He had been... encouraged to wait until he was feeling mostly better. It was all his patience could take to not get out sooner.) But, here he stands. And all he can do is wait for the door to be answered, and hope things do not go sideways.

Oh. He's been spotted. How... does he know if he would consider it inconvenient? There are certainly inconveniences, but the act of being noticed is neutral, it is everything else that makes it annoying. It is hard not to notice that the Count before him is of a similar standing to himself, a fact all too deeply uncomfortable to the painter. "...Consider yourself pardoned." Despite the words, Edgar's voice is flat, weary.

A commission. Well, he knew this was what he would have probably been expected to do if he had stayed. Portraits of people that express nothing, that say nothing, that are still and lifeless. "...I have not previously, but whether that changes entirely depends on what you're about to suggest. I have standards for my work, as I am sure you understand. If I do take it, I will find time. Maybe now, maybe later. But it will be done."

Are you just naturally pale or is it lead paint/lead makeup? (A side note of, I’m so glad to see this blog active again)

Although I do experiment with the make up periodically, especially with Miss Michiko. Maybe it would be better for me to use it now since I would not have to worry about the side-effects.
