looking Ahead at Week 6
Looking at week 6, a few SEC teams have a bye week before week 7. Those teams are Auburn, University of Tennessee, and University of South Carolina. Starting off the week will be Louisiana State University, number 23, versus University of Missouri, number 21. Although Missouri is ranked higher and has an undefeated record going into the game, I can see the Tigers winning which would boost their position in the top 25. Next up will be Mississippi State versus West Michigan where I assume Mississippi will win. Number 11 Alabama will be playing Texas A&M in Texas, where I assume the Crimson Tide will win, however with their inconsistent pay they may have a more difficult time than they expect. Next Vanderbilt will play Florida in Gainesville and the Gators will most likely win this matchup, especially with their home-field advantage. Number 20 Kentucky will play number 1 Georgia in Athens, and it would be the upset of the entire college football season if the Wildcats are to win, but that is unlikely. Finally, to close out the week we have the Arkansas Razorbacks vs. the Ole miss Landsharks who are sitting comfortably at number 16.

Week 5 Results
As week 5 concludes, the SEC finds itself nearing the midpoint of the season. Quite a few upsets occurred this week, starting with the first game of the weekend when number 22 Florida got knocked out of the top 25 by unranked Kentucky by a whopping 19 points! Then we had a nail biter between Georgia and Auburn where Georgia barely scraped by winning 27-20 and maintaining their number 1 spot in college football. Another upset was when the LSU Tigers lost to the Ole Miss Landsharks 55-49 in Oxford. That loss costed LSU a move from number 13 to number 23 in the top 25, and Ole Miss moved from 20th to 16th! As I expected, Carolina fell to Tennessee 41-20, and Alabama defeated Mississippi State 40-17. There was a lot of movement in the top 25 rankings as the Crimson Tide moved from 12 to 11 and the Tennessee Volunteers moved from 21 to 22, even though they had a win this week. There are currently 8 SEC teams holding positions in the top 25, but only 4 of them have maintained a perfect record.

Looking Ahead at Week 5
Looking at week 5, the week is jam packed full of SEC matchups! Kicking it off we have number 22 Florida against unranked Kentucky. Then we have the Arkansas Razorbacks versus the Texas A&M Aggies, and I think the Aggies may be able to defeat Arkansas, but it could easily be a nail-biting game. Then number 1 Georgia plays Auburn, and it would be a major upset to see the Tigers win. Based off Georgia’s season so far, I can see then being national champions once again. They have a strong foundation, and their roster is stacked with the best players in the nation. Then we have number 23 Missouri against Vanderbilt, and I see the Tigers winning again leaving them with a 5-0 record, which could certainly boost their rank. Then the LSU Tigers will play Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi where I assume the Tigers will win but they certainly have looked better in past seasons than they do now. Saturday night the Carolina Gamecocks will travel to Knoxville Tennessee to play the Volunteers, where although I hope the Cocks can beat the Vols again in a blowout last year, but that is unlikely considering Tennessee’s rank and vengeance from their embarrassing upset last year. Closing out the weekend Alabama will play Mississippi State, and I’m almost positive the Tide will win this matchup, but I doubt it will affect their rank.

Week 4 Results
Closing out week 4, we had some interesting results that I certainly did not see coming. The Alabama Crimson Tide was able to hold off number 13 Ole Miss 24-10 to move their spot in the top 25 from 13 to 12. The LSU Tigers had a close matchup with the Arkansas Razorbacks, winning by only 3 points, flip-flopping their ranking with Alabama, as they now sit at number 13. Shockingly, Missouri is now in the top 25 after their 34-27 win against Memphis, sitting at number 23 behind the Florida Gators, who have moved from number 25 to 22 after defeating Charlotte. We had a SE matchup of Auburn versus Texas A&M, and the Aggies took the win, but they are still left unranked going into week 5. The South Carolina Gamecocks secured a win in an intense game against Mississippi State, winning 37-30, leaving QB Spencer Rattler names as SEC co-offensive player of the week once again. Rattler had more touchdown passes than he had incomplete in the game, with 3 touchdown passes and only 2 out of 20 incomplete throws.

Looking Ahead at Week 4
As we look ahead into week 4 already, we have a few intense matchups. Starting off the weekend is Auburn vs. Texas A&M, which I think will be a close matchup. The Tigers are 3-0 while the Aggies fell to the University of Miami Hurricanes in week 2. I expect Auburn to win, but not by much. Another good game to watch will be 15th seed Ole Miss vs. 13th seed Alabama. Ole Miss last beat Alabama way back in 2014, and with their close rank I bet they will come out with vengeance. The Landsharks will be at a disadvantage since they are playing away at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, which is known for its intense atmosphere jampacked with Crimson Tide fans. Another decent game should be the unranked South Carolina vs. unranked Mississippi State at Williams Bryce in Columbia, SC. Currently Mississippi St. is 2-1 while the Gamecocks are 1-2, but will South Carolina be able to turn their losing streak around?

Week 3 Results
Wow week 3 had me shocked, I’m sure as well as every other SEC football fan! Let’s start with the upset I don’t think anyone saw coming, the SEC matchup between the number 11 seed Tennessee Volunteers and the unranked Florida Gators. Tennessee certainly was not prepared for the swamp in Gainesville, as the Gators overtook the Vols 29-16 and dominated the entire game. This game moved the Volunteers to the 23rd seed, and the Gators are now ranked, but just barely at number 25! There was another upset when number 15 Kansas St. fell to the unranked Missouri Tigers by only 3 points in a very close game. Kansas St. is now unranked, although it is still early enough in the season to regain their position in the top 25. My favorite game of the week (and this may be biased as a USC student) was watching the Gamecocks play the Georgia Bulldogs. The number one team in the country was following the clear underdogs, the Gamecocks, the entire first half 14 to 3. Although the Gamecocks ended up losing 24-14, I am more than impressed by the skill displayed by South Carolina in the game. They proved they are. Better than what many think, and it makes me wonder if they will be able to be ranked or even playoff bound by the end of the football season.

Looking Ahead at Week 3
As we enter week 3, we can see the clear powerhouses this season, with the top SEC teams being Georgia, Texas, Alabama, and Tennessee. This week there are no super big rivalry games in the SEC, and I don’t expect team rankings to change too much as I feel I can predict how most games will swing based off rank and overall team strength. First, we have the LSU Tigers versus Mississippi State, and I would be blown away if LSU took another loss this week. Next, we have Kansas State versus Missouri, where I believe Kansas State will be the clear winners due to their number 15 rank and overall program strength and stability compared to Missouri’s team. The South Carolina Gamecocks will play defending NCAA champions Georgia in Athens this weekend, where I think the Gamecocks will be lucky to get points on the board. Tennessee will play Florida in Gainesville where I think the Vols will easily take over the Gators, but the game should be a fun one to watch.

Week 2 Results
Welcome back to The DisSECtion! After week 2, we are left with a few blowouts and upsets. Starting off the week was the matchup of Vanderbilt versus Wake Forest, where Wake Forest took the lead 36-20. The Georgia Bulldogs, as expected, had a total blowout against Ball State winning the game 45-3 which left Ball State with a 0-2 record to start off their season. We had quite the upset when the unranked Miami Hurricanes beat number 23 Texas A&M 48-33. The Canes have been on a losing streak the past couple of years, but maybe this year will be their time to shine as they are now 2-0 and ranked number 22! Ole Miss (20) beat Tulane (24) by 17 points to push their ranking to 17. The South Carolina game against Furman was quite the blowout, with the Gamecocks winning 47-21, and star QB Spencer Rattler was awarded SEC offensive player of the week for his outstanding work. Rattler completed 25 of his 27 passes, with three becoming touchdowns, as well as scoring one rushing TD himself. It is obvious that the game of the week was the Alabama v. Texas matchup, where Texas won the matchup 34-24 in their first ever Sec appearance. The Longhorns are now ranked number 4 in the country and seem to be quite the powerhouse this year.

Looking Ahead at Week 2
Coming up this week we have some intense matchups in SEC football. Starting on Saturday we have Vanderbilt and Wake Forest, or as I’m calling it, a battle or the black and gold! Next up will be Georgia vs. Ball State where I believe Georgia is the obvious winner. Another good game to tune into will be number 22 Ole Miss and number 24 Tulane at Tulane. I think the home game advantage may allow Tulane to take over their higher ranked opponents. The game I am most excited for is this Saturday when the Texas Longhorns play their first official SEC game versus Alabama. Texas is ranked number 11 but they haven’t played in the intense atmosphere of the SEC before, and they are playing in Tuscaloosa which certainly will not help their chances. I’m sure there will be a very large turnout for this game, and it will be interesting to see if the Longhorns can keep up with the notorious Crimson Tide. Other matchups this week include Auburn and University of California, Furman and South Carolina, University of California and Mississippi State, and Arkansas and Kent State.

Week 1 Results
Wow! What a crazy opening weekend for SEC football! There was quite the upset Sunday evening at the FSU and LSU game hosted at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, where the number 8 Seminoles beat the number 5 Tigers 45-24! Another score that shocked me was the score of the Carolina vs. Carolina game, where UNC beat USC 31-17. Although the Tarheels were ranked 21 and USC stays unranked, I expected more from the Gamecocks, although losing two important defensive players early in the game did not help. Ask expected, top 5 teams Alabama and Georgia both defeated their unranked opponents, and both did so with significant scores. For now, Georgia, Alabama, and LSU all hold their top 5 positions in the AP top 25, therefore allowing the SEC to continue to dominate college football.

Week 1: What will happen?
This week kicks off the official start to college football! Beginning the SEC season was the Vanderbilt Commadores vs. the Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors, and the Commadores won 35-28. Next up we have the Florida Gators playing number 14 Utah tomorrow night at 8:00PM. It is expected that Utah will win, but there is also a possibility of an upset considering Florida has had a year of recruiting and preparation. Another big game this weekend will be the South Carolina Gamecocks playing number 21 University of North Carolina Tarheels. This will kick off ESPN’s College Gameday season in Charlotte at the Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers. The Gamecocks previously held the 19th spot in the top 25 before playing the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl last year and being kicked out of the ranks. Many are wondering if USC will be able to earn that top 25 spot again and I am very confident they will do so based on their recruiting class this year, especially with 5-star wide receiver Nyck Harbor joining the team this season, along with 7 other 4-stars. The national champions Georgia will start their season by playing UT Martin at home, and their rivals Alabama will play MTSU at home as well. I expect both to be wins for the SEC, but nothing is guaranteed in college football.

Welcome!
Hello and welcome to The DisSECtion where I update you on all things SEC football! As we are gearing up to enter the regular season, rankings from the previous season have been set, and each team has worked all year to perfect their team. Important recruits have been made, with Alabama having the top recruiting class this year. Following the Crimson Tide are Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, and Florida. As far as official rankings go, we left the 2022 season with 6 teams in the top 25, and the Georgia Bulldogs secured the national championship for the second year in a row, beating TCU by a whopping 58 points. Many are asking, can Georgia do it again?
